The Son Of Horus
Vincent James Cox has gone completely nuts due to his firing job from Horus Tech Corporation. His intention was to kill his boss at his home. Too bad Vincent got framed. When he arrived, his boss had been shot dead. Vincent was trapped in the house while the...
Chapter 1 The Murdering Plot
Vincent's breath hitched as cold sweat dripped down his hazel-brown hairline. He repeatedly adjusted the position of his glasses on the bridge of his nose, and slipped on his oily skin due to stress. His hands gripped the steering wheel of the BMW E30 Coupe as it arrived on the side of the road at a housing complex in Queens.
“I must be crazy!” he cursed. Vincent still had time to leave as soon as possible, and he thought better of it. The problem is that he is confused. His cell phone rang again, and this time he hurriedly answered. His saliva had caught in his throat. What should he do if he fails?
“Vince, have you arrived?” a man's voice was heard, asking his position.
"Yes, I'm in front of his house," answered Vincent in a trembling voice. He was nervous and scared.
"Did you check your surroundings?"
Vincent's eyes swept from right to left, then back to check if there were any people or witnesses.
"There's no one," Vincent answered, explaining the situation.
"Good, then you can go!" explained the man again. Vincent turned towards the two-story house, about a few meters from his parking position.
“I-I…”
"Are you afraid now?" Vincent was silent when asked such a question.
“He humiliated you and then fired you! All this time, what Donovan has done is humiliate and fire you. He doesn't even appreciate your efforts to create a firewall for the Horus database! What more did you expect?” said the man again.
Vincent tried to catch his breath. He was frustrated and couldn't take it anymore. His last savings were spent on buying a Glock 23-type short-barreled gun with automatic bullets. This time, he should not back down.
“Do you remember what Chad Donovan did to you last week? He humiliated you in front of Heather!”
Vincent closed his eyes with a tight jaw and squeezed the steering wheel again, which he was still holding in one hand. When he remembered that painful thing, Vincent felt like he wanted to shoot his boss, Chad Donovan, in the head right then. Feelings of hatred and anger gathered in Vincent's mind, especially when the man who called him made oblique accusations.
“Just so you know, Vince. Heather had indeed slept with Chad, and they did this disgusting thing in his office. I had a peek. You trust me, right?”
"Yes, I believe it," answered Vincent briefly, his confidence reappearing.
"Good. Now do your job! Kill Chad Donovan!” said the man who was talking to Vincent again. Vincent complied and nodded. Now he is sure that he will finish off the CEO where he works. Chad has destroyed Vincent's programming and technology career while working at Horus Tech.
“I'm going in now!” Vincent said it again convincingly.
"Okay, good luck, friends!" the telephone connection was cut off. Vincent then thought for a moment. Vincent didn't want to go to jail because the police would have caught him, and it would be very obvious if he walked through the front door.
"I'd better go in the back way." Vincent turned his car past the house and looked for a way to the back of the house. When he arrived, Vincent parked his car in a fairly hidden place and then got out.
He crept into the house after turning off the alarm at the back door. Vincent has expertise in the IT field, so it is not difficult for him to disable the house alarm system.
Vincent slowly made his way through the kitchen and into the dim living room, which had only skewed outside light. He hid the weapon in the bomber jacket he was wearing. His hands were cold from adrenaline, but Vincent didn't care. From the middle room. Vincent crept up again to go up to the second floor, where Chad and his wife were.
With slow steps and a fast heartbeat, Vincent finally managed to climb the second floor. He looked left and right, then adjusted his glasses again. Vincent swallowed again and was about to settle forward again.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Vincent immediately hid behind the wall. He didn't dare peek at what was happening. For a long time, as if he didn't hear anything, Vincent finally peeked and frowned. What happened? Why is the window at the end of the corridor open?
Vincent took out his weapon and then came out of his hiding place into the room whose door had been open. Curiosity made Vincent finally check and go inside.
The room was dark, but there was a strange smell. Vincent innocently pressed the light switch. The inside sight astounded him right away.
Chad Donovan, who was only wearing shorts, was shot dead in the head. He was lying on his back on his bed, while his wife, Miriam, was lying on her stomach on the bedroom carpet in the same condition. Vincent approached slowly and was confused.
“What the?" he muttered in confusion. Chad and his wife were dead before Vincent came in for the kill. In the confusion, Miriam was heard groaning on the floor. Vincent immediately squatted down to turn Miriam's body over. The woman is still alive.
“H-Horus…” Miriam spoke quietly with her eyes open.
