Chapter 1 — The Before (edited preview)
The before was ruthless…
Women…children, killed without a second thought. Mercy was for those who were weak, and soft. Strength was all that was needed, and it would have gone on for eternity if it were not for HER.
The star fall of that particular year had been especially brilliant and from it fell a single piece of the moon. That night the Eternal Moon’s Goddess, Crescent was born. Her hair was paler than snow itself and glowed slightly underneath the moonlight. Her eyes looked as if they were carved from the brightest of sapphires, and her beauty was forever eternal.
Crescent
She groaned quietly from the pain that wafted through her body, as she shakily took in a deep painful breath of air, and tried to calm herself while trying to figure out where she was.
Crescent slowly lifted herself on her wobbling human legs… human legs?... she slowly looked at herself as she let out a light scream of fright and landed back onto the ground… she was human. That should not be possible. Crescent was a divine wolf who did not have a human avatar like the other divine creatures. Why was she suddenly in the mortal realm? And why did she suddenly get a human avatar?
Everything was way too confusing for her. Crescent slightly hoped that this was another stupid prank that Eldon was pulling on her. She hated the stupid vampire, but he at least brought some new entertainment to her, but that didn’t matter currently. She needed to find out where she was and a temporary shelter.
Crescent hoisted herself up again and surveyed her surroundings. The spot she had landed in was now a crater, and there were dim small fires spread throughout it. Crescent crawled out of the crater carefully and once she was out there was only vibrant green grass surrounding her, and a sparkling night sky that drew her in.
Crescent didn’t know where to start heading first so she decided to start heading straight and hoping she would run into some sort of settlement eventually.
she yelled out in frustration, as she had been walking for so many hours and still had not run into a SINGLE human… she was about to go crazy in frustration. Why do humans live so far apart from each other? Certainly, they would be safer in large groups. She guessed that she would never know since she wouldn’t be here or whatever here was for exceptionally long and she could go back to the divine realm… where she belonged like the other four divine creatures.
Maybe if she walked a bit more then she would run into a human town or even a human farm. Just one human would be more than enough so that she would at least have someone or something to talk to even if they were lesser than her.
Finally, after walking for forever, she came across a city full of humans. The large stone gates that surrounded the city astonished her, and the amount of humans waiting to get in intimidated her. The worst thing was the humans in line were wearing clothes which she did not have at the moment. Crescent guessed it was normal for humans to wear them and that meant she was indecent in the eyes of the humans.
Maybe she could shift into her wolf form, and enter that way? No that would never work as humans were inherently scared of wolves, and she only knew this because Iseldis the divine-human had told her all about humans, since he and one other of the five divine entities who wanted his species to spread or even be a thing that existed. Crescent hadn’t cared much and only claimed wolves as her possession which was probably why she never had a human avatar. As far as she was aware the others had minor things they had claimed.
Crescent focused her will into the thought of a wolf and when she opened her eyes again, she was back to her normal self, which overjoyed her to every extent. She didn’t know what to do now as a huge 6’5 wolf would scare most humans. She sat down and thought to herself before she heard a branch crack behind her, and she turned her head and saw a tall muscular man with ash brown hair and a large steel sword at his side.
This human was certainly bold to approach her especially from behind. She got up and faced him, wanting to take in whatever she could from his appearance alone.
“you’re going to make a nice coat for my lady beast” the human growled to her while drawing his sword.
She stepped back slightly as she didn’t want to fight the human male, but clearly, he was dead set on making her into a “coat.” As he approached her and slashed at her he managed to get a good slice on her arm and Crescent yelped in pain. She wasn’t interested in dying quite yet… could she even die? Crescent didn’t want to evaluate that theory quite yet.
Crescent didn’t know how to tell this human she was able to think like him. Maybe she could mind link him like she did with the rest of the divine entities whenever she wanted to talk with them. It was certainly worth the try.
“W-wait, please don’t kill me,” she said quickly once she established the link.
The man froze and looked around for any signs of another human and he looked confused, but he quickly went back to his task at hand which was killing her.
“Please I beg of you, I mean no harm,” she said through the link again pleading to him, and yet again the human male looked confused until he had a slight ah hah moment.
“Can you understand me beast?” he said sternly to Crescent out loud.
she bobbed her head yes, “Please don’t kill me” she said quite frightened through the link.

Crescent
The human man lowered his sword and studied her, “did our god magically bless you with speech beast?” he questioned her.
