Chapter 1 — : Luna or Omega?
"Hurry up! Alpha is coming back! What are you dragging for?"
The pack’s Beta, Melvin Phillips, urged Della Gordon impatiently as if she was some kind of a lazy omega.
However, Della was much more than that. She was the Luna of the Blue Moon Pack and Ethan’s mate. Melvin had been Ethan’s beta for as long as she could remember.
Della didn't complain at all. She was preparing dinner with sweat all over her forehead. When she placed the last dish on the table, she saw Ethan coming in with Katie Johnson beside him.
She had been the Luna for three years, but Ethan had ignored her those same years.
Every night, when he was away, Katie would send threatening messages and intimate photos she had with Ethan to remind her.
Although the Moon Goddess had chosen her to be Ethan's mate, Ethan didn't love her.
Katie leaned against Ethan enchantingly and said, "Della, I'm so sorry to disturb you. Did you cook all these? They are so amazing. Unlike me, I'm always in poor health. Ethan cares so much about me and won’t allow me to cook."
Della pursed her lips. Katie’s appearance and words were nothing but a reminder that Ethan never cared for Della at all.
"Is it strange that a wolfhore trying to rob another’s mate can enter the house without shame now?” Della couldn’t help but utter with disgust.
Robbing other people’s mates was the most disdainful thing for werewolves to do. In the past, when the werewolves did this, they called them “wolfhore”. They thought that only when they colluded with the witches could they have the ability to bewitch others' mates, and they would expel them from the pack. But times had changed. Wolfhore was no longer a severe crime. The wolves were losing their faith.
Katie pursed her lips in a grievance. "Della, don't get me wrong. It's the pack doctor who said that I am weak and need more nutrition. So Ethan takes me here for lunch."
Della clenched her fists and replied, “Katie, are we that familiar with each other? I'm cooking to fulfill my Luna's obligation to let my Alpha enjoy a good food after a busy day. What does it have to do with you?"
Ethan frowned at that and scolded, "What are you doing, Della? Is this the courtesy you as a Luna should have when facing a guest?”
"That's right. Anyway, what does our Luna can do to serve us? It’s just a meal. Why can’t we have one more person to eat with us?" Heidi, Ethan’s sister, went downstairs impatiently.
"Besides, if you hadn't intervened, Katie might have been my brother's Luna." Heidi habitually sat at the table and patted the seat beside her. "Katie, come and sit here."
Even Melvin hypocritically echoed, "Being indifferent to weak pack members is not qualified for a qualified Luna."
The ringing of Ethan's phone grabbed everyone's attention. Ethan picked it up and hung up after a few simple words.
"I have something to take care of it in the pack. Melvin, come with me."
Ethan left in a hurry with Melvin and did not even say if he would be back tonight. Looking at the two people at the table, Della lost her appetite. "I’m already full. Enjoy yourselves."
After speaking, she turned around and went upstairs. Lying on the bed, Della kept recalling the past three years. She had fallen in love with Ethan at first sight when she saw Ethan giving a speech at Werewolf University as the new Alpha. She couldn't forget the intoxicating scent she whiffed off of him. He was the mate that the Moon Goddess had arranged for her. More importantly, Della personally liked him as well.
It was her dream to be his Luna. But when it happened, all the filters were broken.
He was as gentle as she thought and dreamt about, but not to her. He was as strong as she thought but unwilling to protect her.
In order to maintain their fragile mate bond, she sacrifice everything and swallowed her pride. She did everything for the Blue Moon Pack. She did all the housework, and lived as if she was an omega. No matter how much difficulties Ethan's mother and sister gave her, she endured them all and never brought him any trouble.
She thought that as long as she tried harder and endured a little, he could see her worth. But he still took Katie to have dinner at their place without caring about her feelings.
Was he going to have her make room for Katie in the future?
She was deep in her thoughts when a knock on her door brought her back to reality.
Upon opening the door, Della was met with an aggravated look from Katie. "I'm sorry, Della. I didn't realize today was your third wedding anniversary. I came here to disturb you."
"Ethan is not here. You don't have to pretend to be pitiful." Della was not in the mood to deal with Katie’s pretense, so she instantly exposed her scheme.
Katie instantly changed her expression and snorted contemptuously. She entered Della’s room and said, "Della, if I were you, I would reject Ethan as soon as possible. He didn’t have you in his heart at all."
Della frowned and said, "Is it important? As long as I'm still alive, I'll still be the Blue Moon Pack’s Luna and his mate."
