Chapter 1 — New Job

To everyone hopeless about their love life. There is always hope and light, just… fight. Hope this book provides you with the strength and the inspiration to go out there—and fight for yourself.
PREFACE
Writing a book has been a great experience for me. A book is a different world—so they say, “Between the pages of a book is a beautiful place to be”.
My inspiration for this book was everyone around me—every single soul that supported me, and everyone who didn’t—for they gave me a reason to keep going and show them that everything is possible.
This book is a work of fiction, but it shows reality. If someone is not having any hopes for their life—I hope this book does the work.
This book narrates the story of a billionaire, who let down his guard, just for the only one person he ever loved—and she deserved it.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me—by inspiring me or by publishing my work. Thank you, readers.

PROLOGUE
"Why... Why me??" I cried as he dragged me to the room and threw me on the bed, but my head collided with the sharp side of it.
"Because it's your fate!" he yelled.
"
But... Who are you to decide my fate!?!" I finally decided to talk back to him.
"So, you've got the guts to talk back?" He chuckled and a smirk formed on his lips. "Then let's get this straight today, love
," he said.
"W-what? N-no!" I said but his expressions changed to rage as he narrowed his eyebrows.
He came near me and took my face in his hands.
"L-leave
me... P-please" I said.
"I want to crumble you like this, and I will, you just wait and watch, Hailey
," he said and left the room.
Hailey’s POV
“OKAY MOM” I yelled in the loudest tone I can because it’s been 20 minutes, she is making my ears die of noise pollution. I mean, who the hell shouts like bloody murder just to get up from the bed and that too at…
I looked at the clock.
KILL. ME.
“MOM!! Why the hell did you not tell me it’s 8 AM?? I’m gonna get late for the job!! I mean seriously mom!!” I yelled and she came inside.
Yes, she was shouting from the ground floor till now!
“That’s what I’ve been shouting, dear, don’t waste any minute more, you know how big this offer is!!” she yelled
as she made her way towards my room.
“Yes mom, I know!” I said and got up. I went to the bathroom, did my daily chor
es, that includes nothing more than brush and bath, after that I was standing in front of my closet, fighting with my own mind for what to wear that could be professional enough and still look casual.
Here I am.
This building is... awesome. More than awesome. I can’t yet get enough courage to enter it and meet the crush of my life.
Yes, the CEO of this company is
a dream boy. Of me. Of endless girls out there. And I’m gonna finally meet him today. You know, how difficult it is to come face-to-face with our crush.
With great courage, I entered the building, pass
ed the double doors, and I was taken aback by the sight laid ahead of me.
Fantastic.
I looked here and there and finally found a receptionist.
“Hello, Miss, I’m here, I came to give my interview for the job of personal assistant of the CEO” I kept a slight smile while facing the young woman.
“Yeah, you’re Hailey Cameron, right?” she asked
, flipping her hand through the files, while her one hand was kept on the mouse of the desktop.
“Yes, I am” I replied and she smiled.
“Please take the lift to the 20th floor and then enter the CEO’s office that you will find to your left, 5th room, it’s bigger than the others
,” she said.
“Thank you mam
,” I said, and as I was leaving, she stopped me.
“And mam, that door provides
a one-sided view from the sir’s side. So, please don’t try to peak inside before going” she whispered.
Well, that’s embarrassing.
“Y-Yea, thank you
…?”
“Maria
,” she said.
“Oh, thank you
, Maria,” I said and sharing a smile, I left for the lift and taking a quick breath, pressed the ‘20’ button.
I reached the floor. I can clearly see the ‘CEO’s Office’ written over
the door of a room. Taking a deep breath, I knocked over the door. A dark, deep, masculine voice came, “Come in”.
I entered the room, and found the man of my dreams, working on a laptop. He didn’t give any attention to the ‘intruder’, so I started speaking.
“E-excuse me, sir?” I spoke
, while I could feel my nervousness getting better of me. He still didn’t look up, but said, “hmm”
“Sir, I’m here for the interview
,” I said and he looked towards me. His gaze went from my eyes to my body, looking me from top to bottom and then again to my eyes.
“Welcome, Ms. Hailey,” he said.
Wow. He knows my name.
“T-thank you sir
,” I said. He gestured me to sit down across him and I sat down hesitantly.
“Introduce yourself
,” he said with a firm voice and looked straight in my eyes. I couldn’t make eye contact, so I looked down.
“I-” I couldn’t speak but he interrupted.
“If you can’t look into my eyes, then better leave!” he said with an inflated tone and I looked at him straight away.
“S-sorry sir
,” I said, suddenly worried. He smirked.
“Continue” he
instructed.
“I graduated from th
e University of California San Francisco, and I-”
“That’s not a business academy
,” he said and looked at his laptop. “Why to do a business job, then?” he asked.
“Well… that’s… I…”
“Confidence!
The first law of any business” he said and smirked again. “No confidence, No business, No job. GET OUT, NOW!” he yelled.
“But sir, I’m capable of doing this job!” I said as I got a hint that he was, I guess, was just taking a test of my confidence for this job.
He smirked. “Impressive
,” he said. “Any past experiences? What did you do before coming here?” he asked.

