Chapter 1
Scott and Mitch walked back out to the party, and found Avi immediately, knowing he would want to know how they were doing. Avi smiled at them. "Well, you two have made quite the impression on the Alphas here. Everyone who is even the slightest bit drunk, is talking about the Alpha/Omega duo, that both look fantastic in shorts."
Scott's face flushed with embarrassment. "Really?"
Avi nodded once, taking a sip of his drink before handing it to Kirstie so she could do the same. "Absolutely. Oh, and Kevin just came back from his shift bartending, and he said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be." Scott nodded slowly. "Oh, that's... Nice..." Avi nodded and patted him on the shoulder. "Glad you guys are okay though. Heard that Mitchell's sass was beyond hilarious." "It was." Scott assured, before laughing a little. Mitch leaned into his side, slipping his hand under Scott's jacket to run his fingers along Scott's back, although it was covered with a thin shirt. Avi smiled at him. "You never fail to amuse me, Tiny." Mitch giggled. "I try." Alex came out of nowhere and set a hand on Mitch's shoulder. "Hi! How are you guys?!" Mitch leaned away slightly. "Why are you so loud?" "I don't know!" Avi tilted his head at him. "Stop shouting, good Lord. Are you okay?" Alex was afraid of his tone, so he obeyed and began to whisper. "I'm fine. I took a few sips of Todrick's drink, but he said I could so." "You're allowed to drink?" "Yeah. One of Travis' rules." Scott frowned at him. "You weren't allowed to have cake, but you were allowed to drink alcohol?"
Alex shrugged, leaning into Mitch without noticing. "Guess I never thought about it like that."
Kirstie frowned too. "That's so sad..." Alex shrugged again, leaning even more into Mitch.
Avi took a step forward and grabbed Alex's suit jacket to force him to stand up straight. "Please don't squish him." Alex giggled. "Oh, sorry." Scott grabbed Mitch's forearm and pulled him carefully to stand on the other side of him, so Alex was no longer beside him. Alex turned and walked away without another word, and Avi just watched him, shaking his head. "I will never understand that boy."
Kirstie took a sip of the drink in her hand, raising an eyebrow. "You said the exact same thing about Alpha Scott."
**********
Midnight was fast approaching, and everyone was playing drinking games and talking loudly over music that someone decided to put on. Most the Alphas had taken off their suit jackets to be more comfortable, and many of the females took off their heels. Mitch convinced Scott to play a game with him, and a few other couples, but none from their pack. Alex somehow got roped into a game of drunk Twister, and Jake stood near the game just to be safe. Both Betas were deep in a conversation with some other Betas, and Avi was helping Kirstie get something else to eat. Scott hadn't had a single drop of alcohol. In fact, the only people in the pack that drank at all were Todrick, Alex and Avi. However, Scott was convinced Mitch was drunk by getting him involved in this game. All it was, was a group of people feeding each other licorice with only their mouths. Red licorice, luckily. Had it been black licorice, Scott would have walked straight out the door. Mitch loved the game, which is the only reason Scott was still standing there. Mitch would grab his shirt to pull him down to feed him the licorice, and then they would both chew until their lips touched. Mitch giggled the first time and shouted. "We're like Lady and The Tramp! I get to be the lady!" Scott pulled him into his body with an arm around his lower back, staring into his eyes and smirking. "Are you calling me a tramp?"
Mitch giggled and pushed his chest away. "No. I would never!"
Scott leaned down to kiss him once more, and then withdrew his body completely.
Finally, midnight began to approach. And as the final minutes ticked away, Avi found his pack naturally drawn towards each other as they watched the television screen count down. Jake and Alex were stood beside each other, behind Avi and Kirstie. Alex was leaning into Jake's side for support, while holding Todrick's hand tightly on his other side. Todrick was pressed against Kevin's front side as they simply took in their surroundings. Kirstie smiled when there was only half a minute of the year left, but her smile dropped when she saw Mitch standing alone. Kirstie pushed Avi away in a hurry, and took the few steps necessary to get to Mitch. "Honey, where is your Alpha?" Mitch glanced toward the side of the room. "Bathroom." "Of course he chooses right now to go to the bathroom." Kirstie grumbled. People began to count down, as the last ten seconds dwindled. Kirstie wanted to help Mitch, but Avi snagged her wrist and turned her around to prepare to kiss her. Kevin and Todrick were already staring into each other's eyes, bright smiles on their faces as they waited for the new year, Todrick's hand still clutched tightly in Alex's larger one off to his side.
