Chapter 1 — Ignored By An Animal!
Rose’s POV:
I found myself waking up all alone in the dark forest.
I could feel the severe pain in my head. I touched the swollen bump and the memory came rushing back of how my cruel brother and my bloody cousins left me behind cluelessly after I hit my head accidentally on the tree trunk.
“Those rat*ss b*stards actually left me! Even my own brother? My own blood! Bloody Mark Blue!!! That ridiculous piece of sh*t! How could he?! How dares he? I am going to kill you, Mark Blue! Wait till I get my hands on you!” I said as I imagined my fingers with sharp claws wrapping around his neck.
I shook the thought out and looked at the gloomy forest around me.
“I shouldn’t have come to see this stupid waterfall with them! Oh No No! I shouldn’t have trusted any of them!! Those evil b*stards! I will kill each and every one from the damn Blue Family” I screamed from the top of my lungs while my hands were closed in tight fists to gather the energy to scream louder.
“Aaaahhhhhhh!”
“umm umm! Oooh, looks like I got a free warm-up for my throat. It sounded like a high note! My voice is so melodic. I should try singing next time” I said keeping my hand on my flawless swan-like neck and with a long sigh I continued,
“Anyways, there is nothing interesting in the medical field! Not a single hot dude in a batch of thirty! Not even a sexy senior! I hope to at least see some beauty during my internship”
Clearly, I was talking to myself in the middle of the forest, only if I am not interested in talking to the giant dark trees. Honestly, the tree must not be that dark, it’s just that there is no light in this darn shady forest! I don’t know why am I stating the common facts!
I looked up in the sky and saw a beautiful crescent moon shining above me peaking from behind the dense tree.
“And you are not helping with the illumination, you beautiful impractical thing!” I said pointing an accusing finger towards the moon.
“Even a small LED bulb of 9W is more powerful than you! What a waste!” I scoffed looking at the moon.
My foolish a*s remembered that when I fell down and got this nice-looking bump on my head, all thanks to that monstrous tree behind me, I had a cell phone in my hand with a flashlight on.
Where the hell is my damn cell phone?
My mother will kill me! It was a damn brand-new phone!
I started searching for my phone. It wasn’t a big surprise that my flashlight went off when my cell phone fell from my hand. So, I am only left with my nerdy eyes with an improper vision to search for my expensive cell phone in this bloody dark forest. Terrific!
I bent down and started searching for my cell. I wanted to find it as soon as I can and leave immediately as I noticed my headache was increasing by tenfold with each passing second. Oh dramatic me!
But there is another good news, I don’t actually come here really often so I don’t know the exact way out!
“Lucky is my middle name!” I whispered with a sarcastic smile but I knew that I would find my way out anyway. Even though people might not believe it but I am really capable.
This bending position was giving me another pain in my back. I am having 60s joint pain in my 20s. Thank you very much!
When I moved forward, I saw something shining from the corner of my eyes, like a light reflecting from a mirror or a glass screen. I slowly moved towards my left like a sly fox and guess what did I find? It’s my bloody cell phone!
“Yoohooo! YEEeeeeeeeeee! WOaahhhhhh!”
“Guess I am not that unlucky at all!!! I thought it would take forever to search for a tiny black color phone in the dark forest but that little friend of mine helped me. I love you, my old friend!” I said shamelessly throwing a series of flying kisses towards the mesmerizing crescent moon which I was cursing just a few moments ago, but I was still in the bending position.
“Thank God I found it. My mother would have actually killed me this time!”
Soon, I realized I was thanking for the blessing I never received.
I tried to switch on my cell phone but I noticed that the glass was completely broken just like my newfound hope.
“NOOOO!!! This can’t happen!” I said trying to switch on my phone only to be hopeless again.
“I am so dead! My mother will definitely kill me. Rose, you are so dead!! So, this is the day I will actually die. This is how my story ends!” I said hitting the ugly mushroom-like bump with my broken cell phone while trying to get up from my bending position.
