Chapter 1 — His Luna?
Evelyn's POV
I sat on the train headed toward the distant Solaris.
I was the heir of the wilderness pack, but I have been frail and easily sick since I was young. When I was nine years old, my mother passed away unexpectedly due to illness. My father, who was also the alpha of the pack, remarried a new luna not long after.
I was soon neglected and isolated. I was eventually sent to the remote Northum city of the Werewolf Continent to live with my grandmother.
I grew up there until I was eighteen, but my wolf had never awakened.
I thought I would be completely abandoned by the Moon Goddess and the Wilderness Pack for the rest of my life. However, I had just received a command from my father to return home a few days ago.
The only reason for my return was that I was appointed to marry the heir of the Lunashade pack.
The heir was chronically ill. The luna of the wilderness pack did not want her daughter to marry him, hence she asked my father to bring me back from Northum city as a substitute.
As of now, I had also learned that the current luna of the wilderness pack was my father's mistress who came between my parents even before my mother died. Her daughter was actually my father's offspring.
My mother's death was not an accident, but a conspiracy.
Hence I promised my father to come back and marry in her place.
I wanted to find out the truth and avenge my mother.
I sat on the bunk with a book in my hand. It was still quite far from Solaris, so I began to read to kill time.
The door was suddenly pushed open. A cold breeze accompanied by a sweet, metallic smell of blood got into the compartment. A huge white wolf squeezed in from outside the carriage and filled the entire compartment with its raging aura.
I was shocked when I saw the white wolf.
My wolf had not awakened yet, so I couldn't feel the wolf's aura, but I knew that only a powerful alpha could transform into a white wolf.
I panicked, but the white wolf suddenly growled and collapsed to the ground. It then slowly transformed from a big wolf into a man dressed in black.
I was at a loss for words while I stared at the handsome man. His body was covered in blood, which was obviously from being attacked.
The man was unconscious. When I tried to go check on him, the carriage door was pushed open again by several snarling black wolves, who then entered into the compartment.
One scar-faced black wolf growled excitedly upon seeing the unconscious man on the floor. All the black wolves then reverted back to their human forms.
"Boss, there's no one else here, let me just kill him now," one of the werewolves said.
"Who said there's no one else?" the scar-faced werewolf glanced at me.
A chilling sensation ran down my spine.
There was no one else in the carriage and the scar-faced werewolf's eyes were emitting a strong killing intent. He wanted to silence me for good.
I hadn't got my revenge yet, and I didn't want to die.
I backed up to my seat, covered my eyes and pretended to be frightened as I begged, "Please don't hurt me, I didn't see anything."
The scar-faced man approached me and looked at my face. I subtly pulled out a silver needle from my sleeve.
I have been a beauty since I was young. The werewolf forces in the cold Northum city were very chaotic, with frequent fights between packs. In order to avoid trouble, I always wore a veil to cover my face and hid my appearance, with only my eyes exposed.
Even so, the scar-faced werewolf was instantly attracted when he noticed my beautiful eyes.
His gaze moved away from my beautiful eyes to my body and slowly became lecherous.
I secretly clenched the silver needle in my hand and waited for him to get closer.
"Hey beautiful, we can spare you, but you'll need to satisfy me and my brothers."
I lowered my head and trembled with my long eyelashes. I begged, "I don't want to die, I'm scared. As long as you don't hurt me, I will take good care of you."
I lowered my voice and pretended to be soft and harmless while I begged pitifully. The scar-faced man could no longer hold it in as he pounced on top of me, pressing me down under his body.
This werewolf stank!
"Boss, you go first. We'll kill him first, and then have some fun with her," The other werewolves said.
I pretended to resist the embrace of the scar-faced man while listening to the vulgar laughter that rang in my ears.
Perhaps the scar-faced man sensed my lack of resistance, he let down his guard, stood up straight, and unbuttoned my clothes.
I caught the opportunity and instantly grabbed his wrist.
The scar-faced man was shocked, while my gaze was as sharp as a knife, I stared at him as if he was my prey.
"You!"
The scar-faced man tried to speak, but I raised my hand and swiftly stabbed the silver needle into the scarred man's head.
Werewolves were afraid of silverware. The scar-faced man blacked out directly on the ground.
"Boss!"
The men were shocked and rushed forward to check on him. I stayed in my seat and was ready to attack again.
Suddenly, the man on the ground opened his eyes and gave a hand chop on the neck of one of the werewolves.
