Chapter 1 — Cursed Wolf

From the mire, born to reign.
I'm the female, your one and only King.
Summer was nearing its end, and the cicadas had already fallen silent.
In the lush, mountainous borderlands, a pale-skinned werewolf girl and a hunched, weathered old woman stood before a tombstone.
They were paying their respects to the werewolf girl's adoptive mother.
The girl's name was Hadley Yorke, and she was born seventeen years ago into a werewolf pack of the North Delsphere—the Brimstone Pack.
Seventeen years ago, the mate of the Brimstone Pack's Alpha, Lysandra Calloway, gave birth to her first daughter after a painful labor.
However, when Lysandra looked expectantly at her newborn, she discovered a white-furred anomaly.
“A white tail?” Lysandra whispered, trembling as she gazed at the infant's snow-white fur. “How can your fur be white? This is the mark of the cursed wolf!”
The pain of childbirth was nothing compared to the despair of realizing her child was a cursed wolf.
In the legends of the werewolf history, the appearance of a white wolf in a pack always heralded upheaval and catastrophe for the tribe.
A thousand years ago, there had been a white wolf named Nikolas. He was an Alpha King who ruled the entire werewolf Delsphere with ruthless cruelty.
Nikolas demanded absolute submission from all werewolves.
Every pack's Alpha was subservient to him.
He also established a system where all wolves' instincts were linked to his power. Any disobedience would result in being remotely strangled to death by him from afar.
He even declared himself above the Moon Goddess.
Rejecting her blessings, he wanted to choose his mates freely and didn't want to be bonded by the Moon Goddess Pact.
Nikolas shattered the werewolves' faith and the freedom of their souls, plunging them into an era of absolute darkness.
Eventually, the Moon Goddess chose a valiant fighter who killed Nikolas while he was gravely injured, liberating the werewolves from his tyrannical reign which had lasted for years.
Before his death, however, Nikolas cursed all future white wolves born in the Delsphere. Every white wolf who was born by stealing his power would flawed beings, and their bloodlines would bring endless disaster to their packs.
No one knew why Nikolas' curse targeted future generations instead of the warrior who defeated him, but over the next millennium, every white wolf born into the werewolf packs indeed brought disaster, and each one proved to be a defective being with incomplete wolf traits.
As a result, any newborn showing signs of the white wolf's bloodline was mercilessly killed by their pack.
Recalling the legends of the white wolf, Lysandra shivered uncontrollably.
Yet as she sniffed the healthy scent of her newborn, a peculiar thought struck her.
My daughter is healthy. She is not a flawed white wolf, nor a being born of stolen power. She is born naturally and is perfectly healthy.
Looking down at her pale-skinned, black-haired daughter, Lysandra made a bold and courageous decision.
She would save her daughter even though her daughter was a white wolf.
She would not let anyone know she had given birth to a white wolf.
If anyone were to find out, her daughter would undoubtedly be killed.
The infant in her arms wailed, and the newfound sense of motherhood filled Lysandra with determination.
She snapped back to reality and hugged her baby tightly.
“Don't be afraid, baby. I will protect you!”
She secretly entrusted her loyal subordinate with the task of delivering her daughter to a rogue couple who owed her a favor. In exchange, the couple gave Lysandra their own newborn daughter to raise in Hadley's place.
The couple left the Brimstone Pack with Hadley, and for seventeen years, no one—except Lysandra and her loyal subordinate who helped her with the delivery—knew the truth.
That was until a week ago when the Brimstone Pack's Alpha, Jasper Yardley, uncovered the secret Lysandra had hidden.
“How dare you hide something this significant from me?”
He discovered that the daughter he had raised for seventeen years was not his biological child.
Instead, his biological daughter was a white wolf.
Jasper felt as if he had missed out on something huge.
That was because every Alpha of the Delsphere, regardless of their pack size, knew one shared secret: the white wolf was never truly a cursed wolf.
In reality, white wolves possessed the potential to become the next Alpha King, capable of uniting all the packs of the werewolf Delsphere.
The reason every white wolf born after Nikolas' death had been defective was because Alphas had secretly harvested Nikolas' blood, attempting to artificially create a new Alpha King. That way, they could control these flawed creatures behind the scenes in order to attain power.