“F*ck this back pain!” I said keeping my hand on my back while getting up.
My mind was completely drifted from my back pain when my attention was shifted to the loud growl.
“What the hell! What in the bloody hell was that?” I asked myself clearly knowing that was a growl of a wild animal.
What was it? A wild dog? A bear? A Wolf?
I don’t know. I am not a veterinarian! I am a medical student! I am responsible for humans! What am I thinking?? Why am I thinking? Should I be running? But where to?
‘Why there is an animal near me? It’s a forest, Rose, you dumba*s!! What did you expect? Unicorns?’ I chided myself in my brain.
“Is Unicorn an animal?” I asked myself in confusion. I hit my ugly bump again to knock some sense in my bloody useless brain. Why am I thinking nonsense in a situation like this?
Usually, when normal people are caught in a situation like this, their flight or fight mode gets activated. But a weirdo like me always starts asking myself utterly gibberish questions which has nothing to do with reality!
I got up immediately and was trying to figure out where should I run or I might end up running directly in the direction of the wild animal.
Suddenly, a giant wolf, giant is an understatement, a GIGANTIC, a HUGE, a HUMANGOUS wolf appeared in front of me from nowhere and it was running in my direction. I froze on the same spot.
“Lucky? My a*s!!”
The wolf was golden brown in color. It was literally glowing in the moonlight, its golden-brown hair was moving elegantly when the cold breeze was touching it. It looked like it was made of real gold! I had never seen such an ethereal wolf in my life.
Correction, I have never seen any wolf in my life! It was really different from what they show in pictures on the internet. This wolf in particular looked DIVINE.
Why am I thinking about a wolf’s beauty? Have I lost it? I am going to be served at his dinner table in a few seconds. I watched the whole scene in slow motion as it moved towards me.
“Maybe not by Mother’s hand but I am definitely dying today!” words rolled out of the mouth without me noticing.
I wanted to run. I wanted to scream and call for help but my legs felt like ice cubes, frozen in place.
I know calling someone for help in the middle of the forest is not such a brilliant idea, I mean I can drift the attention of more wild animals towards me but I was never in such situation before.
The wolf was coming near me with every passing microsecond. My legs were not moving like it was glued to the ground. My eyes were teary. My throat was sore, my mouth was not ready to open. None of my voluntary organs were ready to listen to my brain’s command.
The wolf looked at me with an intense gaze. He will be there in 5 seconds at most!! Only 5 seconds are left for me to breathe!
5….. 4……
He is reaching near me. He is almost there.
3…. 2…
He is in front of me. Mom, Dad, even Mark, I love you.
1…
And then I heard ‘Swoosh’ just an air current rapidly passing over me
‘WHAT?’
Chapter 2 — Why Does He Have To Go Through All Of This?
Rose’s POV:
'WHAT? Was I just ignored by an animal?' I was standing there dumbfounded as the wolf ran pass me.
'Am I invisible? How dare he ignore me? Why am I mad about being ignored by that giant wild animal? He spared my life and here I am feeling disappointed! I seriously have lost it!'
I was dragged out of my train of thought when I heard noises from the other side.
"Not again! I am not going to be ignored by other wild animals! I mean I was fortunate that kind wolf spared my life but I can't expect such hospitality and good nature from every animal out there!" I said angrily and ran to hide behind the bloody tree who started all this and gave me a very gentle kiss on the head.
I was hiding behind the tree while keeping my hand on my mouth and refraining myself from causing any sort of noise.
What I saw on the other side blew my mind. I saw my three very nosy uncles, Uncle Pete, Uncle Levi, and Uncle William along with the three villagers David, Joseph, and James whom I just met this morning, holding huge guns and torches in their hands. Uncle William was holding a real fire torch in his hand as well.
'Talk about being unlucky! I saw my uncles twice in a day, such a cursed day it is! They always bring me bad luck!' I thought while closing my eyes in frustration.