One by one, the black-clothed werewolves were all taken down by the man at an incredible speed, almost in the blink of an eye.
I slowly sat up and looked at the man in front of me.
I had the courage to attack recklessly because I figured that the man was pretending to be unconscious, as the blood on his body was someone else's.
The man was also looking at me.
He had a pair of extremely deep and narrow eyes, sharp as an eagle's, with pitch-black pupils that resembled an abyss that could suck anyone in if stared at for too long.
"Mr. Louffrey, we were late."
Several werewolves rushed in who were clearly his reinforcements. They began to orderly clean up the scene. The scar-faced man and the others were carried out of the compartment. Then a werewolf respectfully handed a clean handkerchief to the man.
The man gracefully wiped his hands and walked over steadily to stand in front of me. His good-looking fingers slowly reached out and pinched my delicate chin.
I didn't move, but I held the silver needle in my hand.
The man squinted his eyes and looked at me with a playful expression, his voice low and magnetic, "What do you think I would do to you?"
I felt a wave of warmth as his long fingers held my chin that forced me to look up at him from a close distance.
I felt dizzy for a moment as he was so handsome, with a good physique and an exceptionally beautiful face. The expression on his face was imposing and exuded an alpha's aura of dominance.
I was resisting the urge to worship the alpha, then I smelled the familiar scent of blood.
It was the smell of blood on his body.
I immediately came back to my senses, this was a feud between packs.
I saw something I shouldn't have seen, and it seemed difficult for me to leave unscathed today.
The man stared at me while his men also looked at me.
My mind raced. I then reached out to knock the man's hand off my chin.
He was slightly stunned, and I immediately said sternly, "How dare you, I am the fiancée of the Lunashade Pack's heir and I am heading to Solaris for the marriage."
Zach's POV
I was ambushed by the Blackmoon pack today and I met her unexpectedly.
What a coincidence, she was there to marry the heir of the Lunashade pack?
Was she my… luna?
She continued, "You're from Solaris? Then you should know that the daughter of the Wilderness Pack is going to marry the heir of the Lunashade Pack. This wedding will be the biggest news in the city. I am the future luna of the Lunashade pack and if something happens to me, do you think you won't get into any trouble? Let me go, I did not see anything and I won't say anything!"
I found it amusing.
I heard that the Wilderness Pack was supposed to have a marriage with me, but after their alpha heard about my illness, he replaced the daughter who was supposed to marry me with another daughter of a former wife who had been exiled to the Northum city, rumored to be a normal human who could not turn into a wolf.
Was she the one in front of me?
The daughter of the Wilderness Pack who was going to marry me, the fake and ill heir, as luna. This was the biggest news in Solaris. She must be shooting her shot, betting that I wouldn't want to cause trouble.
She looked around 20 years old. Although her face was pale and her clothes were messy, her bright eyes were clear and intelligent, glowing with a dazzling light.
My fiancée who came on a cheap train, a useless little waste without the ability of transforming into a wolf, single-handedly took down the assassins sent by the Blackmoon Pack. Interesting.
I smirked slightly, withdrew my gaze and left with all my men.
As I walked out of the carriage, I heard her letting out a relaxed sigh behind me.
I turned back faintly and whispered to her, "We will meet again soon."
Chapter 2 — Wedding Night
Evelyn's POV
I got off the train and was picked up by my father's driver to the Lyken estate, which was the venue of the marriage
Chloe, my stepsister, walked in when I was doing my makeup in the bride's room.
She walked around me and sighed, "Oh, Moon Goddess, Evelyn, you lost your mother at the age of nine, and then you pushed your grandfather down the stairs. You are a disaster! Father made a good decision on sending you to Northum city! If it weren't for the heir of the Lunashade Pack being sick, an omega like you would have been stuck in the countryside for life. For someone who can't even transform, you better act clever. Don't forget, you're nothing but a dog that Father raised!"
I ignored her and simply said, "Who's the dog talking to?"
Chloe put her hands on her hips and answered, "The dog's talking to you!"
I glanced at her, smirked, and said, "Got it, you can stop barking now."
Chloe was obviously enraged by my words. She screamed and transformed into a wolf. Her fangs were inches away from my face and she growled as if she wanted to tear me apart.
I fearlessly stared into her eyes.
I knew she was jealous because even though I only showed a pair of eyes, they were more captivating than her round eyes. I could make her feel inferior with just my gaze.
"Turning into a wolf only makes you uglier," I said calmly.