“What have you done?” Jasper roared, his eyes bloodshot as he grabbed Lysandra by the throat. “Who allowed you to give birth to a flawed pup?”
When he was younger, Jasper had genuinely cared for Lysandra, the mate he had chosen. Unlike other Alphas, he had no intention of using her to birth white wolves, as such experiments often resulted in the deaths of both mother and child.
Moreover, he had never entirely believed the ancient legends.
To his shock, Lysandra had given birth to a white wolf.
Lysandra had never betrayed her mate and had given birth to her pups naturally.
“I didn't... I didn't know...” Lysandra weakly defended herself.
Just as she was on the brink of suffocation, Jasper released her.
He knew Lysandra would never betray him, but he refused to believe the white wolf had been naturally conceived.
He resolved to investigate the events of that year and, above all, to retrieve his lost daughter.
After all, she was a white wolf.
With her, his small pack could rise to greatness.
Hiding his brutal side, Jasper smiled at Lysandra. “She's our daughter. We can't abandon her just because she's flawed. Let's bring her home.”
Really? Could the Alpha of a pack truly be willing to accept a cursed werewolf?
Lysandra couldn't believe her mate's deceitful words.
No matter what she thought, she had no choice but to obey the Alpha's decision.
Meanwhile, Hadley, now a beautiful seventeen-year-old girl, received shocking news of her own.
Her biological parents were coming to take her home.

Chapter 2 — The Injured Werewolf

A week ago, the Brimstone Pack had found Hadley. Today was the day she would return to her biological family.
Before reuniting with her parents, Hadley wanted to visit her adoptive mother's grave one last time.
She and her granny, Sylvie Yorke stood quietly in front of the grave.
“Let's head down now. The Brimstone Pack werewolf will be here soon,” Sylvie said. “When you return, you'll be the Alpha's daughter. It's time to forget your past...”
“Okay, Granny. You go on ahead. I'd like to stay a bit longer,” Hadley replied sorrowfully.
Sylvie glanced at the grave once more and let out a sigh “Don't be late,” she reminded Hadley.
Then she turned and left, leaving Hadley alone to silently stare at the gravestone.
Beneath that gravestone lay the woman who had cared for Hadley like her own child for over a decade.
Today, she would return to a home she had never known. Anticipation mingled with apprehension in her heart.
Suddenly, the sound of rustling came from the forest behind her. Hadley's sharp gaze snapped in that direction.
Something was moving through the woods, coming straight toward her!
She spun around warily. Her long, curled lashes caught the sunlight and cast faint shadows over her eyes, giving her an air of melancholy.
A figure clad in camouflage emerged from the thicket with a potent scent of blood clinging onto them.
It was a shapeshifter in the form of a male werewolf with an incredibly powerful aura.
His entire body was covered in camouflage paint that obscured its fur color. Its level and rank were impossible to determine, masked by the faint scent of some kind of potion.
However, Hadley quickly noticed the red symbol on its forehead—it was the mark of the Bloodmoon Pack!
Why would a werewolf from the Bloodmoon Pack show up here?
Her heart churned with waves of alarm.
The rustling grew louder in the woods behind the werewolf.
“Run! It's dangerous!” the male werewolf growled weakly, warning Hadley to leave.
His low roar seemed to use up the last of his strength. He stumbled mid-run, his massive body collapsing in front of Hadley.
Once he fell, he didn't move again, his blood soaking the crushed grass beneath him.
Hadley frowned slightly. The concentrated scent of blood told her the werewolf had fainted from losing too much blood.
Without immediate intervention, he would die.
At that moment, two more werewolves in their shifted forms emerged from the woods.
“Well, well, what do we have here?” said one with brown fur, sniffing excitedly. “A young female werewolf!”
“Let's take her back. Been a while since we've had some fun with a young one!” said the second werewolf, with gray fur as he stared at Hadley.
Perhaps it had been a while since they last saw a female werewolf. The gray werewolf's eyes turned lecherous as he spotted a gorgeous young female werewolf.
Hadley's heart was pounding like a drum.
Having lived in the borderlands for eleven years, she knew this area was rife with rogue werewolves and extremely dangerous.
In the midst of her anxiety, she felt a flash of relief that she had sent Sylvie down the mountain earlier.
