Chapter 1 — (edited preview)

Nimue's POV.
When an Alpha calls his pack member into his office, it means he wanted to promote them, but that was otherwise in my case.
Instead of handing me a promotional letter, he handed me an envelope with coldness in his voice, whipped with malice and anger.
“Unseal the envelope, you filthy, cursed wolf,” He pressed.
The word ‘cursed’ punched a gasp out of my mouth, my knees almost giving out beneath me.
My secret, that I’m a cursed wolf, the one I had hidden for the past eighteen years seemed to be unveiled. The Alpha had caught me, I knew.
I couldn't control how my hands trembled as I peeled off the sealing tape on the envelope.
My bone snapped, breathless as the content of the letter burned into my eyes.
“Nimue Flodd, Congratulations.! You've been admitted to the Ravenswood academy!”
Ravenswood academy — a school of cursed werewolves— with my name boldly inscribed on it?
As I stared at the letter the first thing that flashed through my mind was him.
Alpha Simon!
The name of the academy always comes alongside his name.
The cruelest Lycan king I've ever heard of. He was the principal of the academy. He was known for his fierce manner of taming cursed wolves of my kind.
I haven't seen him, but I've heard dangerous rumors about him: He doesn't smile. He doesn't Joke. He doesn't make friends with his students, just focused solely on his assignment, and lastly, I mean the one that burst my head was that emotion was an abomination to him.
The admission to his academy made my heart thumped, but the thought of being tamed by him almost made me collapse.
How could I survive in the school of the beast with such personalities? The thought made a turbulence of adrenaline run through my veins. I was doomed. Wasn't I?
I fell on my knees, my heart thumping as I pleaded with a shaking voice. “ Alpha please —I can’t go there—”
He cut me off, “ You plunged a knife into the only person that loves you when you were just seven and watched her bleed to death. Shouldn't I send you there?"
Air fled my lungs, my bones snapping. The pain of remembering what I wished not to remember again turmoil inside of me.
He was right. I was just seven when I killed my own mother. It wasn't Intentional. That was the repercussion of keeping my kind closer to other wolves. That was the danger of a cursed wolf who couldn't control her wolf.
That was the only secret I had kept hidden for years, unbeknownst to anyone except my boyfriend, Aiden.
But how come my secret was revealed? The only person that knew about my secret was my boyfriend, Aiden, and I could swear on the Moon goddess he wouldn't by anything reveal it.
The boy who had shared my first kiss had promised me forever. I could not believe he would betray me.
But I do not have time to consider that, my eyes brimmed with tears as I glared at the admission letter, it was decided, I would spend the rest of my life under the control of a beast.
“Alpha Simon has signed your admission letter and very soon his guards would be here to drag you out of the pack to his academy. Enjoy your new home, Nimue.”
I left Alpha’s presence with so much heartache, maybe I shall ask for my boyfriend’s help.
I found my way to my boyfriend's room. As I moved closer, his sweet scent, like the mixture of tangerine and beetroot seeped into my nostrils, easing the pain in my heart. But unlike usual, the ease didn't last the moment a strange scent hit my nose, like something disgustingly familiar.
I froze, confused. What was going on?
My heart beat shot up, sweat prickling all over my palms. This strange scent would only mean one thing: He was cheating on me with another she-wolf.
Well, even at that, I didn't believe it. Aiden couldn't cheat on me. He had told me he loved me so much and would always choose me, even in the next life. So how could he cheat?
My fingers trembled as they wrapped around the doorknob. The door swung open, revealing my greatest fear. My eyes bulged, my heart pounding so hard like it would jump out of my chest.
Aiden, my boyfriend, was with Delilah, the daughter of the Alpha. Their closeness made his betrayal clear.
He was on top of her, stroking her like the love of his life, the way he had never been with me. My inside sickened as he appreciated every part of her body down to the little inches of her hair.
Their sinful mess was so passionate that they didn't even realize I was frozen by the door. They couldn't even hear my silent sobs.
“I'm sure the Alpha would have handed her the envelope, and soon Alpha Simon would send his guards to drag her out.”
Aiden was deep into her, thrusting her passionately with locked gazes. His voice muttered beneath his breath, and her pleasurable moans reminded me how useless and unwanted I was.
She feigned a smile, biting her lower lips.” You have fooled her for so long, Aiden. You're really good at your bad games.”
He smiled, going deeper into her. “ She's just a cursed wolf who's desperate in need of love. I wonder how rotten her brain is to think we could get married.”