What are they doing in the middle of the forest at this time with those deadly weapons and weird torches? Are they acting in a drama? Or were they following that giant wolf? Are they planning to hunt it? According to the length and physique of the wolf, it can kill all of them in no time. But they have guns. That's a plus point for the uncles.
'I hope they don't hurt the wolf who just spared my life'
To this moment I suddenly realized.
'Why the hell am I hiding when I can just take their help to get the hell out of this scary forest'
But a thought stopped me again as my over-dramatic mind was contemplating my chances of survival with them.
'I mean, they have guns. Real guns! Depending on the fact, how much they hate me, I don't know if they will hesitate to shoot me at all!! After all, it's not a good idea to enter a battlefield when they are the only are armed! They can kill and bury me, right here and right now and nobody will ever know!' I can see the horrific scene passing through my eyes and then my logical mind suddenly spoke.
'But those villagers are with them too. They couldn't kill me in front of them, right?'
'Right?' I wanted to ask someone but the lack of humans was really bothering me for the first time.
'Should I go or should I not? Maybe, I should just take their help. At last, they are my own bloody uncles! I mean my own flesh and blood. They won't really harm me physically, we always had completely harmless verbal fights. Harmless and fun!'
I know I am overthinking right now. They are my uncles, I have known them my whole life. Not like I have lived here with them but still! They are completely harmless. The wolf must have gotten closer to our house and that's why they must be trying to get rid of it. That's why I always say, you shouldn't live in such a close proximity to a forest.
I just noticed that in my own personal debate, they are already moving away from me.
Being overly confident, I got up from my place and finally started following their footsteps.
'Let's go and get some help from my always good-for-nothing uncles. For the first time in life, they will be helpful. I am so proud of them!!!' I though smiling like a fool.
'I am an idiot! What was I thinking? My uncles actually hunting a giant wolf? My Uncles?? My uncles are chickens! They must have brought those guns from a toy shop. Hahahaha!' And suddenly a gun-shot drags me out of my long chain of thoughts.
My eyes were as wide as the moon when I heard a real gunshot. I again hid behind the nearest tree and tried to see what was happening from the shadows.
Three of my uncles with other three villagers were attacking the wolf now. But the wolf was just defending itself. I mean anyone who sees it can tell, it is just defending itself!! I saw the gun shot near his right leg resulting in a scar and blood started to flow through that wound.
'Oh My! That must have hurt a lot! Why are they doing this to a poor animal?' I couldn't believe my eyes.
Uncle Pete then took the fire torch from Uncle William's hand and tried to burn down the wolf.
My heart just skipped a beat! I wanted to stop them. I wanted to scream. They can't do this!! But yet again, I froze at my place in fear.
"Damn! Burn the beast!" said Uncle Levi in an arrogant tone.
'You are the real beast!' I thought angrily while throwing daggers at him with my intense gazes.
The wolf seems to turn angry from all the attacks and finally snapped.
He attacked Uncle Pete first as he jumped over his head and the fool of the uncle fell back on his butt. The majestic wolf then turned towards James and head-butted him, the poor guy flew 10 feet and finally smashed into a tree which broke his fall.
Uncle Pete tried to torch the wolf again by throwing it sneakily on the wolf's back and the smart animal avoided it without looking back. The said torch fell on James instead and started burning his leg. I can see the fire spreading quickly from his one leg to another because of the fabric of his pants.
'That's why I always tell you to not wear polyester' I chided him in this serious situation.
The stupid thought went out of the window when I heard James screaming in pain. I shut my eyes closed to avoid the scene but the smell of burning flesh was speaking for itself.
I wanted to help, to do something for him but I didn't know what to do anymore.
'What if the giant wolf attack me instead?' I was contemplating my life choices.
I know this scene and my own cowardice will haunt me forever!
'But should I really help them after they have put us through!' my whole life of backhand comments and pure bullying was swiping in my eyes like a very bad-quality film.