Scott walked quickly out of the bathroom, and Mitch ran over to kiss him, allowing their hurried lips to meet the instant the clock ran out. Mitch was up on his tip toes to reach his Alpha's lips, and Scott secretly found it incredibly endearing. Most of the couples had pulled away, but Scott slid one hand down to Mitch's ass, the other resting on Mitch's upper back to keep them pressed close together. When Mitch pulled away from the kiss, he fell back onto flat feet. But Scott felt bad for almost missing their New Years kiss, so he pressed a firm kiss on Mitch's jaw line, before bending even more to kiss Mitch's neck. Mitch leaned into his touch, setting a hand on Scott's bicep. "Alph... Alpha. We're in public."
Scott didn't respond, just continued to attack Mitch's neck. They were officially the last couple still in an embrace, but as soon as Mitch opened his mouth to say something about it, Scott pulled away from him. Mitch grabbed Scott's hand and smiled. "I love you." "I love you more." Kevin pulled Todrick into a hug after he kissed him. "Here's to another year of sorting through our Pack's madness." "Here's to finding happiness in each other, even in the midst of absolute chaos." **********
Chapter 2
People began to clear out around one A.M. Luckily most of the Betas hadn't consumed any alcohol, so the Alphas had a safe way home. Scott had helped Albert put a few things into the kitchen to be dealt with later, before stumbling tiredly back into the living room to find his pack again. The first thing he saw, even through the crowd of people shuffling towards the door, was Alex gripping Mitch's arm for dear life as a tall, fit Alpha towered over him. Alex was nearly the same height, but he probably resembled a child in his tipsy state. And Mitch didn't stand a chance without him. Scott weaved through people, doing his best not to push even though he was clearly in a hurry. The Alpha before Mitch went so far as to reach out and caress Mitch's face, and shove Alex out of the way when he tried to intervene. Scott's eyes went red when Alex fell into the wall, but Alex still tried to stand up again well enough to push back.
Scott just grabbed the Alphas shoulder, and yanked him back. "Get the fuck out of here." The drunk Alpha stumbled a little, but then looked at Mitch again. "I want the little one." Scott grabbed Mitch's wrist and held his hand toward the Alpha. "That sucks, because he's engaged."
"We won't tell the Alpha, will we, Cupcake?" Scott dropped Mitch's arm and stood in front of him, putting himself between the two. "I am the Alpha. And I'm going to have to ask you to step the fuck down." Scott turned his head a little to apologize to the Omegas for his language, but the drunkard took that as his opportunity to claw the vulnerable Alpha in front of him. Scott's hand flew up to his face, where he knew would he bleeding soon, and he snarled. "You ignorant little fuck--" Avi appeared out of nowhere and grabbed the drunk Alpha's arm to pull him toward the door. Scott snarled at him one more time, and then turned around. Alex was shaking in fear, and Mitch was holding his hand. Alex instantly reached toward Scott's face. "Alpha, you're bleeding." Scott leaned out of his touch, not wanting to worry about it. He grabbed Alex's arm, before Mitch's, and pulled them completely out of the banquet hall. Kevin and Todrick had brought the car around, Kirstie was now climbing into the passenger seat with Jake's help. Avi was off to the side, practically screaming at the other Alpha, even though he was much shorter. Alex's eyes inadvertently went blue at the sight of both of their angry red eyes. He whimpered and clung to Scott's arm, although Mitch tried to keep it together by just holding Scott's hand as tight as he could. Kevin came running over to them, his hands over his mouth as soon as he saw the blood that was still on Scott's face. "Good heavens, what happened?"
Scott turned to Alex first. "An Alpha shoved him into a wall. Make sure he is okay."
"But Sir, you're--"
"That was an order, Beta." Scott growled, eyes never leaving Avi and the other Alpha. Mitch squeezed his hand, hoping to get his attention. Scott never, ever snaps at Kevin.
But Scott didn't even breathe in his direction, let alone look down at him. Scott just watched Avi shove the Alpha away from him, and point in the direction of the parking lot. Kevin quickly squeaked out a, "Yes, Sir." He went straight to Alex's side, pulling him toward the car, where he knew he'd find Todrick.
Mitch tried again, this time grabbing Scott's suit jacket and tugging on it like a child. "Alpha..."
Scott finally responded to him, but still didn't look away. "What's wrong, baby? Did you get hurt too?"
"No, but... Alpha, please look at me."
Scott reluctantly pulled his eyes away from Avi, to look down at his Omega. Mitch pouted. "You were mean to Kevin. You don't even know how to be mean. So.. I have to ask. Are you okay?"
"Of course. I just... I don't want Avi to get hurt."
"He's pretty tough. I'm sure he's okay."
Scott glanced over at Avi again, and then shook his head. He looked back down at Mitch and frowned. "My face hurts."
"I'm sorry. It might not hurt if you'd have let Kevin fix it without yelling at him." Mitch sassed quietly. Scott frowned even more. "Don't make me feel worse."