She internally frowned, “that idiot Iseldis did not bless me with speech” she hissed through the link a bit annoyed. “, and he’s most certainly not a god, he’s a divine entity like me” she huffed to him.
They both stood there until the human male relaxed and sheathed his sword, “I would like to apologize then madam divine wolf. Iseldis sent us a message detailing that you would come across our city and search for you.”
Iseldis that bastard must have been the one behind this, “Did he say why I would be coming?” she asked.
The human male shook his head no, “he only said that the divine wolf would need help acclimating to the human ways.”
She had a feeling that this was simply the beginning of a long road of difficulty.
Crescent & Iscariot
It had been 213 years since she found herself in the mortal realm, but Crescent had found herself over the years loving it more than the divine realm. There weren’t harsh rules she had to follow, and it was much easier to move around in a human form than a wolves.
Along the way, she had made twelve friends and had gone on many adventures to spread her blessing to the humans and unite the majority of them together. Crescent had even ended a war between the humans and then turned vampires Eldon had blessed. Niam had even descended into the mortal realm to teach specifically the human females magic. She had assumed it was only human females because Niam was a male who was a sucker for pretty females. Dormer and Iseldis had refused to descend to the mortal realm but that was fine with her.
What had made her excited recently was her friend, Iscariot, had decided to join her in her continued travels to help those in need. She had always assumed that he thought it was a waste of time but apparently, it wasn’t to him.
“Iscariot can you help me with these?” she yelled happily to him while grabbing the hoard of medical supplies she had ordered a few months ago from a traveling merchant.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Iscariot grumpily get up and head over to her and start picking up boxes with her, “Why did you order so much? The town doesn’t need this much Cress” he said while rolling his eyes sounding very annoyed with Crescent.
Crescent only smiled, “It’s so they have extra for later you grump” she chuckled with a bright smile, “And despite your attitude, I know you liked that I ordered more” she sighed softly. She only saw him shake his head in denial, and that only made her laugh as they took the supplies and spread them among the town, they had been staying in.
She loved all the towns folk because they were all so nice and would leave little secret treats wherever she was and most times Crescent would give them to the children, but on extremely rare days that she felt sad she would eat the treats, but those days were far and few in-between. She had only felt sad four times so far in the mortal realm. The first time happened when she was depressed about being in the mortal realm after a year, and the second and third were caused by the crippling disappointment of not being able to find her fated mate, and the fourth time was when disease struck the village and many of the children had been made orphans, but that was all behind her now and every day was a good day.
Iscariot found himself hating and loathing Crescent more today for some reason. He still didn’t understand why someone like her was loved by all when she was just a stupid female who didn’t know her place and on top of that the people had declared her a Goddess when she was just a sniveling bitch who deserved nothing. Even if she was the one who gave them their Lycan status and his wolf Judas who hated Crescent just as much.
He wanted to enact his plan soon so HE could take all the glory for himself and rid the world of the Eternal Moons Goddess. The patience he had to force himself to have with all of Crescent's stupid shenanigans was astronomical.
He looked over to the innocent Crescent helping out a little boy with a skinned knee and only sneered to himself in disgust and contempt. No amount of words could describe how much he hated that woman. Maybe tonight would be the right time to enact his plan. Crescent to trusting for her own good and he knew that. Iscariot had seen her be used by people for her charity and even in times when she was betrayed not once did, she show sadness. It was startling how little anger or sadness Crescent showed, but it only made things more entertaining.
Iscariot smirked and decided that tonight was indeed the night to show that little whore who really should be in charge.
Later in the day he brewed a strong tea which he knew Crescent hated but wouldn’t turn down because she’s too nice to do that to her “Precious friend,” but the strength of the tea also hid the Opium, Valerian combination in the tea. Humans blessed with wolves had a high metabolism, so the dose had to be extra strong to affect them.
“Cress, I made some tea for us” he smiled trying to hide the sheer look of disgust he held for Crescent. He watched as she took the tea from his hand and drank it quickly and could see that her face was slightly contorted from the bitter taste of the tea. It would only take a few minutes for the poison to take effect on her body. Oh, the things he would do once he had her chained up and unable to fight back. Iscariot would break her until there was nothing left to break.
Iscariot watched intensely as she thanked him for tea and started chatting with him over mediocre topics he could care less about until he noticed that she started talking a bit sluggishly.
“I think all the work today is getting to me” she lightly slurred while yawning, “I think I’m going to take a na- “she slurred again until she flopped forward on the ground with a thud. Iscariot picked her up and started making his way to the place he had specifically prepared for this day.