Actually, no. But I am sure I will do this job well!” I said.
“Quite
okay,” he said in that formal voice of his. “But not enough to become MY personal assistant,” he said.
“Sir, please, I’ll do my best if you give me a chance. I really need money because my
mother is not well” I blurted out.
“Oh, then I’ll consider you – but after this test
,” he said, and gave me his laptop. “Find the latest file and summarize the file in 5 minutes,” he said and smirked, while I kind of already decided that was impossible. Summarising takes time, dude.
Still
, I tried, and with my knowledge of the computer, the file was founded in 2 minutes. It was encrypted, for god’s sake! I guessed the correct word related to business with the clue he gave. After that, I saw the length.
OH GOD. IT HAS BLOODY 12 PAGES!!
“Sir, this is-”
“I’m going out
,” he said and went out of the cabin.
WOW. GREAT.
I still tried and could only summarize 2 pages when he entered the office again.
“Time’s up
,” he said with a dominating voice.
“Sir,
actually... I could only do... err... 2 pages” I said with embarrassment.
“Let me see
,” he said and took the pages, and then smiled.
NO. NOT A SIMPLE SMILE. SMIRK.
“Do you think you got the job?” he said.

I... uh... you’ll decide that sir, so...”
“I asked your opinion, Miss Hailey!!” he said with a little frustration.
“Oh,
oh-ok sir, Sir… I think I’m capable of doing the job, but if it requires me summarizing all these pages in 3 minutes, then sir, I really need to think about the result”
“Well done, Ms. Hailey,
you got the job”

Chapter 2 — Caffeinated Mess

Hailey’s POV
“What! R-really sir?” I asked the man sitting in front of me, who had just told me that I got the job.
“Yes, Ms. Cameron, why are you so shocked?” he
asked with a smirk plastered on his face.

I... uh... actually, I was just wondering why did I get the job when the last almost 15 people didn’t,” I said with curiosity.
He chuckled.
“You wanna know?” he asked and I nodded. “Fine
,” he said, and I was all ears to him.
“Most people got eliminated on the first round, they peeped like a freaking assh
ole from the gate,” he said.
“Oh”
“Next, they had no confidence when I yelled at them, as you know, I did at you
,” he said and this time, really smiled.
“And, they couldn’t even find the file in the 5 minutes, and even if they did, they just kept on nagging on how long it was and how impossible-
- when I clearly want my people to know that nothing is impossible,” he said and then I remembered how I also thought it was impossible. IT REALLY WAS.

Oh...” I said.
“Fine, Ms. Hailey, come to work from tomorrow
,” he said and I got up, ready to leave. “And yes, I’m not at all friendly, so don’t be one with me!” he said, rather ordered, and I was taken aback at the sudden change in his tone.
STRANGE.
I left the office without giving any single glance back to him, and I didn’t stop until I’ve left the building completely, and it was more of
a relief after I’ve reached home. I couldn’t even breathe properly when I was in that building.
I was getting ready for my first day at work, I was still afraid at how he reacted or rather spoke in a dominating voice, it was much scary, all the events from yesterday came into my mind.
I made up my mind and went to work. I reached the building, took a deep
breath and entered, and went straight to his office to ask for my work. I knocked and he said, ‘come in’.
“G-
Good morning, sir,” I said as I entered.
He passed a small smirk, and then turned himself into that regular expressionless face of his, and then gestured me to sit across him.
“So, here are some rules you must be following, no matter what situation arises, these rules are mandatory to follow
,” he said. Somewhere I felt that those rules will be much of a pain in the ass.
Nothing special dude. Rules are always a pain, aren’t they?
“Understood, sir
,” I said and he started.