Mitch stood up on his tip toes and kissed Scott's cheek, the one that wasn't bleeding. "I'm sorry. But it's true, y'know." "Yeah, yeah. I know."
Kevin walked over slowly, after going back inside and grabbing a rag, and getting it a little wet. He tapped Mitch on the shoulder. "Here." Mitch turned and took it, turning back to Scott. Scott looked directly at Kevin though. "I'm so sorry, Kev. I didn't mean to snap at you."
"That's alright, Alpha. I didn't mean to undermine your authority. I should've just listened."
"Don't say it like that.. Just... I'm really sorry. Am I forgiven?"
Kevin smiled widely. "Of course, Sir." Avi walked over then, jaw clenched, as he still fumed with anger about the Alpha he was talking to. "Come on, you guys. Todrick wants to get Alex back home as soon as possible."
Kevin turned to follow orders, Mitch right behind him. As Scott passed Avi, Avi grabbed his arm, blatantly staring at the wound on his face. "What the Hell happened to you?"
"No, it's cool. Mitchie is gonna clean it up when we get in the car."
"That isn't what I asked." Avi snapped, already short tempered after his encounter with the other Alpha. Scott nodded once, looking down at the ground. "Oh... Well. That Alpha scratched me when I tried to help the Omegas. That's all."
"He scratched you? What an animalistic thing to do." Avi grumbled. Scott shrugged, and went to follow Mitch into the car. Avi followed him, ending up sitting beside Alex, who was beside Todrick.
Alex was leaning into Todrick's side, eyes closed as if he'd already fallen asleep. And there is a very good chance that he actually did fall asleep. Avi leaned forward to see if Kirstie was okay, sitting in the seat in front of him, in the passenger seat. She too, had fallen asleep. Kevin glanced back at him and smiled, before turning and beginning to drive home. Mitch waited a few minutes, before unbuckling himself and crawling over to straddle Scott's hips. Scott immediately set his hands on Mitch's hips and tilted his head a little. "What are you doing, baby?"
Mitch just shook his head, set a hand on Scott's face, and then brought up the towel to gently wipe the blood off of Scott's face. "Taking care of you."
Scott watched his face, and then accidently let his eyes trail up and down Mitch's body, until he noticed Mitch's hands stop moving the towel. Scott met his eyes, and Mitch was smirking at him. Scott blushed and looked down at himself. "Sorry..."
"It's okay. Just, maybe you should wait until we get home before you decide to.. As Kevin so lovingly puts it... 'Ravage' me." Scott smiled a little, and looked back up to meet his eyes. "I'll try to restrain myself." ***********
Chapter 3
Mitch was in his same position, dabbing Scott's face gently with the towel. Scott flinched once, but was otherwise compliant. At some point, Jake took the towel and put a little disinfectant on it, which Kevin keeps in a box in the car, along with some other medical things. Mitch was even more careful now, knowing it would sting. Scott looked over at Jake, so Mitch had better access to the wound on his cheek, and clenched his jaw to keep his pain under control.
Mitch had to stop halfway through, because of how bad he felt. "Alpha..." He whispered. Scott turned his head. "Done?"
"Well... No. But I don't like that you're in pain."
"Don't worry about it, babe. Just finish up. I'm fine, I promise."
Mitch pouted and reached a shaky hand up to continue disinfecting the wound. Avi was looking out the window, trapped in his own mind, when Alex shifted in his sleep and rested his head on Avi's shoulder. Avi glanced over, and noticed that Alex had fallen asleep holding Todrick's hand in his lap, and even upon falling asleep, he didn't let go. Avi smiled at him, and looked over, meeting Todrick's worried eyes. Todrick grabbed Alex's shoulder to pull him away from Avi. "I'm so sorry, Alpha."
Avi just put his arm over the back of Alex's seat. "That's alright, Todrick. He's fine."
Todrick nodded slowly. "If you change your mind... I'll wake him."
"That won't be necessary." Nearly half way through the drive, Avi glanced around the car, noting that everyone was asleep except Scott and Kevin. Mitch was asleep, in his own seat now, but leaning into Scott's side, with one arm over Scott's lap. Scott was just running his hand up and down Mitch's back, not really thinking about it. Jake was asleep as well, leaning his head back on the seat. Todrick fell asleep after Alex woke up just long enough to roughly tuck Todrick under his arm and kiss his temple. Todrick had blinked at him. "Go back to sleep, honey. We still have at least an hour." Alex nodded and smiled lazily. "Okay. I love you."
Todrick smiled right back, bringing Alex's hand up to kiss it briefly. "I love you too, Allie. Sleep."