It was noisy outside the room. The alpha and luna of the wilderness pack, Liam and Lila entered the room with a group of guests.
Chloe immediately reverted back to her human form. I then stood up.
"Evelyn, it's time to go now!" Said my stepmother Lila as she looked at me.
I silently looked at this stepmother who had exiled me to Northum city for nearly ten years.
Lila was a leading actress in the entertainment industry when she was young. Even now, after she gave birth to two daughters, she still maintained her beauty. I was impressed by her skills as she did not only seduce my father and became the luna of the wilderness pack, but she also had her way among the rich.
She was the one who planned the wedding today, including the wedding dress I was wearing, which was custom-made from Milan at a high cost.
Everyone at the scene was praising Lila. I pretended to know nothing while acting shy.
When the praises from the crowd began to fade, I looked toward the door and asked, "Father, why hasn't my husband, the heir of the Lunashade pack, come to pick me up?"
As soon as I said that, Lila's expressions changed.
All of the guests looked at each other awkwardly while I sneered discreetly.
I pretended to not know that I was about to marry an ill werewolf who was close to death, because I wanted to publicly expose the hypocrisy of my father and stepmother.
Liam snorted and said loudly, "Evelyn, the groom is feeling unwell today, so he won't be coming. You can just go."
As expected from the alpha who abandoned his own daughter, not even a single trace of guilt.
I smiled obediently and said, "Okay, then I'll go now."
I got into the luxurious wedding car alone while the guests were whispering about me.
"I thought she was just a village girl, who knew she would be such a noble girl?"
"Exactly, look how well the wedding dress fits her. Her slender figure is much prettier than the two other daughters."
"Looks like someone put on a show just to use someone else's daughter to replace her own daughter to be a widow."
Lila's must've had an ugly expression as I effortlessly turned the tables on her when she thought she had everything under control.
I've embarrassed the luna of the Wilderness Pack, my goal was achieved.
I sat in the luxury car and it brought me to the Lunashade Manor. I was then led into the wedding room.
The room was dark with no lights on and the atmosphere was a bit eerie.
I tried to adapt to the darkness and cautiously approached the bed. I faintly saw a man lying on the soft bed.
He was my husband, the heir of the Lunashade Pack who was terminally-ill.
I reached out to see if he was still breathing.
In that split second, a hand with slender fingers grabbed onto my wrists. When I was back to my senses, I realized that I had been pinned down beneath him.
I was shocked since I heard that my husband was sick, but the strong and powerful fingers gripping my wrist clearly belonged to a very healthy man.
Who was he?
I quickly bent my knees and tried to hit his crotch.
He reacted quickly and easily dodged my attack before pressing me down and immobilize me.
His movements were fast, precise, and ruthless.
"Who are you? Let go of me!"
I struggled hard and our bodies rubbed against each other through the thin fabric.
Not long after, a low and magnetic voice sounded in my ear, "are you that excited to meet your husband?"
Zach's POV
She did not recognize me.
I did have a condition, but it was not the kind that keeps me bedridden as rumored. I intentionally spread rumors throughout Solaris just to avoid unnecessary trouble when I was out doing my deeds.
Her flustering helplessness proved that she didn't expect her husband to be a strong and healthy young man.
I started unbuttoning her clothes slowly with my slender fingers.
She then quickly grabbed my hand and said, "I've already stopped moving, what are you doing?"
"Do you know how to make noises?" I asked.
Noises?
She was stunned. Suddenly, there were some noises from outside.
"Mrs. Senior Louffrey, this is not a good thing to do, let's go back..."
"Hush, I'll just listen with my ears, I won't look at them!"
On the other side of the giant glass window panel, an elderly person with a hunched body was eavesdropping while a frail figure was trying to pull her away.
It was my grandmother and her old maid eavesdropping at the wall.
My personality was affected by my illness, hence I was cold and distant to everyone, to a point where my grandmother thought that I was not interested in women.
She tried to get up and see what happened, but I pressured her shoulder and pushed her back down. "Hurry up and make some noise."
She suddenly understood my intentions: "Are you asking me to act for the old lady outside?"
I nodded and answered, "You're quite smart."
"I don't know how to."
She furrowed her delicate eyebrows while being beneath me with her eyes dignified and embarrassed.
She was quite cute.
I caught her off guard and yanked her clothes.
"Ah!"
She was a girl after all. She had let out a low cry of surprise.
I found it interesting and I smirked at her, "Now do you know how to make noises?"
"Shameless," she scolded.
"I can go even further, don't move."