Rule #1No matter who orders you, if you have any order from me, that should be your priority.
Rule #2I want your whole concentration on the work, rather than what today’s girls have on.
Rule #3I bear not a single mistake in my work, either it is paperwork or it is a presentation of you, that is, in meetings.
Rule #4I don’t want any complaint of you, or I will not take any second thought before firing you and last…
Rule #5Never ever go against my words.”
“Oh, Ok sir
,” I said, still confused or rather shocked by his rules.
Am I a prisoner or what?
“What do you mean by ok? Say understood, sir”
“U-understood, sir
,” I said, wondering what’s the freaking difference between the two.
“Fine. Now, uh... bring those files” he said pointing towards a desk. I went there and picked up the files, headed back, and gave him.

See... these 4 files, summarise them all, on a new paper, don’t miss a single point,” he said, his eyes again on the computer.
“Understood, sir” I repeated his words, for I don’t know if he knows that ‘okay’ also means the same.
“And yes. Your duties. Listen. Firstly, you have to complete whatever work I tell you, next, you have to serve me
a coffee at 12 & 3, without sugar, and yes it should be black, next tell me about my meetings 10 minutes prior, don’t let anyone enter my cabin without an appointment, except you and John” he said all looking at his laptop, as if he had learned all the lines.
“Oh, Ok- I mean understood sir.. well,
uh... I have a doubt sir” I spoke. He looked at me.

Uh... Sir... Who’s John?” I asked.
“Well, he looks like me, he’s my brother, if he comes, he will himself tell that he’s John
,” he said. That was a relief, I don’t need to recognize him.
“Okay sir
,” I said, and was shocked he didn’t tell me to say ‘understood’.
“Now don’t stand here, and freaking go out! Your desk is there!” he yelled and pointed towards a room
in front of his, and now I know that I would be under his surveillance because he could clearly see the entire room with his one-sided see-through glass door.
Without another word I left the room, for I think he is suffering from mood swings, and I don’t wanna be one of his victims. I went there, adjusted my stuff
, and settled down. I watched the time.
9:30.
I better not forget about his coffee. What did he say? Oh
, yea, black with sugar.
I wrote all this in my diary and s
et an alarm on my phone, I really wasn’t in a mood to face his rage on me.
It’s 11:55. My phone’s alarm buzzed, and so I walked out of my office and walked towards the end of the corridor, where I could see
the coffee room written. I went inside and made the coffee the way he told. I have already a type of learned what he said. Black with sugar. Black with sugar.
I carried the coffee all the way to his office.
I knocked on the door. “Come in
,” a deep voice said, which I immediately recognized as his. I entered the office; he was still working on his laptop. I wonder if his eyes don’t stain from all the work.
“Sir, your coffee
,” I said and he nodded his head. I went and kept it on the table. He took a look at the coffee. “Good,” he said. Maybe, because I remembered the way he told me to make it. I left the office then.
12:06
The office phone began to ring. Yes, the phone of my very own office. I picked it up and I was startled by the voice that came.
“Ms. Hailey in my office right now with your resignation papers!” he yelled.