Katie looked around and sneered. "Don't be arrogant. Guess what Ethan will do if I get hurt in your room?"
Della was evident that Ethan would never believe that she was innocent. She had a bad feeling and immediately scolded, "Get out!"
"Three years. It's been too long. I don't want to wait any longer," Katie warned with a smug smile. The next second, Katie suddenly turned around, grabbed the eyebrow razor on the dressing table, and stabbed it into her belly!
"Della, I want your life." Blood oozed from the corner of Katie's mouth. She looked behind her and said, "Heidi, help me..."
In the hospital.
When Ethan arrived, the pack doctor just came out of the emergency room.
"The wound had a hint of wolfbane! The injured 's kidney has been infected and can't be cured. She must have a new kidney!"
"Della! Why are you so vicious?"
Della was pulled harshly by him, making her yelp in pain as she tried to explain. "I didn’t do it!”
Ethan threw her against the wall. "Do you mean Katie stabbed herself? How did you get the wolfbane?"
"Della! I saw it with my own eyes. Katie saw that you were unhappy and went to apologize to you. You stabbed her in your room. If I hadn't been there in time, Katie would have died!" Heidi cried.
The pack doctor was a little anxious. "The injured are in danger now!"
"You! Compensate Katie with your kidney!" Heidi suddenly remembered and pointed at her. "She is the murderer. She deserves it!"
Ethan got close to Della and looked at her coldly, "It's your fault. You should compensate her."
"Without any evidence, you already concluded I'm guilty? Alpha Ethan, is this how you lead your pack?" Della's heart ached at his assumption.
Ethan frowned and asked, "Will Heidi lie to me? Is the pack doctor also lying to me?"
Della was so angry that she sneered. In the past three years, it was not the first time that Katie had played tricks, and Heidi bullied her more than once. Ethan believed everyone but her.
"Ethan, reject me."
"Now, you know how to repent?" Ethan sneered.
Della's heart sank. "From now on, we will be strangers. Whether you choose Katie as your mate or someone else, it has nothing to do with me."
Ethan snorted. "I’ll reject you, as you wish. Before that, pay the price for your mistake."
Della looked firm and showed a very tough attitude. "Get out of my way!"
She pushed away the pack doctor and barged into the operating room.
Lying on the operating table, Katie was talking to a nurse.
"You want my life so much," Della said coldly.
"Della..."
Della slapped her with all her strength without hesitation.
"Della!" Ethan, who was catching up with her, pulled a long face.
"What? Are you afraid that I will hurt her?" Della asked in a disdainful tone.
Ethan looked at Katie and comforted her, "Don't be afraid. I won't let anything happen to you."
A successful smile flashed across Katie's eyes. "Ethan, it hurts..."
Della pressed her finger on her belly where her kidney was located and asked, "Do you want it?"
"Della, I don't blame you. If you don't want to undergo transplant for me, I won't complain," Katie said as tears fell from her eyes.
"If you want it, you have to hurt me first." Della walked towards her with a terrifying aura around her.
She lifted the sterile cloth from Katie's body, and her abdominal wound was clearly shown in front of everyone.
Ethan's face darkened.
There was only a three centimeter deep cut on her fair skinned abdomen, and it wasn’t even bleeding anymore.
Just as Della had expected, the razor was not sharp and it was too tiny. Katie was not cruel enough to hurt herself that severely.
As for the wolfbane? Katie wouldn't even touch such a deadly thing!
In the past, she cared about Ethan and didn't want to make him angry or quarrel with him. So, she just let Katie play her little tricks and didn’t expose her to him.
Now, her heart had gone cold as ice and as hard as rock. She didn't care about Ethan's feeling anymore. She would no longer allow Katie to sling mud at her.
"Katie, it's just a cut. If you want my kidney, better keep dreaming because it won’t happen.” She approached Katie step by step and pointed at her wound.
"No..." Katie had never seen her like that before. She looked like a devil crawling out of hell. "I... I don't know anything. Maybe the pack doctor falsely diagnosed me. Please don't be angry."
"Really? Then I'll tear it bigger for you and let your Ethan see if your internal organs are broken." Della tightened her fingers, and the wound in Katie's abdomen instantly overflowed with blood.
Katie eyes widened and she looked at Ethan beggingly. "Ethan, help me! For Oscar’s sake, my brother, please help me.”
Hearing the name "Oscar", Ethan got a little moved.
He rushed over and grabbed Della's wrist. "That's enough."