The two wolves were tall and strong, at least gamma fighters.
She might be able to handle one game fighter, but there were two.
Hadley's eyes darted about. Raising her hands in surrender, she pleaded, “Don't hurt me. I'm just an ordinary werewolf...”
The gray werewolf circled Hadley, then shifted to his human form. He lifted her chin with rough fingers. Hadley was gorgeous, and her skin was soft to the touch.
He licked his thick lips and grinned. “Not bad, you're pretty and soft. Come with us.”
As Hadley took in his lecherous smile, her long and thick lashes fluttered gently.
Gulping, she responded timidly, “Fine. Just don't kill me. I'll do whatever you want. Let me pack my things, and I'll go with you.”
Her timid response instantly fueled the werewolf's desire to torment. He smirked lewdly and said, “Since anything goes, you're up first!”
At his words, the brown werewolf let out a low, pleased growl.
The gray werewolf grabbed Hadley's slender wrist, yanking her toward him with force.
As she collided with his chest, Hadley's left hand slid along the side of her skirt, fingers twisting to retrieve a hidden dagger.
In an instant, she drove the hilt of the dagger into the base of the gray werewolf's neck, causing him to collapse to the ground instantly.
“Ugh...” the gray werewolf groaned, his eyes meeting Hadley's gaze before he collapsed unconscious.
Her delicate, timid appearance masked the ice and gloom in her eyes.
She had outsmarted them.
“What the f*ck did you do?” Sensing something off, the brown werewolf snarled, baring his fangs as he lunged.
Hadley shoved the gray wolf's body aside and rolled to the gravestone. Reaching into the basket, she grabbed a handful of powder and thrust it at the brown werewolf.
The white powder dispersed throughout the air. Upon inhaling it, the brown wolf felt dizzy. His movements slowed, his eyes turning white as he crumpled to the ground.
The powder was a homemade tranquilizer meant to repel wild animals. Without an antidote, it would keep him unconscious for an hour.
Standing, Hadley glanced at her skirt, now dirty and torn from her fall. Sylvie had just made it for her.
She frowned and muttered, “It's all dirty now. Granny just made it for me.”
She then turned her attention to the camouflaged werewolf and examined its wound.
The camouflaged werewolf no longer had the strength to maintain his wolf form and had transformed back into a vulnerable human shape.
His right shoulder blade bore a deep wound, still bleeding profusely.
She knelt beside him, spreading her hands over the injury as she whispered, “Goddess' Kiss.”
A strange light emanated from her hands, enveloping his wound.
Moments later, the injury miraculously healed.
Hadley possessed the legendary healing ability of the highest-level Alpha King, Goddess' Kiss.
She was no ordinary seventeen-year-old girl without an inner wolf. In fact, she was unlike any other wolf. While most werewolves couldn't shift until at least sixteen, Hadley had gained her wolf instincts at just seven years old.
However, as she acquired her wolf instincts, the pack she belonged to at the time experienced a disaster that she would never be able to forget.
Her expression darkened. She was unwilling to dwell on those painful memories.
She looked coldly at the man's now-healed shoulder. “You're completely healed. That won't do. Mother warned me not to let other wolves know that I have the Goddess' Kiss. An Alpha wolf who has received the legacy could easily deduce my true identity.”
Thinking quickly, she nicked the healed spot with her dagger, creating a small, superficial wound.
Blood began to seep out again.
“Oops, maybe I overdid it...” she muttered, slightly guilty.
Meanwhile, Caspian Quade stirred. The faint sensation of the dagger's blade grazing his skin was nothing compared to the overwhelming pull in his soul.
It's her! Wake up! She's our mate! We've found her! His inner wolf howled with excitement.
Hadley had just finished dressing his wound and was about to bandage it when a large hand suddenly gripped her wrist.
“Don't be alarmed. I'm only tending your injury,” she explained.
Caspian was weak, but his gaze burned with intensity as he locked eyes with her.
Staring at her like a predator staring at its prey, he called out slowly, “Seraphina.”

Chapter 3 — Does She Have A Wolf

Upon hearing this name, Hadley was utterly shocked.
Only the relatives of the old Alpha from the Bloodmoon Pack knew her name!