"What? "What did you say?” Vincent tried to get closer again to hear more clearly. Unfortunately, he didn't hear any further explanation but the sound of police car sirens. Vincent quickly released his grip on Miriam's lifeless body. He ran to the door and heard the front door being kicked open by police.
“WHOEVER IS INSIDE, DON'T MOVE! Give yourself up; you are arrested!” shouted one of the policemen from downstairs. Vincent panicked and ran outside. He entered one of the rooms and locked it from the inside.
Suddenly, a baby was heard crying and was sitting in his bed basket. Vincent just realized that he had entered the room of the baby, Chad, and Miriam Donovan's child. As he approached and the corner light was still on, Vincent saw a collection of letters glued to the wall indicating the baby's name, Kyron.
“Don't cry! Don't cry! I wasn't the one who killed your parents!” Vincent said frantically, and his gun was still in his hand. The baby stopped crying but continued to stare at Vincent with wet cheeks and a sad face. He cried again and looked like he was hungry, but Vincent had no idea.
Vincent panicked even more and covered the baby's mouth with his hand, but then he let go.
"Oh no! What should I do? I'll get caught if you don't stop crying! Stop!” Vincent's great-grandson asked the baby. Vincent then held the baby, and the baby smiled.
"What should I do?" Vincent put the baby down again, and he cried again. Vincent was forced to carry him again and peek through the window. There was a way for him to climb out, but if he and the baby were out, the police would find out because of his crying.
“You can't stay with me!” the baby seemed to understand and cried again. Vincent was forced to comply. He took the sling so the baby wouldn't fall out of it. Somehow, Vincent, who had never held a baby, was skilled enough to put the sling on his chest. He climbed out of the window with the 9-month-old baby on his chest. After struggling, Vincent, who didn't realize what he was doing, ran to his car, which was parked behind him.
"THERE HE IS! STOP!!"
Chapter 2 Escaping The Law
Vincent jumped and fell with his back hitting the ground because he had a baby strapped to his chest. He had a hard time getting up and running to his car. Vincent drives when he's in trouble. As fast as he could, he ran away from the cops who were now after him.
The baby Kyron he was holding was crying, either because he was scared or hungry. Things went wrong for Vincent because he didn't have time to buckle up the child in the car seat.
“Shut up. I'm driving!” Vincent shouted at the baby. Even now, he feels bad that he brought the child with him. Little Kyron cried even more, but there was nothing he could do.
Vincent took a fast turn in his small red BMW E30 Coupe. Because the car was so light, it seemed to float.
"Ahh..." Vincent squeaked and clenched his teeth to deal with the stress of the situation. He turned around a few times and saw that the police car was farther away each time. Vincent used the chance to go into one of the paths that led from the shop building to the house.
The small size of the car makes it easy to get inside. Vincent came out of the house and hid the baby with him behind a big trash can at the alley's edge.
"Shhh..." Vincent tried to calm the baby. Baby Kyron was still sobbing, finally sucking his thumb. Vincent calmed down a little from his tension. He covered the baby's head with his hands.
Police car sirens arrived and stopped near the alley. There were no street lights, so Vincent could hide well behind the trash can. He gasped, surrounded by air that smelled of rubbish and sewage.
“Search this place!” pointed one of the policemen at his friend. Vincent was shocked. Police flashed their lights on the road next to Vincent.
“I'm dead! I don't want to go to prison," Vincent muttered in fear. He squeezed the baby's back accidentally, and it made Kyron, who had calmed down, cry again.
"Who's that? Where's that?" The cops ran after Vincent again, and he quickly ran to a store at the end of the hall.
"STOP!" the cops yelled, but they could only see his back. Vincent hid his face in a hoodie and hid from the cops. He made his way up a small part of the wall for pedestrians and then turned around to face the shop's front door. Vincent had no choice but to go inside and hide.
When Vincent suddenly pointed a gun at the cashier at the minimarket, he scared and shocked him.
"Do not tell the police!" Vincent was scared and terrified when he heard the threat, "Shut up!" He hid behind the shelves and ran back. Vincent went further into the storage room and opened the door to the back.
The teller pointed to the back and said, "He's there, sir!" When the cops went into the minimarket, they ran to the back right away and saw that the door was open.
"He escaped!"
Vincent kept running and hid in another hallway. He tried his best, but bad luck was against him. In the wrong way, he was stuck. When his car stopped at the end of the lane, a police officer in full uniform got out and chased after Vincent.
Vincent had to turn around and found the three-meter-high fence at the end of the lane. Vincent had no choice but to climb, but this time he had to leave Kyron to do it.
"Please forgive me. We need to go our separate ways!" Vincent said, and he ran quickly to the fence to try to get over it. But the cops moved quickly to block Vincent's way.
