Chapter 1

Ruth's Point Of View
I closed the door, shutting out the loud music.
The Frostscarred pack had been chosen to host this year's annual Alpha meeting. Everyone in the pack was excited, especially my brother, Silas Riverwood, the Alpha of Frostscarred.
Silas had promised to make this Alpha meeting one to remember, but he completely forgot that today marked the anniversary of our parents' deaths.
On this chaotic night, my bedroom was the only quiet place left.
"Ruth, what are you doing? Why aren't you ready yet?" Omega maid Eleanor pushed open the door, looking surprised.
"Just what it looks like. I’m taking off my makeup." I wiped away my eyeshadow with a makeup remover pad, my reflection in the mirror cold and expressionless.
"Why are you removing your makeup? You should be getting dressed. The Blue Moon Ball after the Alpha meeting is important for you. Sweetheart, you're of age now. Maybe you’ll meet your mate tonight.” Eleanor came up behind me and draped a gown over the back of my chair.
"No, Eleanor. I don't want to go to the ball. I don't want to see anyone." I turned to look at Eleanor from my seat at the vanity.
Eleanor looked at me and sighed. "Silas will be really upset when he finds out.”
I understood her concern, but I didn't care. I just wanted to go to the cemetery and pay my respects to my parents.
Skipping the Blue Moon Ball was probably my final quiet protest to Silas. Ever since our parents passed away, Silas and I had leaned on each other to survive the hardest years.
But everything changed after he married Moira Moore from the Frostscarred pack. Last month, I only saw him three times at the Packhouse, and I hadn’t even gotten the chance to ask why he chose to host the meeting on this exact date.
I had hoped he would give me a reasonable explanation. But now, I was completely disappointed, and I didn't want to wait any longer. Even if I had to go alone, I had to visit the cemetery.
“Maybe you can go after the ball? You shouldn’t waste this chance," Eleanor said softly, still trying to persuade me. But I didn’t care.
With my stubbornness, Eleanor sighed and said nothing more.
Eleanor had been a rogue, adopted by our parents. She was only three years older than I. After our parents passed, she had taken care of me like a sister. Honestly, she felt more like family than Silas did.
I tried to comfort Eleanor as much as possible, saying, “Don’t worry, Eleanor. I won’t let Silas blame you.”
Visiting the cemetery had to be done in secret, and I had learned how to sneak past the guards easily. Ever since my wolf, Lunette, awakened, annoying guards hadn't caught me.
With a bang, the door of the room suddenly burst open. No one had entered yet, but I could already smell that disgusting, sweet scent.
Sure enough, Luna Moira walked in.
She had a contemptuous smile on her lips, looking down at me with her chin up, followed by her Omega servants.
"Ruth, why are you wasting time? The banquet is about to begin," Luna Moira said as she approached.
Honestly, Luna Moira was very beautiful. She had a mane of curly golden hair, sapphire blue eyes, and a seductive beauty mark at the corner of her eye. Tonight, she wore a silver evening gown that showed off her figure with every step.
Still, I had never liked her. But she was my brother's mate and Luna of the Frostscarred pack. As a member of the pack, I was expected to show respect.
I frowned and lied, "I won't be late."
"Good. Today, Silas is planning to introduce you to the Alpha of the Irontusk pack tonight. I think your marriage will bring some surprising changes to both packs," she said, clearly satisfied with herself.
My eyes widened in disbelief.
The Alpha of the Irontusk pack was already in his forties. He already had a Luna, but he also marked many other she-wolves as his mistresses. How could my brother offer me to a man like that?
Luna Moira leaned down and lifted my chin with one finger, whispering, “Get dressed up nicely, my little beauty. I'm sure the Alpha of the Irontusk pack will be impressed with your beauty."
I slapped her hand away, fury rushing through me.
Anger consumed my mind, and I shouted at Luna Moira, "I refuse! I don't believe Silas would do this."
Luna Moira's eyes darkened suddenly, and she sneered, "It's not up to you anymore."
Two Delta female warriors at her side grabbed my arms and started tearing at my clothes.
I struggled hard, kicking over a nearby chair. The irises my parents had left behind were scattered across the floor.
"Tear them apart, Lunette. Moira has a disgusting smell. She has betrayed the Moon Goddess!" my wolf, Lunette, growled in my mind.
I didn't understand what Lunette meant, but Moira had always smelled awful to me. I had hated her scent from the first day I met her.
I shouted, "Who dares to lay filthy hands on me! I am Alpha's sister!"
The two Deltas hesitated, then let go of my arm.
"Calm down, Ruth, don't be like this," Eleanor whispered, holding me tightly, shaking her head in panic.
My eyes started to turn red with anger, but I knew I couldn’t lose control. There were many pack leaders outside. If I caused a scene, it would only bring shame to the Frostscarred pack.
Luna Moira seemed to sense my hesitation. She looked at me mockingly, her gaze falling on the iris on the ground as she slowly walked away.
"Stop, what are you going to do?" I exclaimed.