Could this man be a high-ranking werewolf from the Bloodmoon Pack?
No, she couldn't allow herself to be found by anyone from the Bloodmoon Pack!
Hadley immediately broke free from the man's grip and distanced herself from him.
Just as Hadley was about to make her escape, the whumping sound of a helicopter grew from a distant hum to a near thunder. It was the man's reinforcements arriving.
She glanced at the helicopter hovering above her head.
The cabin door swung open before a ladder was dropped down, and men descended from above. Immediately, she turned and ran.
Caspian propped himself up, watching the figure gradually fade into the distance. A joyful smile played at the corners of his mouth. “So this is where you've been hiding. I'll come back for you...”
At a certain rundown wooden house at the foot of the mountain.
Two black BMWs were parked in front of the house, while the yard was filled with werewolves who had gathered to watch the spectacle.
In the living room, the elderly Sylvie was hosting guests from the city. They were members of the Brimstone Pack: the Alpha, Jasper, his Luna, Lysandra, and their adopted daughter, Selene, who was originally from the Yorke family.
The trio was dressed in extravagant attire, which stood in stark contrast to the dilapidated wooden hut overflowing with various types of herbs.
Selene cast a glance at the grimy, worn-out teacup in front of her, feeling a strong sense of disgust deep within.
After taking another look around the living room, the peeling, mottled walls and the haphazardly strewn herbs on the floor caught her eye. To make matters worse, it was the height of summer, yet there wasn't even an air conditioner in the room. The only source of relief was a rickety ceiling fan overhead, squeaking and creaking as it spun. This only added to her growing disdain and resistance.
How could she possibly be the daughter of such a destitute werewolf?
This shabby pack couldn't even produce an Alpha!
She was the daughter of the Brimstone Pack's Alpha! No one could strip her of that identity!
“Dad, why hasn't Hadley arrived yet? Does she not want to see me? Does she think I stole her parents?” Selene, with a look of grievance, said while clinging to Jasper's arm.
This was her facade. She had always known what her parents favored about her, and what kind of words would work in her favor.
“What are you babbling about? This wasn't your fault, so how could she blame you!” Jasper said sharply.
Before he arrived, he had already formed a plan in mind. He planned to establish his dominance as an Alpha in front of Hadley, with the aim of controlling her more effectively.
They would bring Hadley back to the Brimstone Pack, but they wouldn't abandon Selene either.
After all, Selene still had other uses. The seventeen years spent raising her couldn't have been for nothing.
Upon hearing her father's words, Selene's expression became even more aggrieved. “Then why would she make everyone wait so long...”
She then turned to Sylvie. “Hey! Could you go and find Hadley to tell her to hurry up?”
She hadn't used any form of address, and even though the sentence was structured as a question, it was delivered with the authoritative tone of someone giving orders to a servant.
Sylvie had been observing Selene's impolite actions all along. At this moment, she let out a soft sigh.
She was just about to stand up when Lysandra spoke up to stop her.
“No need to look for her. If she doesn't return in five minutes, we'll leave without her,” Lysandra said, feigning indifference.
Although Lysandra didn't understand why her mate insisted on bringing their daughter home even after learning she was the cursed white wolf, she knew he wasn't doing this out of paternal love despite what he portrayed to the world.
As a mother, she possessed an instinctive urge to protect her daughter.
She hoped that by adopting this approach, by showing she didn't like Hadley, she could divert the attention of the Brimstone Pack wolves away from Hadley.
The less attention was on Hadley, the safer she was!
Upon hearing this, Jasper shot Lysandra a glare. He had gone through much effort to find the white wolf, so he couldn't afford to make this trip for nothing.
He was just about to say something when suddenly, a voice called out from outside the house.
“Granny, I'm back.”
Upon hearing the sound, everyone turned to look. They saw a tall and slender young woman, standing against the light at the doorway.
Though she appeared youthful and innocent, she exuded an aura of authority that demanded respect, as if she were born a ruler.
Jasper paused, sensing a pressure coming from Hadley. It was the hierarchical pressure that happened among high-level werewolves, and it was very apparent. He watched Hadley nervously.
Could it be that Hadley already had an inner wolf?
She's supposed to be flawed, so how could she possibly have a wolf? She should have to live her entire life without having her own wolf!