"I'll shoot you if you don't stop!" The cops pointed a gun at Vincent from behind and told him to "come down." Vincent didn't stop and tried to get up. The cops shot at the iron fence and hit it. Vincent stopped right away.
"Down!" When the cops spoke up again, Vincent had already taken half a step, but he had to get down. He thought that he would get shot and die in the end. As soon as Vincent got off the bus, the cops grabbed his arm and pushed him against the fence. He then handcuffed him.
The angry police officer growled at Vincent, "You think you can get away from the police, huh?" Vincent put Kyron behind him, and he just quietly peered over to see what was going on. He just watched and didn't know anything. Vincent's hat was taken off, and he was flipped over so the cops could see his face.
The police officer grinned and asked, "Huh, so you're the killer?"
“No, I didn't do it.” Vincent had thrown away his gun, and the police picked it up. After securing the weapon, a frightened Vincent complied and was taken to the patrol car. But the police officer grinned strangely with his eyes glowing red and then pushed Vincent towards the fence again.
So fast that Vincent couldn't handle it. The police bit Vincent's neck, and he immediately screamed loudly.
“AAAHHKK!” Vincent tried to get away, but the police were too strong. He felt like all of his life and energy had been sucked away. When Vincent's skin was cut and blood was pouring out of somewhere, he thought his body was going away.
Vincent was still trying to hide from the cops. He reached for the gun on the police officer's waist and pulled the trigger right away. The gun went off and hit the police officer in the thigh.
Vincent was in a lot of pain and losing a lot of blood. The police officer let go of him and groaned, "AAHK!" There was still blood in his big pulse. Vincent was now drenched and his clothes were wet for a short time. The police officer who was hurt was mad. Vince's clothes were pulled off by him, and he threw himself behind the fence he was about to climb.
"Fuck! "Oh, my foot!" the police officer yelled in pain. Vincent's body, on the other hand, floated, then fell into a big trash can and hit a hard block. Right away, he stopped moving.
The cops didn't see Kyron because Vincent had left him close by. The police officer left the quiet alley right away to tell his friends.
Vincent's body seemed to float into the air because he wasn't breathing. Little Kyron, who could crawl, then got out and made his way to Vincent. Vincent was behind the fence, so he stopped in front of it to wait for him. Vincent was on his stomach, and there was still blood on his clothes and neck.
The deaths of Chad and Miriam Donovan were quickly reported by many people. That night, the cops took the bodies of the two people away. The New York Police Department sent anti-homicide officers to look into this.
“Sir, the child is missing. This is his room; his name is Kyron," said one of the police detectives, Michael Emerson. Michael has extraordinary abilities in investigating murder cases, and this time he got a case that was quite unique.
"There is no doubt that the person who kidnapped is the killer. How far away is the chase?" Michael asked once more. The cops who were after Vincent then sent a report over the radio, which Michael got.
"Sir, he got away. We didn't see any babies or kids, though.
Chapter 3 Upset And Humiliation
It's not good enough. What is this? How could things be this way?" Chadler Donovan lost it and scolded Vincent Cox, a senior member of the IT team. It is Vincent's job to keep the servers that Horus Tech Corporation, a business that provides security systems, in good shape.
"Yes, sir. I checked. There is no break at all; server three should be fine. Vincent tried to show that it was wrong by arguing.
Chad got more angry instead of taking it. He didn't think twice about scolding Vincent while he was sitting at his desk in the middle of the room, with only a partially see-through fiber wall between them.
"You think your job is for kids? Don't work here if you can't be thorough!" Chad yelled again. Vincent could only have a low gaze. There is one mistake. While the process was going on, he went out for lunch for a short time. It turned out there was a hole that Vincent hadn't fixed, which let data slip through and made customers angry.
"I'm going to try..."
"No need. You're just wasting my time!" Chad cut in cruelly. He didn't even care if everyone was watching him scold Vincent.
“Sir, please. "I can fix everything," Vincent asked pitifully in front of Chad Donovan, which would cost him his job.
“I don't care what you want. You won’t be able to recoup Horus’ losses this time because of customer complaints!” Chad pointed at Vincent. Vincent started to gasp, and he looked around.
Vincent let out a gasp and looked around. Vincent said, "I'll fix it," again, hoping to save his job.
"I don't care. Don't expect any company to accept you!” Chad's threat made Vincent's eyes widen. Now he will definitely be fired.
Some people started laughing at him. Vincent is indeed a geeky guy who has only worked for six months after being unemployed for years after graduating from college. From one corner, Heather Meadow also looked at him with a disappointed look.