Chapter 3 — The Before (edited preview)
Crescent
She was cold, and the floor was wet. Where was she? It wasn’t her room in the old lady's house in which she was staying. It felt more like a dungeon. Crescent finally opened her eyes and looked around the space in which she was trapped.
It was indeed a dungeon or dungeon-like. It looked more like a torture chamber for those who have done capital punishment. Who had she angered to get kidnapped and potentially tortured by? There wasn’t anyone she could think of since even the most horrible of people she was able to find common interest in and make peace with them. There was, however, a name she could eliminate with Iscariot’s since he was her friend, and he wouldn’t hurt her. Crescent was confident that she could get out of this situation just like the other times.
She heard a door open and waited for the person to enter only to see Iscariot come through it. he was most likely here to save her from her kidnapper.
“Iscariot you’re here to save me,” she said happily with a desperate smile, but he didn’t respond and only glared at her. This was coldness she didn’t know that he had. “Iscariot?” she said a bit scared this time. Something was off and she didn’t like it.
“I’m not here to save you Crescent” he snarled at her with ferocious anger she had never seen with Iscariot before.
“Iscariot please don’t joke with me… if I did something wrong, we could fix it” she pleaded a bit softly. Who was this man? It certainly wasn’t the kind but grumpy Iscariot she knew.
She watched carefully as he approached her and suddenly ripped the front part of her dress in half, “Iscariot what are you doing?!” she said truly scared now.
He ignored her plea and refused to let her go. She tried to pull away.
“I’ve been waiting to do this for an exceedingly long time… you don’t deserve the love that you are given by the people around you. Instead, you should be used and beaten for stepping out of line like the little shit you are” he had snarled to her, roughly bruising her delicate assets, and she cried out in pain as he twisted them, and that only seemed to fuel him even more.
The hours, days, or weeks seemed to slowly pass by as each day Crescent would painfully wait for the day of torture Iscariot would inflict on her for something she had never done. She had lost count of the number of times Iscariot had raped and violated her body until she bled. Crescent’s once soft smooth skin was now littered with scars on her back ranging from small ones to large ones that covered half of it.
She was useless… what was the use of living anymore… it most certainly wasn’t to be with the family who had betrayed her. Was her family even her family in the first place? or had they been using her like Iscariot had? She most likely wouldn’t even live to know since she felt her life slipping away slowly each day, and Crescent was about to hit her breaking point.
The number of times she had felt sad or cried had increased so much that there was no point in keeping track of all the dreadful things Iscariot had done to make her cry. Her back and everything hurt. The pain was all she ever felt anymore.
Crescent thought back to that vision she had of her fated mate so many years ago. It was the only thing that kept her somewhat going. It was honestly the only thing she ever thought of besides the torture that she went through almost every single day. The first and only time she had received it she was filled with happiness she didn’t even know she had, and the sight she had seen made her hope for more.
Birds chirped softly as a future Crescent sat in a warmly lit room on a sage green plush couch wearing a flowing knee-length blue dress with pink carnation flowers dappled all over and sleeves that hung off of her shoulders, and her stomach was swollen with a child, and she looked happy.
“Asc---- I missed you Lura rueo.” She spoke with softness for the towering male with curly ginger hair and gentle green eyes who had entered the room with some unfamiliar snacks in his hands.
The man only smiled with great love for Crescent and sat next to her while setting down the items in his hands on a coffee table in front of them. He then buried his head into her shoulder and pulled Crescent into his embrace while whispering sweet nothings into her ear.
She laughed lightly with a bright smile on her face, “They’ll be here any day now Lura rueo, and when they do, I expect all your attention.”, she said softly with a hint of seriousness towards the handsome man, but the man only response was taking in a deep breath, and placing his hand over Crescents stomach, and rubbing it softly.
“You’ll have so much attention from me you’ll be for me to leave” he had said smugly to her, with s cheeky smile on his face.
Crescent simply rolled her eyes and sighed sassily at the man.
The cell door creaked open, and she knew instantly who it was and simply prepared herself for the onslaught of torture to come yet again.
“It’s your lucky day Crescent. I just so happened to be bored with you, and I’ll be letting you free.” Iscariot said to her with a sneer in his voice while she watched him approach her broken body, “I’m soooo sad that this had to be this way, but you just were asking for it” he taunted with a cackle while unlocking the shackles that held her down, but it wasn’t for long when he stabbed something into her neck, and everything went black.