Della let go of Katie and said dejectedly, "That's enough…"
"Ethan, we've already mating. If you want to reject me, it should be in the full moon night, witnessed by Elders. Don't worry, I won't appear in front of you before the next full moon night. I won't disturb your relationship with Katie. After the next full moon night, we will have nothing to do with each other."
Chapter 2 — : Compensation
Looking at the back of Della leaving, Ethan's wolf, Raid, roared anxiously. "Ethan, you have wronged our mate! Hurry up and make her stay!"
In a fit of anger, Raid began to fight for the control over his body, but Ethan suppressed him.
“Don’t make a fuss. She can leave even if she wants!" Ethan said to Raid, but his heart seemed to be empty and unsure as well.
"Ethan..." Katie called out softly.
Ethan shook off his strange thoughts. Della was an orphan. If she left him, she would definitely come back sooner or later.
Today, he blamed her wrong.
He would make it up when things were over. For now, he needed to deal with the matter at hand.
Ethan turned to look at the pack doctor and asked, "Kidney infection? Wolfbane? Dying?"
Trembling with fear, the pack doctor glanced at Katie from time to time and said, "It's not a false diagnosis. Alpha, please have mercy on us. It was all Miss Johnson's idea. She said that as long as Luna Della die, she would be the new Luna, so we must listen to her..."
"Fuck off!" he shouted in his Alpha tone in anger. For pack members, such tone was domineering and drowning. In fear, the pack doctor left immediately.
"I have indulged you too much in the past few years." His eyes were gloomy.
"Ethan, I'm sorry. Please forgive me for Oscar's sake," Katie pleaded while crying as she used her brother’s name again as if it was some kind of ticket that would always save her.
Ethan sighed. "This is the last time. Katie. The position of being the Luna in Blue Moon Pack will never belong to you. If you dare to cheat and fool me again, Oscar Johnson won't be able to save you even if he comes back to life."
After leaving the hospital, Ethan immediately tried to connect with Della through mind link. But Della had blocked him completely.
Gritting his teeth, Ethan took out his phone and called Della, but she didn't answer either.
Della seemed to have disappeared from the world, leaving no trace. She was not in her home and places she often went.
…
In the Blood River Pack, Alpha’s mansion.
The man on the sofa in the living room had his legs crossed, and his gold rimmed glasses set off his dignity. "Are you willing to see me now?"
Looking at him, Della twitched her mouth and cried hysterically.
"Brother!"
"Come on, stop crying. Just take revenge on the one who bullied you. Are you afraid that I can't take care if you?" The man asked casually.
Derek Dalton pursed his lips, with anger blazing in eyes.
He took Della with him and they stuck together since their parents passed away many years ago. His sister had suffered grievance without his protection.
He had promised Della that he would not expose her identity. As the Alpha of Blood River Pack and her brother, he wouldn't let go of Ethan that easily.
In terms of strength, Blue Moon Pack was one of the best in America. But it couldn't compete with the Blood River Pack even if it had ten packs.
Being tired of crying, Della said in a hoarse voice, "Brother, I want to reject Ethan."
She realized that as long as Ethan would care about her, he would not allow Katie to plot against her in such a ridiculous way.
For the so-called love, she condescended to compromise. She cut off all her relatives and friends from her life. She had done everything she could for Ethan.
But she couldn't let her self-esteem get fully ruined because of them.
She also didn't want to give it up, but it was for the better.
Derek rubbed her hair dotingly and said, "Okay."
"Pumpkin, as we agreed, all that our parents left in the Blood River Pack, including the position of being an alpha, are yours. Since you have decided to reject that bastard, come back and inherit our pack and businesses. I can build another Pack, which will be a branch that is loyal to the Blood River Pack, and whose new business will be run independently. In the future, you will be the Alpha of Blood River Pack."
Della nodded. "Brother… thank you."
Derek smiled and said, "Come on, don't be so polite to me. Jaden will take you to the Dalton Group and introduce you the industries of our Pack. If there are something you can't do or understand, just tell me. You are the little princess of our pack. Since you are willing to come back, you deserve everything."
Della nodded, feeling warm in her heart, for the first time in a long time.
When she took the cheque to the Blue Moon Pack, she didn't see Ethan. Only Heidi was at home.
At the sight of Della, Heidi remembered that her pocket money had been deducted by Ethan for a month, which made her very angry. So, she said, "Oh, you can't live outside anymore, right? I even thought you were a proud person, but you come back to spend my brother's money."