Alex nodded and closed his eyes, leaning back into Avi. "Yes, Sir." He mumbled. And then the two had fallen asleep. Kirstie still hadn't woken up since the first time she fell asleep, and Kevin was just peacefully driving, a smile occasionally drifting on to his face when he thought of something he liked. Scott cleared his throat quietly, trying to speak quietly enough to not wake anyone up. "Um.. Alpha?"
Avi just hummed, Alex's body making it too hard for him to turn and actually see Scott. "Are we... Going to work for The Counsel?"
"If you want to."
"Are you going to?"
"I mean.. I don't know. Too much is going on for me to make that kind of decision right now."
Scott nodded slowly, taking a second before answering. "And what about the house? Are we really moving?"
"We're definitely moving. I just don't know where... See, The Counsel building that they want us to work in is about a half hour away from Esther's house so... Somewhere in the middle, I guess." Scott nodded again. "Okay.. Um. Avi? I have to tell you something..." Kevin looked back at him in the rear view mirror, slightly concerned, but not wanting to say anything. Avi furrowed his eyebrows even though Scott couldn't see him. "I'm listening."
"I just.. When we have to move..? My shoulder has been hurting like crazy recently... And... I don't know if I'll really be able to help. But I promise I'll try my best."
"I completely understand. That is perfectly fine. The amount of pain you've gone through for this pack is already.. Remarkable. I wouldn't expect you to do anything more than you already have. And the fact that you're actually asking me if you can take care of yourself..." He shook his head slowly. Scott blushed and looked down, but only Kevin saw him do so. Avi smiled to himself. "It's fine, Rookie. Take it easy, yeah?"
"Yes, Sir. Thank you." **********
When the pack returned home, Todrick and Kevin nearly collapsed on the couch, both falling asleep almost immediately. Avi carried Kirstie to bed, after saying quick 'goodnight's to everyone. Jake helped Alex walk in the house, Alex leaning almost every single bit of his weight into Jake. Alex waved obnoxiously at Todrick, whose eyes were closed anyway. "Goodnight, T-Bird!" Todrick cracked one eye open. "Goodnight, Lex."
Scott closed the door behind himself as he walked in, Mitch on his hip like a small child. Mitch was awake, but Scott insisted on carrying him anyway. Scott walked them both into their bedroom, before laying Mitch down, and beginning to help him undress. Mitch grabbed both of Scott's hands to stop him. "Don't you ever get tired? I know you were awake the whole drive home. Just.. Take a break."
Scott stared at him. Mitch rolled his eyes and pulled on Scott's arm so he would lay down, Scott being too tired to fight back. Scott was half on top of him, so he lifted himself up a little as to not crush him. "Mitchie.. I just wanted to help you get ready for bed."
Mitch closed his eyes and smiled, wrapping his arms around Scott and pulling him down to hold him flush against his own body. Scott tried to protest, legitimately afraid he would squish Mitch's little body beneath him. "Mitchie, stop it. I'll crush you."
"Oh, stop. You're fine." Mitch assured. Scott did absolutely everything he could to keep weight off of Mitch, but he was afraid he wouldn't be able to, as he got more and more tired. "Baby.. Please let me move." Mitch opened his eyes and frowned. "But... I wanna hold you.." He practically whimpered.
Scott frowned right back. "Aw, honey... You can if you want to. Just.. Let me take this band aid off.. And then you can get ready for bed.. Sound good?"
"Yes. Thank you."
Scott stood from the bed when Mitch let go of him. He went into the bathroom and carefully peeled the band aid off of his face to toss it into the trash can.
He frowned at the scar, and then walked back into the room, where Mitch was standing by the closet in only his boxers. Correction; Scott's boxers. Scott could tell because they were nearly slipping off of his narrow hips, and he had to pull them up every few seconds. Scott walked over to him and wrapped his arms around Mitch from behind, resting his chin on Mitch's shoulders. He slid his hands down Mitch's abdomen until he reached the elastic part of his boxers. "Why are you wearing my underwear?" "Because..." Mitch tilted his head in thought, but couldn't come up with anything, so he just shrugged. Scott chuckled lightly and moved his arms to give Mitch's torso a quick squeeze before moving away completely. He saw Mitch's clothes tossed in a pile, so he did the same and tossed his clothes in the same direction before changing his boxers. Scott then climbed onto the bed, and closed his eyes to wait for Mitch to come out of the bathroom. Mitch climbed into the bed moments later, grinning when he saw that Scott did his best to cram into a pair of Mitch's boxers. Mitch giggled at the sight, because they were very tight and way too short, but Scott still forced himself into them just to make Mitch smile. And Mitch could only think about how silly that was. That Scott would purposely make himself uncomfortable, just for Mitch's enjoyment. How strange.