Chapter 3 — Contract Of My Life

Hailey’s POV
“Ms. Hailey in my office right now with your resignation papers!!” he yelled through the phone kept in my very own office. I was startled.
“W-what, sir?” I asked bluntly.
“Oh yeah, you don’t know, right? I’m telling y
ou. Turn on your laptop” he commanded. I followed his instructions to avoid getting him angry.
“O-opened
,” I said, pressing the enter key on the keyboard.
“Search ‘resignation papers’” he said and I searched. To my dismay, there was a Word file.
“Fill your information and sign the hardcopy, the printer is there, and bring them to me
,” he said in a calm voice, although it was enough to start a storm inside me.
“S-sir, but w-why?” I asked.
“Oh, sure, you don’t know?” he asked.
Well, I hadn’t done anything! Other than giving him coff- oh my god! Don’t tell me it was without sugar!! MY GOD! How the hell can I be so clumsy!!
“S-sir, I-”
“With sugar, right, Ms. Hailey?”
he mocked at me.
“S-
sir...”
“I told you I won’t bear a single mistake
,” he said. “So, in my office, NOW,” he said and cut the call. I didn’t take any resignation papers, no, I can’t lose this job, at least not over a coffee!
I went to his office and knocked.
“Come in
,” he said and I entered. He looked at me, I lowered my head and spoke.
“I’m sorry, sir, I won’t repeat it,” I said. He smirked.
“But I have many, many other assistants, who won’t make any mistakes, why should I keep you?” he said casually.
“S-sir, because, I promise I won’t make any mistakes”
“Nope. That’s not it, this time. Well…” he started thinking deep with his hand on his forehead. “Oh yeah, bring that contract
,” he said and pointed towards some papers kept on the other table. I ran and brought them to him.
“Sign these, if you dare to continue this job
,” he said. I read the topic.
“Contract – 146
I, …………, vows to be Robert Anderson’s wife for my life, to respect him and to be solely his, in return to the sum of total $450000000”
W-what? A-am I selling myself!?
“S-sir
,” I said and he smirked.
“Your mom is not well, dear
,” he said.
No... she is well! I remember she was all nice till yesterday, she was screaming at the top of her lungs to wake me too. Although, yesterday she went to some relatives. She hasn’t returned, but she should be fine.

She... she was fine yesterday,” I said.
“Yesterday” he emphasized the word.
No, I’m having bad thoughts.
“Anything can happen anytime, Ms. Hailey
,” he said and I knew what he was talking about.

Oh... Oh god... where is she… where is my mom!!” I yelled a little out of distress.
“She’s safe, she’s in a hospital, but I won’t want to pay the bills any longer
,” he said.
“W-what? What happened to her? She was fine till yesterday, so??”
“Heart attack, to be brief”
“She… she was not even a heart patient
,” I said, my head totally out of my control.
“You really think so? Well I guess I know her better than you, then”
“What are you talking about, sir…” I said.
“Enough conversation. I give you one day, think about this contract, read it through, I thought you only read the signing
sector, didn’t you? Here are the terms and conditions, and duties, I hope you wanna read them”
“S-
sir... b-but”
“Yes you are selling yourself” he answered my unasked question.
“B-but”
“For your mom” he completed his sentence.
“S-sir, t-this is”
“And yes, don’t postpone it any longer, the bills are not what YOU can afford”
“S-sir, b-but why w-wife?”
“That’s simple. You read my contract with Mr. Spencer?”
“Oh god.
He... they said...”
“I should be married. So, here I am”
“B-but why me, s-sir?”
“I don’t want sluts that’s why. You are the only one who wears decent clothes and is a respectable woman, aren’t you?” he said with a smirk.
“S-sir, but...”
“Now, GET LOST
,” he said. I was taken aback, by his words, and everything.
“S-sir, w-where is my mom?” I asked.
“You won’t meet her until you tell me your decision
,” he said. “And mind this, you will not be able to save her if you don’t do this, who’s gonna offer millions?”
“S-sir, but”
“Can you speak anything other than your ‘s-sir, but’?” He mimicked me and started chuckling.
At that time, I was hating the man sitting in front of me. He was my crush for a long time, but now I feel like he was the worst man. I want to save my mom at all costs! But I can’t even see her! I can’t even know what happened to her, why she had a heart attack, and he’s asking me to sell myself to him? I never thought of him like this, I never ever thought he would be this cheap, to buy me like I was some item.
“Yes, you are
,” he said.
Wait. Am I thinking aloud, or is he reading my mind?
“Now, LEAVE!!” he yelled and without thinking, I left the office and made a run to the out of the building. I was thinking about it, everything, my mind was not clear.
How can he...!!