'Don't they deserve it on so many levels?' I questioned myself.
I decided to just observe for now. No need to get killed over my filthy uncles.
Right at this moment the wolf was attacking Uncle Pete with his claws, tearing his skin apart.
"Yes! Yes! Do it! Serve him right for calling me and my mother b*tch this morning" I said cheering in the dark for a non-existing audience.
"But don't kill him" I whisper, my voice filled with worry. I know, I said I hate my uncles but I do not wish them to die!!
It's like he heard my whisper and backed down from killing Uncle Pete. I was so surprised and so was uncle Pete.
This moment of distraction gave a chance to Uncle William and Uncle Levi to make another attempt to kill it with weirdly looking spears. Mind you it was an utterly failed attempt, as the wolf was dodging their attacks easily dealing with them both at the same time. I can see them trying to pierce his vital organs, one was attacking its stomach while the other was trying to injure his eyes but the wolf was swift to block them, growling and backing them on tree.
‘and where the hell did they get these old-fashioned weapons from?’
Maybe I am wrong but I don't know why it feels like he is trying not to hurt them.
'Am I a vet? How am I supposed to know the behavior of a wild animal?'
Remaining of the people were kicking James's legs and trying to cover the fire with their coats.
Meanwhile, Uncle Pete got up from his place went behind the wolf's back, and pointed his gun at it. The poor animal was handling Uncle Levi and William and had no idea about my sneaky Uncle’s attack. I wanted to scream to notify him but my throat was sore and I couldn't make a single sound.
It was not such a wise choice though.
Uncle Pete pulled the trigger and shot directly at his back.
THUD!
'Why does he have to go through all of this?'
Chapter 3 — Mate!
Rose’s POV:
THUD!
He fell to the ground helplessly. Anyone can see that the wolf was badly injured now but was still growling menacingly. I was feeling too bad for the poor animal much more than what I feel for my own uncles.
'Why does he have to go through all of this?
The four of them started moving towards the wolf slowly while pointing their gun towards him.
'Stop it! Please! Don't hurt him more. Let him die in peace!!!' I so badly wanted to scream but seeing the fiasco just now I didn't want to reveal my location anymore. I am not sure about my uncles being as harmless as I first thought.
But to my surprise, suddenly, the wolf got up and moved with the speed of light. There was no time to think as he started attacking them one by one.
He was beyond angry, it's like 'If I am going to die, I am going to take all of you with me!' He ripped David apart just like Uncle Pete.
He snatched the spear with his mouth from uncle Levi's hand and kicked William on the ground. He next tossed Uncle Levi to the tree and severely injured others too.
I kept my hands on my mouth to stop myself from screaming in fear. I looked at David’s unmoving body. He might be dead by his attack. My eyes became teary by only the sight of it.
Meanwhile, my coward Uncle William was helping my Uncle Pete up.
"Run, guys! Run! Retreat!" shouted Uncle Levi from the top of his lungs which sounded more like a scream in pain as he was also hurt severely.
Everyone heard him and started running in different directions holding on to each other.
Joseph who was hurt badly in the ribs was holding his upper abdomen with one hand and held David’s hand, who was lying on the ground unconscious, and started dragging him away from the wolf. The wolf practically let them go.
'Such cowards! Can't handle a single divine wolf.'
Once everyone was out of the clearing, the wolf finally fell on the ground. He must be exhausted and in so much pain after two bullets in his body. I couldn't help but feel extremely bad and somewhat guilty for not being able to stop my uncle and help the poor creature.
I don't know how and when my jelly legs started moving again without my permission and I found myself near the injured animal. The animal was howling lightly in pain. A tear fell down on my cheek and I don't know why I was feeling so bad for a deadly animal! But it felt like someone close to me got hurt.
Maybe it's because this wolf spared my life when could easily kill me as I was right in front of him. When he could take 6 healthy armed men at once then killing an unarmed girl must be a piece of cake for him but he chose kindness over cruelty and yet, he is here, lying half dead, screaming in pain.