His voice was like a blade on my throat, cutting deeper into my skin as he spoke. The only one I had trusted with my secret, my body, and future, didn't even see me any less of a garbage. The knife that had already been buried in my heart twisted deeper.
I was nothing more than a desperate cursed wolf to him. Someone her biggest secret didn't amount to anything to him. Obviously, he made my secret known, cheated on me so he could be with the Alpha's daughter.
The room was filled with the smell of fresh sweat and fluids. Pleasurable moans echoed through the walls, buckling my feet beneath me. If not for my grasp on the doorknob, I would have slipped over.
With the little strength remaining inside of me, I forced my throat open, but the only thing I could mutter was his name. " A- Aiden!" My voice cracked, accompanied by fresh brewed tears. " What are you doing?"
They froze.
A Victorious smirk rested on her lips as she just tugged the sheet lazily over her chest.
“Oh,” she said, with a mock surprise. “You should’ve knocked.”
Aiden turned slowly, his expression unreadable. No guilt. No shame. Just irritation, as though I was the one unwanted here.
“Why are you here, Nimue?” he asked coldly, his voice void of the calmness it once carried.
"I’m your mate, Aiden! How could you—”
Delilah laughed, the sound like a dagger. “Mate?” she interrupted, her tone dripping with mockery. “Oh, poor thing. He hasn’t told you?”
I looked at him with shock in my eyes, my blood boiling. Told me what?
“You don’t belong beside me, Nimue,” he said. “You never did. The only reason I kept you around was because I pitied you.”
“Pity?” The word broke from me like glass shattering. “You told me you loved me.”
She snickered. “Oh, come on, Aiden. Don’t be too hard on her. She's just a poor puppet."
"I never loved you, Nimue. You're cursed and you would ruin everything."
My mouth spun open. He just called me cursed? The man that once wiped away my tears and promised to help me tame my curse was throwing it right to my face. This stung deeper than the sting of betrayal.
My body was rigid, unable to talk, unable to speak. It was as if I wasn't existing anymore. My body was trembling, but they seemed not to care about how much the humiliation I could take. Aiden didn't care.
He pulled her closer to himself and they both locked lips like lovesick couples while I rooted in my position, my heart bleeding as I watched them.
I couldn't take the heart-wrenching view anymore. I wiped off the tears on my face and barged out of his room, pacing as fast as I could, away from the snoozing sounds of their kisses.
Turning to the next corridor were three giant men. Their gazes were ferocious and mean. They adjusted positions, surroundings me like a prey among predators.
“It's time, Miss Nimue." One of the men plunge a cold syringe into my neck from behind. I couldn't protest. I couldn't scream. I couldn't stop my eyes from shutting down completely.

Chapter 2 — (edited preview)

LOREN'S POV
My body so close to her is the most dangerous thing I can ever do to myself. It's like tingly pins on my body, like a great tingly electric current spread throughout my body, causing every single part of my body from my hair down to my fingernails to come alive.
I swallowed as I placed my slanted hand against the wall, trapping her between my body and the wall.
She stared up at me, all doe eyed and questioning. I got lost in the dark pool of her eyes, those beautiful stary skies that could trap even the strongest warrior in its enormous beauty.
“Prince Loren…” she started to say but was immediately cut shot by the imposition of my lips crashing against hers. I pulled her close, her hair in my hand, her hair all silky and curly.
I waited a bit, teasing her a bit with my kiss, waiting to see if she wants this as much as I do or if she would do the most acceptable thing by pushing me away.
I waited for the rejection, for the potential slap, for the HR report that was bound to come the next day.
My heart thudded nervously in my chest as I thought about the fact that she could push me away and that could be this beginning of the end, that would confirm what I already fear, that…the impending rejection from Yuri would confirm what I already fear.
It would confirm that I am indeed a stupid fool for thinking that a crush that had happened when we were only kids would still be present.
The impending rejection from Yuri would prove that I am a fool for thinking that she loves me as much as I love her, that that innocent little crush had metastasized into something bigger, something more consuming for her like it did for me.
“Tell me I am wrong for wanting you as much as I do. Push me away right now before things get any more intense,” I whispered against her face, lips pulled away a little but still close enough to be claimed.
I waited for her potential rejection but instead she pulled me close and her lips intermingled in a sensual dance that only we knew.
As I leaned closer, she pushed me away and slapped my face.
What the hell?! I stared in shock, asking for an explanation with my expression but she said nothing and just ran away with such great fear in her eyes that it terrified me.
I stood there unsure of what had happened, worried about why she had reacted the way that she did. I was worried that I might have misread thr signs and thought she had wanted what she did not.