Chapter 2

Ruth's Point Of View
It was too late. Moira's high heels mercilessly crushed the flowers I had prepared for my parents. One by one, each bloom was stomped into the ground, completely ruined.
"This is the price for disrespecting me," Luna Moira said and smirked with satisfaction. I knew she always took pleasure in breaking my heart.
"Clean up yourself and this mess, the Alpha of Irontusk pack and your brother are waiting for you." With that, Moira turned and left the dressing room with a victorious air.
I stared at the destroyed flowers, furious to the point of tears.
"How could she treat me like this! How dare she!"
"Ruth, everything will be okay," Eleanor said softly, already crying. But her words felt hollow.
I didn’t want to believe Silas would do this to me, but reality didn’t care what I believed.
"No one is going to protect us now. We have to depend on ourselves," I said, wiping away my tears and helping Eleanor to her feet.
"What are you going to do, Ruth? Please don’t do anything reckless,” she said, her eyes full of worry.
I glanced in the direction of the closet, sneering as I spoke, "Don't worry. I'm not stupid, but I won’t let them control me, either.”
As the banquet time approached, I walked to the venue with a cold expression. I had put on heavy makeup, dark circles around my eyes, my hair messily piled on top of my head, and dark green lipstick that made me look poisoned.
God knows how long I searched the closet to find a pair of fishnet stockings. I even hid a small dagger in my boots. If that old man from the Irontusk pack dared to lay a hand on me, I would stab him without hesitation.
Just as I was about to step into the banquet hall, someone grabbed my arm, making me jump.
"Ruth, have you lost your mind? What are you trying to do dressed like this?" The person grabbing me was Silas, and he angrily pulled me into a corner.
"Hey, you're hurting me!" I shouted, trying to shake free. His grip was so strong that my wrist turned red immediately.
"I know you want to ruin the party tonight, but I'm warning you, you'd better behave." Silas lowered his voice. "I’ve already arranged the marriage, and there will be no changes. Don't think about causing trouble. Now go back to your room, wipe off that ridiculous makeup, and then I will personally take you to meet the Alpha of the Irontusk pack. Do you understand?"
When I heard Silas' words, I felt like my blood had frozen. This was actually his decision!
"There's no way I'm going to take my makeup off and meet that person!" I yelled at Silas angrily.
"Shut up!" Silas snapped, then slapped me hard across the face.
I fell to the ground, my mind going blank. Since I was a child, Silas had never hurt me.
I saw Silas wave his hand, and two guards came in from outside. He ordered, "Take off her makeup! And get someone to redo it properly."
The two guards immediately obeyed, grabbing my wrists and lifting me off the ground.
I struggled with all my strength, but the guards were too strong. I lowered my head and bit one of them on the arm as hard as I could. The man cried out in pain and let go. I took the chance to run.
Silas yelled behind me, "You brat! Bring her back to me!"
I tried to run forward, silently shedding tears. Tears fell to the corners of my mouth, which Silas had injured, and I twitched in pain.
The man who had just hurt me was no longer my brother, Silas. Now, he was just Moira's mate, the respected Alpha of the Frostscarred pack.
There were no lights in the corridor on the second floor, so I ran using memory alone, all the while hearing the sound of footsteps chasing me.
Silas's men were closing in, and I couldn’t let them catch me.
Just as I was about to go downstairs, I heard one of the guards sneer behind me, "Where are you going to run to?"
We were about to be caught.
I froze in my tracks, closed my eyes, and waited for judgment.
When I was panicking, someone grabbed my wrist, and a faint, cold fragrance reached my nose. Then, a pleasant male voice sounded. "Follow me."
I didn’t resist. I followed the man without hesitation. I didn’t know why, but he made me feel safe.
Eventually, he led me to an open space. The guards were gone; we had lost them.
"Thank you," I said. In the dim moonlight, I looked up at the man who rescued me. His beautiful blue eyes sparkled in the moonlight.
"You're welcome. It's just a piece of cake," he said with a small smile. His brown eyes were charming, and there was a blue stubble on his chin. The collar of his shirt was slightly open, revealing a hint of muscle, which made him look rugged and strong.
But he looked at me as if he were looking at prey, which made me a little nervous, and my heart was beating violently.
Lunette started to howl softly. The man’s scent was addictive. It was the smell of cashmere fabric that had been exposed to the sun all day in the summer, mixed with the smell of fir resin.
I had never felt anything like this before. What was happening to me?
I stepped back, trying to distance myself from him.
He stepped closer, leaned in a little, and asked, "Are you okay?"
I tried to stay calm. "I'm fine. Did it delay your work?"
"I'm glad you're safe. You really shouldn't go to such an awful dinner," he said, smiling again.
I looked at his profile and couldn't remember at all which pack's Alpha he was. Had he attended the Alpha meeting this morning?
But he seemed very unhappy with the dinner. Of course, I also thought the dinner was terrible, so I asked curiously, "Why do you say that?"
"The Alpha of the Frostscarred pack doesn't seem to be very smart. He actually chose a woman like this as Luna. It's ridiculous," he said, a mocking smile tugging at his lips.
I frowned at his insult toward Silas, squinted at him, and said, "Are you secretly in love with Luna Moira? You slandered Frostscarred's Alpha because she rejected you."
The man turned his head and looked at me, that same smirk still on his face. "What nonsense are you talking about? I was the one who rejected her. Silas is just her second choice. Believe it or not, if I go down and tell her that I want her now, she'll run away with me immediately."
I burst out laughing. "Oh my god, I didn't realize you were so full of yourself."
I could still smell his scent as he held my waist, and I felt the blood in my veins start to boil again.
His warm breath was suddenly at my ear.
"I'll prove it to you."
This was the last sentence he said to me because the next second, he kissed me.
The man's scent instantly filled all my senses, and when his tongue invaded me, I couldn't control myself and responded to him eagerly.
Lunette, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke, "Mate."