I propped myself up on her side, towering over her and trapping her in my broad embrace. Then I arched my body and humped back and forth, imitating a certain action.
The big bed creaked in the dark room, and I saw her pale earlobes turned red.
"Keep making noises, or I'm really going to do it," I threatened her.
My wolf, Zion, suddenly got excited.
"I like her scent, I want to mate with her now," Zion said to me.
I was puzzled about Zion's excitement toward a girl who couldn't even transform into a wolf.
"Is she my destined mate?" I asked.
Zion answered, "The Moon Goddess hasn't given us a link yet, but I just like her scent."
I rejected Zion immediately deep in my soul and continued with the actions. She obediently stopped moving and even made noises along with my movements.
Under the moonlight, she blushed and lowered her eyes shyly, looking incredibly cute and innocent. I slowly started to have a sensation while my crotch gradually warmed up.
My grandmother was pleasantly surprised: "Praise the Moon Goddess, my grandson is not gay and not impotent, he has started to have sexual experiences! Haha, I'm going to have great-grandchildren soon!"
My grandmother joyfully danced, and was soon escorted away by the maid, leaving behind laughs of satisfaction along the way.
She quickly pushed me away, and I got up to turn on the lamp.
The dim yellow light spread out as she sat up. She quickly buttoned up to cover her smooth shoulders and milky-white delicate skin.
She then looked at me and realized as her pupils contracted.
"It's you!"
Chapter 3 — Sleeping In The Palm Of The Hand
Evelyn's POV
He was the man on the train!
I recognized that handsome face, with facial features as if carved by the heavens that exuded a natural coldness and aloofness.
He was my newlywed husband, the heir to the Lunashade Pack, Zach Louffrey.
I knew I was going to marry a werewolf on the verge of death, and I had made many preparations for it, but I never expected it to be him.
Damn it, yesterday I shouted at him on the train, boasting about being the future luna of the Lunashade Pack. He must had seen me as a joke.
Zach's thin lips curved into a smile that was neither warm nor cold. "You recognize me now? I told you we would meet again soon."
The door was knocked from the outside, followed by the voice of a middle-aged man, "Mr. Louffrey."
Zach casually replied, "Come in."
A middle-aged man entered the room, "Mr. Louffrey, Mrs. Louffrey... um, how should we handle this?"
Zach stood tall by the bed. He was six feet two inches, dressed in a simple white shirt with black pants. The expensive fabric seemed to be custom-made, accentuating his elegant and noble demeanor.
"He is the butler, Alfred." Zach gestured with his hand as an introduction.
He then lowered his eyes and skillfully flipped the shiny silver button on the cuff of his shirt, casually glancing at me. "You don't know yet, do you? We have two bears in the backyard of the Lunashade Pack. How about I throw you in and feed them?"
My heart tightened at his words, and I couldn't help but take a step back.
This marriage was arranged by the older generation of alphas, and since I was only an omega, I had no right to refuse.
There were four major packs in Solaris: the Lunashade Pack, the Windshade Pack, the Shadowshade Pack, and the Silvershade Pack.
The heir of the Lunashade Pack was said to be invincible before he fell ill. He was the youngest and most handsome business tycoon of his generation. However, no one had seen his true face, making him quite mysterious.
But it seemed like it was all just rumors. From what I saw, the Lunashade Manor seemed secluded and lacked the grandeur and wealth of one of the four major packs.
Before I married here, my father had sent someone to investigate, and all we knew was that a senior lived here with her grandson with him being the rumored heir who was on the brink of death.
Lila had always dreamed of marrying her two daughters into the four major packs of Solaris. She must've felt bad that the Lunashade Pack had come to this situation.
But in the Werewolf Continent, one must live up to their words. As an alpha of the Wilderness pack, of course he did not want to violate the marriage contract set by the previous generation of alphas.
So, Lila thought of me, the daughter of the alpha's former wife.
I looked at the man in front of me, surrounded by the dilapidated environment and exuding an aura of superiority in his every move, I couldn't help but feel confused.
Bears in the backyard? That was such a rare thing to hear about.
He exuded a cold, noble elegance naturally. It was as if an alpha gave orders, making others unable to help but worship.
As I pondered my situation and wondered how I should reply to his question, he suddenly placed both hands on the table. He gently lowered his eyes, revealing a suffering expression.
Alfred's expressions changed drastically and quickly said, "Mr. Louffrey, I will call the doctor now!"