“Shit!” I yelled as I ran my fingers through my hair in a mix of frustration and confusion. I paced, playing and replaying the scenario in my head. I could not help getting lost in her scent all over again, could not help getting lost in the memory of the kiss, that moment that had tethered the line of surrealism and reality.
That beautiful moment that I had no doubt would stay glued to my head, and maybe even haunt me for as long as I would live.
I was about to walk away and write everything off as an unfortunate-fortunate even, as an unrequited kind of romance, as a love that would never find its way home, a love that only I feel.
I was just going to try to find a way to forget it when Jojo walked out of the shadows.
“Your highness,” she said with her head slightly bowed low and that annoying smile on her lips.
Oh fuck! How much of that did she see?! I do not trust her, I know damn well that she is working for my father as some sort of spy! I know damn well that she is not to be trusted!
Her seeing what happened can only mean one thing!
I grabbed her by the neck, my hands were strong and steady against her neck ready to squeeze the life breath our of her lung.
Her seeing what had happened can only mean one thing…Yuri, my Yuri is in danger. I know she cannot wait to spill what she had just seen to the king.
I saw red, the image of my father killing Yuri, taking away the one thing that matters in my life enraged me and all that anger was directed at the unfortunate spy he had recruited to carry out his dirty work.
“What did you see?!” I yelled Witt my had still around her neck, squeezing the breath out of her.
“Your highness, you are hurting me,” she struggled to say.
“Please stop,” she whimpered with tears falling from her eyes. The stupid tears did nothing to soften my resolve, ot was either her or Yuri and I will certainly pick Yuri ten times over.
“How dare you! How dare you spy on me!” I yelled, she gasped, struggling to catch her breath.
“Let her go, you are going to kill our mate,” my wolf seethed within me, his anger burned like a thousand hot coals but I ignored it and continued to squeeze the life out of her.
“I said let her go!” My wolf yelled, causing me to lose my balance.
“Fuck!” I yelled as Jojo ran away with tears in her eyes. My heart thudded in fear as I thought about her potential next move. She is my father's spy, her lap dog sent to watch and report my every move back to him… that is probably what she's about to to.
She will go and tell him what she saw…at this point Yuri is no longer save, my father will do to her what he does to every woman I fall in love with.
He will kill her.

Chapter 3 — (edited preview)

My lips pulsed as she landed. My eyebrows furrowed in surprise, or let me just say slight confusion. How could Alpha Simon's daughter of all people be my roommate? Like it didn't sit well by me. I was just a low life scum who was dumbed enough to be easily manipulated. I was just a cursed wolf who plunged a knife into the heart of her own mother. A mere adoptive orphan. I didn't deserve her, I was sure.
Besides, she was way too friendly to be the beast’s daughter. However, though, a part of me believed her.
Reluctantly, I took her hand, and faked a smile alongside with her. “ I'm Nimue, but you can call me Nim.”
“Nim,” She rehearsed. “ Nim, the fresher’s party will begin in some minutes, you should let get ready.”
With that he grabbed my hand and led the way. That was the very first time I felt something different in my life. The mixture of friendship and care all combined to quench the fire of betrayal and humiliation burning in my chest.
The cheers of students buzzed over the walls as we passed through the midst of other students. I paced faster past them, narrowing my eyes as though If our gaze met they'd devour me into pieces. Well, no one dares cross my path as we walked up to my dorm; everyone just threw us cocky glances like a hero saving a puppet like me.
We pulled some tantrums on the way and I never could have imagined JoJo, Alpha Simon's daughter to come up with such sense of humor. My nerves relaxed.
Our next stop was our room. She pushed the door and took me in. The room was beautiful, glowing softly under the golden light streaming through tall glass windows. The ambiance was the direct opposite of where I had lived for eighteen years of my life. The room smelled like rose flowers and something expensive.
“So beautiful,” I exclaimed. “ You must be so flowered with a princess treatment.” I praised, wondering how lucky she was from the Moon Goddess.
Chuckling. “ My father would go the farthest part of the earth to treat me like a Princess.”
I tilted my head in doubt. As I wallowed in disbelief, she chimed in.
“Guess you must have heard a lot of rumors about my father.” She Smirked.
“Are they true?” I muttered nervously, glancing at the door.
“Kind of,” She pretended to be thinking with her first finger in her mouth. “Relax. He doesn't bite. He doesn't kill. He just scares people into thinking he might.”
She bursted into laughter, cupping her mouth with her hand to subdue the effect of her laughter. She must had really been amazed by how much I feared the man I had not even seen.