Chapter 3

Ruth's Point Of View
Now I understood why Lunette had been so agitated; this man was my destined mate, and I couldn’t resist him.
My hands wrapped around his neck, and my body pressed tightly against his.
He pulled back slightly, looking into my eyes as if trying to read something in them. My chest rose and fell rapidly as I gasped for breath. I knew exactly what I wanted.
My hands roamed up his abdomen, the thin shirt doing little to block the warmth of his body, and his defined abs only fueled my desire.
I grabbed his collar and pulled him closer. He didn't resist. Instead, he pushed me back against the railing, his body practically enclosing mine.
Passionate kisses rained down on me, my mind completely leaving my body, leaving only instinct and desire driving me towards him.
His hands moved across my body. Every touch was like an electric shock, making me feel dizzy with excitement. I forgot everything about the man I had just met for the first time, and didn't even know his name.
His lower body pressed against mine, and I could feel his arousal. Even though I was still a virgin, I knew exactly what that bulge against my lower body was.
As his hand slipped under my skirt, I finally realized what was about to happen next. With the last bit of rationality, I grabbed his hand.
The man breathed heavily, frowning slightly at me, and I could feel him trying to restrain his desire.
"I don't want to do this here," I said shyly.
Even though my body longed for him, this was my first time, and it was nothing like I had imagined.
The man took a deep breath, looking at me with a puzzled expression. I felt my face burning, but I didn’t care anymore. I took his hand, looked up at him, and said, "Follow me."
I led him quietly down the stairs, slipping out of the party through a side door.
Everyone was still busy enjoying the ball, and we made our way to an empty guest room without any trouble. I pulled him inside and shut the door behind us.
I turned around, but before I could say anything, he pushed me against the door. The silence and tension that had been building exploded all at once. He kissed me fiercely, roughly tugging at my clothes.
I trembled, unsure if it was from excitement or fear.
He grabbed my neck, forcing me to tilt my head up to accept his kisses. His heavy breathing made me weak, and I could only hang onto him helplessly.
He chuckled softly, held my waist, and slowly guided us toward the bed. His movements practiced, and when he sat up to remove his own shirt, I suddenly realized I was nearly naked.
"Baby, your reaction is as innocent as a virgin," he whispered, his hot body pressing close again, his lips brushing against my ear.
I bit my lip, unsure how to respond. I knew what was going to happen next, but I was starting to feel scared.
My silence made the man pause. He sat up, looking at me in disbelief, and asked, "Damn, you're not really a virgin, are you?"
I turned my head, not knowing what to answer him. But he was supposed to be my destined mate. Didn't he feel the bond between us?
Just as I was about to ask, he leaned down, gently kissing my forehead. "Don't be afraid, I'll be gentle."
I looked at him, and his kisses didn’t stop. That dangerous scent surrounded me once again, causing me to close my eyes.
...
When I woke up again, sunlight was already streaming into the room through the window.
I was stunned to find myself lying naked in bed, and the events of last night were crystal clear in my mind.
At that moment, the man beside me opened his eyes, his deep brown eyes meeting mine.
I sat up abruptly, the memories of what had happened crashing down on me.
I had met my fated mate last night, and the intense connection between us had led to us sleeping together, without even knowing who he was!
Ruth, you must be out of your mind!
My lips trembled, but no words came out.
The man sat up and leaned closer to me, our bodies almost touching.
His closeness reminded me of the passionate kisses from the night before, and my heart raced.
He gently lifted my chin and looked into my eyes. "Who are you?"
Why was he not reacting at all? Couldn’t he sense that I was his destined mate?
I swallowed hard and opened my mouth. "I am..."
He looked at me and said, "Whoever you are, we had a good time yesterday."
Then he pushed me back onto the bed. I clutched the thin blanket to cover my body as he gripped it tightly.
He got out of bed and bent down to pick up his scattered clothes.
An ID card fell out. It was his ID card. The moment I saw his identity, my blood froze.
The man in front of me, my destined mate, turned out to be the Alpha of the SilverMoon pack, Kaelus Moen!
I finally understood why I didn't see him at the Alpha meeting yesterday. The SilverMoon pack and Frostscarred pack had always been enemies. Although Silas had invited him out of courtesy, no one had expected him to actually show up at the Blue Moon Ball.
What scared me even more was that Kaelus was an extremely cruel man. It was said that he personally killed his first mate. I couldn't believe that the Moon Goddess would arrange such a terrible man to be my mate, and that I had been intimate with him last night.
Silas would kill me if he found out!