Life is so unfair!
I could see it looking at me and then closing its eyes slowly. He still didn't attack me. I wiped my tears and my hand automatically went down to touch his head.
Then…
Just then….
Something I could never imagine in a million years happened…
The wolf changed…Its body metamorphosized.
It changed into a human!
And not just any human being! He changed into a hot human being in front of my own sinful eyes!! The hottest guy I have ever seen in my bloody life!
For a moment, I was stunned. I just stared at him but then…. I realized what I just witnessed!
I just saw a giant wolf changing into the most handsome guy from my own sinful eyes!
As soon as the realization hit, I screamed like a banshee!
“Monster!”
I screamed from the top of my lungs while pulling my hair.
Looking at the dark forest in my surroundings, the screams were getting worse and worse.
Like a doll on a music box, I span with the speed of light and was about to leave when something grabbed my feet… or I can say ‘someone’.
Gathering the non-existent courage in my body, I turned around while gulping my saliva.
I saw the man brutally injured by my own uncles was holding my leg.
A wave of electricity passed through my whole body. The shiver passed down to my spine.
I did the most logical thing I could do at the moment, I screamed… again!
“MONSTER! BEAST!”
My eyes were teary. I felt like it was my last day.
“LEAVE ME!”
I tried to pull my leg but he just tightened his grip around it. His grip was like an iron clasp. My eyes fell on his muscular arm.
What does he eat to have such powerful muscles? But the answer which popped up in my head didn’t make me happy one bit. ‘HUMANS!’
And I am going to be his next meal!
I jerked my leg to pull away from his grip but ended up falling on the ground on my back. I turned and tried to crawl away from him. I struggled to get away from him.
His grip on my leg loosened.
Just when I thought I could run away now, I felt his hand on my arm pulling me with a force that I fell on his chest.
I raised my head to look at the man lying on the ground under me while breathing heavily in fear.
Through the little moonlight shining above me, I glanced directly at him.
It was the first time I observed how celestial and manly his features were. I never saw anyone with such a perfectly angular face. His sharp chiseled jawline is to die for! His thin and perfect nose bridge made me roll my eyes.
I couldn’t believe that he had those curly eyelashes for which I go to the salon every month.
But the worse of them all, he had the most clear skin with a milky white complexion for which we girls are taking millions of treatments and skincare!
It was like he was made with perfection.
The universe cannot be more unfair!
I scoffed in disbelief.
I didn’t know I was still staring at his majestic face when I suddenly met with the most gorgeous pair of royal blue eyes.
I wanted to scream again but rather, I just kept staring at those eyes.
For a moment, I felt comfort and warmth in my heart.
I stopped struggling to release my hand as well.
I was completely mesmerized by his charm.
Never in a million years, I thought, I would be bewitched by a brutally injured naked guy who was a wolf just a few minutes ago but here we are!
‘Wait! Naked! And under me???’ my eyes were already turning in saucers when I heard him whisper.
“MATE!” he said.
His voice was low and weak but I could hear it.
“What Mate?” I asked confusedly.
“You are mine! You are my mate!” He replied, again with a weak voice.
“Excuse me! Who the hell are you to claim me yours, Mister Handsome Naked guy?” I replied with a raised eyebrow all the fear was gone like a passing wind.
“Your mate!”
“What does that supposed to mean?” I asked again like he is the most stupid and delusional person I have met. He took a breath and said,
“I am the Werewolf King and you are my mate. You are mine now” he said it with such confidence that I was taken back.
“What the hell! Werewolf King? Are you drunk? Did they hit you on your head?” I asked now again trying to get away from the crazy guy.
“You saw my wolf form!” He replied nonchalantly like its actually normal and not a big deal.
Then I remembered everything that happened tonight and my eyes widened.
“So what?” I replied, trying my best to sound confident.
“You have to marry me, NOW!” He said in a demanding tone.
“WHAT?”