“Are you also his student?” My voice barely escaped my lips, yet still audible enough to her hearings.
She paused, and dragged in a deep breath as though the question weighed heavily in her chest. “ I was only nine when I chopped off my brother's brain. Let my mom burn to death, and my younger sister lost her sight. He exiled himself as the pack leader, and created this prestigious academy, starting with me as his student.”
My eyes piqued with surprise, lips pouting. My throat was too heavy for words. I just stood frozen on my spot contrasting our differences. I only plunged a knife into my mom's heart and watched her bleed to death, but JoJo, had so many blood and crimes on her neck yet she still chose to be happy with herself, and accepted her curse.
“I'm sorry,” My lips finally let out in a slow, reluctant tone.
“It's fine, Nim.”
Sighing with a feigned grin, she yanked open her wardrobe and started tossing hangers of fine dresses at me. The first two fell on my catch while the rest fell on the floor as I was lost In awe. Those dress were amazingly beautiful.
“Here, Nim,” She smiled, her tone laced with excitement. “ You should totally put on one of these for tonight. My dad sent it to me last week, but unfortunately they didn't fit.”
“Wow, really? They look expensive” I asked, admiring the dresses.
“Of course, if my dad saw you in one of these dresses, I bet he wouldn't be too harsh on you,” She giggled. “ My dad loves red gowns with heels.”
I chuckled at her words, blushing.
“Try them on, and pick your choices,” She urged. “I’ll head out for a bit. Maybe when I'm back you'll already be charming the world.”
With that , she winked at me, grabbed her phone and left.
—-----
After spending what felt like hours to try those gown on, I finally got one that made tonight feel like the beginning of something new.
I chose a red dress. In the mirror, I saw someone ready to embrace her identity and build a better future.
As I stepped out of the room, the air was filled with perfume. The sound of music alongside excited chatters blasted off the ambiance. Girls comparing lip gloss shades. Boys joking about who they would dance with tonight. The academy felt so pretty much alive, and it did flustered happiness inside of me.
Eyes turned to me, as though assessing me from the top to the bottom. For a moment, I felt over the Moon, yet, I paced faster to pass through the eyes barking at me.
Juggling on my heels when a familiar boy stopped in front of me. ETHAN. I froze, that boy again?
He folded his arms across his chest, grinning. “Well, well, look who decided to turn into a princess tonight.”
My stomach churned at the sight of him. I heaved a deep sigh.
I snubbed him and walked past him but he strode into my way again with a wide grin.
“Get off my way!” I yelled at him.
But he only dust off an invisible dirt on his shirt as though my threat didn't matter.
“Didn't know you could clean up this well, newbie,” He teased. “ You'll be my lady tonight.”
I crinkled, pulling away from him. “In your imagination!”
As I pushed past him, he grabbed my hands and pushed me to the wall. His hands grasp my wrist tightly as he leaned into me. I gasped as it hurts, struggling to get off his grasp.
“You're weak, girl. Three of you can't get you out of my grasp.” He pressed.
His words arose a bile inside of me. I dangled my legs, and grunted heavily to get free from his grasp but all my efforts were nothing compared to his gripping force.
“Let go of me,” I screamed. Laughter emanated from the students passing by.
“What about me considering your request if only you dance with me tonight?” He smirked.
I spat at his face, grunting. “ That's nothing close to possible.”
“Then I guess you rotten in my grasp with your pride.”
My eyes were already paled, tears brewing inside as Ethan humiliated me. I wished I could tear him apart, but I was totally weak. My wrist hurts, and blood seemed to stopped flowing through my veins. I knew the longer I delay his request, the longer the humiliation. It was obvious I couldn't get out of his grasp on my own or have someone to help me out. I rather conform.
But as my lips were about to part for words, a voice, like a thunderbolt, blared from behind, sending a jolt of shock through my spine.
“Let go of her!!”
The man's voice alone was like a spell on Ethan— a spell that brought out the baby in him, and made him shiver.
Ethan Fred me immediately, and froze up. Sweat beamed onto his face, his body trembling alongside those around us. Some had fled fearfully under the sound of his voice, and the hallway, once buzzed with mockery voices, was now eerily quiet.
The man that just showed up seemed to be twice my age, and he was the most handsome man I had ever seen in my entire life. His shoulder widened like a demigod, and his sexy biceps could make any girl swoon over him. His eyes were sharp and precise with an aura of aloofness. No doubt, I knew he was the one—---- the cruelest Lycan king and the principal of this academy—-ALPHA SIMON.