"Get your things together now. You are fired!" Chad yelled again. As if hit by lightning, Vincent went limp as soon as Chad fired his gun. Vince, who was lost, seemed to be made fun of by his coworkers one by one.
"Please don't. Vincent began to cry and said, "Please don't fire me!" He begged Donovan to help him.
"Speak to the wall!" Chad laughed and then went into his office, where he told Vincent he was fired and left him in tears. Some of the people who had laughed at him were still making fun of him when he turned around.
But what could regular staff members like Vincent do? Many other people who want to work will be competing for their spots because it's not easy to find work in New York.
Vincent doesn't know what will happen to him now. He no longer has a job, so it will be hard for him to pay all of his bills, like rent, mortgage, health insurance, and other living costs.
Vincent limped back to his desk to get his things because he was tired and sad. Everyone in the room was back to working on their own projects. Vincent Cox is not important to anyone.
He looked up when Heather called out, "Vince?"
"I thought you were smart, but you're even dumber than the last senior IT staff," Heather said, making Vincent feel even worse about himself. When Vincent looked at Heather, she was shocked and looked down at him without laughing.
"I hope you understand what went wrong." Have a nice day!" He went on again, then turned around and walked towards Chadler Donovan's room like nothing was wrong. Donovan is the CEO of Horus Tech Corporation.
Vincent could only look at Heather as she walked away. Vincent told this woman how he felt about her, but he no longer has a job. He got into all of this because Chad Donovan didn't give him a chance. Vincent often works past the standard work hours, but he was fired right away when he made a mistake.
Vincent tightened his hands because he was angry, upset, and ashamed. He gave the door to the CEO's room a sharp look. Vincent lost all hope and could not think straight.
"Made him pay!" Get rid of him! Someone told him something in his ear. Vincent started to breathe more quickly. It seemed like it was going to blow up.
"Kill him!"
***
Vincent's eyes slowly opened. It's not very clear because there is dirt near his eyes. Pain—yes, his body felt a bit sore. His fingertips moved slowly. He got up slowly, then turned around. The sun was starting to rise, marked by the bias of its rays over the walls of the buildings flanking the alley where he was lying.
The sound of a baby's voice made Vincent frown. He sat down, and across the fence, baby Kyron was sitting there, crying in confusion.
Vincent was confused and stood up a little unsteadily. He looked up, then his eyes blinked.
"Oh, my glasses!” he said, suddenly shocked. Vincent looked like a fool looking for glasses, even though he could see very clearly. When Vincent finally found his glasses, he put them on, but his vision was blurry. Only then did he realize that his vision was normal—even too normal.
“I can see clearly. My minus is gone," he added it again, turning his hand to look at it. He could even see baby Kyron crying because his trousers were starting to be bitten by mice. Even though they were almost ten meters apart.
"Hey!" Vincent shouted, running towards baby Kyron, then, without realizing it, jumped over the three-meter-high fence and landed perfectly. His hand quickly grasped a mouse the size of an adult's fist in front of baby Kyron, who was starting to stop crying.
Vincent squeezed the mouse. The rodent squealed in pain. Her little eyes were getting rounder, as if they were going to jump out. Vincent can't control his strength, and BOOM, the rat explodes in his hand. His blood splattered like a bursting water balloon and slightly hit Vincent's face.
He only realized he had killed the plumber rat a few seconds later. Baby Kyron even chuckled while clapping his hands. Meanwhile, Vincent frowned in surprise.
“Are you even laughing? Are you happy to see me kill rats for you?” Vincent joked, somewhat annoyed at baby Kyron, who was still giggling at him. Vincent's nose smelled the rat blood that stained his hands. He brought his palm closer, and he smelled a rather interesting smell.
It was very strange because, in the past, he was always nauseous with the rancid smell of blood. But now I feel like I want to lick it. But no, that's rat blood, isn't it?
Vincent simply wiped his palm on the side of his trousers. Now he stood up and wondered what he had just done. Didn't he just jump over the fence like he was half-floating?
His hand felt his neck, and he felt a wound, but the blood had dried. Vincent was confused about what he was experiencing. He turned to baby Kyron, who was still looking up at him.
"If I was able to jump over the fence earlier, do you think it was a coincidence?" Vincent asked Kyron. Kyron just chuckled with a sweet smile without clear language. Vincent nodded again. Now he is confident enough to try again. He should be able to jump twice over the high fence.
"Look at me!" he said again to Kyron as he took a running stance and then jumped over the fence. Unfortunately, he wasn't tall enough.
"AAAHHKK!"