His two muscular hands on the table were already bulging with veins, and it looked like the sign of a medical condition which was starting to act up.
He really was sick!
Furthermore, I could tell that it was not a mild sickness.
He suddenly turned his head and looked at me with his blood-red eyes. He ordered Alfred, "Take her away!"
Alfred urged me anxiously, "Mrs. Louffrey, you should leave now."
But how could I leave? After all, I entered the Lunashade Pack as the wife of the heir with intention.
I looked at him and said, "You are sick, what illness do you have? I have some medical knowledge and I can treat you."
I was actually a healer with the innate ability of the Moon Goddess's Kiss.
The Moon Goddess's Kiss could heal any werewolf's injuries and illnesses. It was inherited from my mother. Perhaps because I couldn't fully transform into a wolf yet, the Moon Goddess's Kiss has not completely awakened. This ability was so rare and precious that I had to keep hiding my face and identity.
He pursed his thin lips into a cold arc, almost rolling a word out of his throat, "Leave!"
I did not act as he asked, but approached him, "I can smell the scent of lilies, poria, gastrodia, and other precious medicinal herbs on you. These are all herbs for treating... insomnia. If I guessed correctly, you have been suffering from sleep disorders, and unable to sleep at night."
Alfred looked at me in shock. "Mrs. Louffrey…"
Unafraid of his gaze, I kept on asking as if I was an experienced doctor, "To what extent has your sleep disorder reached? You see, once a werewolf's sleep disorder reaches a certain depth, it will seriously affect their mental state. Being unable to rest will not only affect your condition, but can also make you gloomy and irritable, almost to the point of being pathological."
The corners of his narrow eyes increasingly turned red, and a layer of gloom covered his handsome brows. He then reached out and choked me.
"Mrs. Louffrey, please don't provoke Mr. Louffrey anymore! Mr. Louffrey, please let go of Mrs. Louffrey!" Alfred panicked and was about to interfere.
I felt the air being squeezed out of my mouth, and my face started to swell. If I didn't stop him soon, I would be strangled to death.
I quickly reacted and stabbed a silver needle into his neck.
He then loosened his grip and fell onto the sofa.
I gasped for air as I had underestimated his condition.
He was too dangerous. Aside from his mysterious identity, even his sleep disorder could turn him from an elegant and noble man into a crazy monster at any moment.
What a great husband I married.
At this point, I had no way out. Of course I couldn't leave him unattended, so I adjusted my breath and came behind him. I lifted my fair fingers and placed them on his temples and massaged him.
He closed his charming eyes, concealing the redness in his eyes. "So, your so-called 'treatment' was to give me a massage?"
"Don't move, you are the first man I have massaged."
"You said it like you're not the first woman lucky enough to massage me."
I was speechless
He really didn't know how to make conversation.
"Keep me here, we can live together peacefully. You don't ask anything private about me, and I'll help you act in front of your grandma while also treating your insomnia, how about that?" I whispered and negotiated with him.
Although I did not awaken the Moon Goddess's Kiss, my innate healer's ability could've easily given him a good night's sleep.
He did not answer my offer.
Could this be considered as a "yes"?
I gradually stuck a thin silver needle into his pressure point. He finally closed his eyes and collapsed onto the sofa.
I reached out and gently caught his handsome face.
He fell asleep.
Alfred's POV
Did Mrs. Louffrey actually know how to treat Mr. Louffrey?
Had she also just negotiated with Mr. Louffrey?
Others may not know who Mr. Louffrey was, but I did. He was the future alpha of the Lunashade Pack who toyed with the entire industry at a young age, creating a commercial legacy for the Lunashade Pack.
No one has ever dared to negotiate with him like this, not to mention a low-level Omega.
Over the years, all the female werewolves who had the privilege of meeting him hoped that they could catch his attention.
But Mrs. Louffrey was so special that she could even stay calm when his conditions acted up.
What was more surprising was that he fell asleep!
Mr. Louffrey hasn't slept in a long time!
The doctors who had treated him were all very experienced among the Werewolf Continent, but they couldn't seem to do anything about it. It was such a surprise that he fell asleep in her hands!
"Mrs. Louffrey..." I couldn't help but ask.
She placed a finger on her lips and made a gesture of silence. "You can leave now, I'll be here for him."
I turned away and left. I don't know why, but I just felt that she had the ability to comfort others.
Could she be a healer?
But it has been many years since a healer appeared in the Werewolf Continent.
She couldn't be, after all, she was still so young and hadn't even had her wolf yet.