"The amount of money on this check is enough to cover all that I might have spent from Ethan. No, it should be far more than it. After we officially reject each other, we will no longer owe each other." Della said coldly.
Chapter 3 — : True Identity
"You..." Heidi turned to look at her and found that she was wearing a custom-made luxury Camouflage Dress.
The existence of the werewolves was a secret. Only a few human leaders knew about them. Therefore, once the werewolves’ existence was exposed, it would definitely provoke human's attack.
In order not to be discovered, the werewolves in lower class might not leave their Pack for the rest of their lives. But the ones in upper middle class would wear a special Camouflage Dress to blend into the human society.
Camouflage Dress was a coat made of a special cloth on human's materials, which could cover up the wolf smell and other characteristics of the user. It could also mislead the machines that human beings used to detect a werewolf. It was a luxury object in the werewolf society and was very expensive.
Although Heidi was Ethan's sister, her only Camouflage Dress was the most ordinary one. She had been complaining to Ethan as it was making hard for her to blend in properly to human world and have fun.
However, she observed that the Camouflage Dress that Della wore was the same style as the one at the Paris Fashion Week a few days ago. That Camouflage Dress had been very popular recently. Even the Luna from Alpha King had one, so countless werewolves and aristocrats scrambled for it, but it was still difficult to buy.
"Your clothes are fake, aren't they? Della, listen, don't hold your head too high. Go and cook now. Lucy has asked for a vacation to go home. I don't want to eat a take out," she ordered.
Looking at her domineering appearance, Della could not suppress the grievance in her heart any much longer.
She threw the check on Heidi's face and said, "Look, I won't serve you anymore! Heidi, do your friends know your true nature? Open your eyes wide and see how despicable you are for treating a Luna as a servant!”
"You... How dare you curse me!" Heidi looked at her in disbelief.
Over the years, it was the first time that Della had treated her like that.
"I was scolding you, but so what, Heidi? If I were you, I would learn how to be smarter. You looked like an idiot without saying anything when you went out. If your brother died, the whole Blue Moon Pack would immediately sell you to a rogue pack," Della uttered with a sharp tongue.
Heidi was stunned and didn't know how to respond.
After Della left, she vowed after a long while of recovery. "Della, wait for me. I'll complain about you to my brother!"
At the Gordon Group building under the name of Blue Moon Pack.
The door of the CEO's office was pushed open. With a check in her hand, Heidi pounded on Ethan's desk. "Brother, Della is too arrogant. She scolded me!"
"She's back?" Ethan's eyes were full of expectation.
"Well, she just came back home. She said she wanted to reject you." Heidi didn't realize it until she looked at the thing in her hand. "No, she has no one to rely on outside, but she really wants to reject you. And is this check fake? There are so many zeros on it..."
"Shut up." Ethan started to have a headache because of her noise.
Every zero on the paper was like a knife being plunged in his heart.
Was she really going to continue with the rejection? Where did she get the money? Did ...
Raid was so anxious that he gritted his teeth and said, "Ethan, you drove our mate away. Our mate! I am warning you, don't think that you can just do whatever you want! Don't you know what this rejection means to us?"
"Shut up!"
Ethan held the check tightly with his fingers, and his knuckles turned white.
"What else did she say?"
Heidi didn't dare to say anything more and lowered her head.
Looking through the documents, Ethan’s face darkened.
"Brother?" Heidi asked tentatively. "Does she want to embarrass you and pretend to pay you back with an empty cheque? Maybe her purpose was to get more money from you.”
Ethan bit his lower lip and tried hard not to scold his stupid sister.
How could anyone give money to swindle for it? Only her idiot sister would think of such a thing.
Noticing that Ethan didn't look good, Heidi thought that he was getting mad at Della, so she exaggerated, "Brother, she is jealous that you love Katie. She knows that she has no way out, so she came up with this idea. She wants others in our pack to laugh at you. Don't be fooled!"
Della thought that everything was over and she only needed to wait for the next full moon night, but to her surprise, as soon as she got home, she received a call from Melvin, Ethan's Beta and assistant.
"Miss Gordon, about the rejection process, I will talk to you in detail on behalf of Alpha..." Melvin used to sneer at Della, but at this time, his tone was surprisingly polite.
"It's Miss Dalton. My last name is no longer Gordon."
He was rendered speechless.
"What else do you want to talk about?"
With the phone in her hand, Melvin looked at the man beside him carefully. "Miss... Dalton, Alpha has prepared thirty million in cash and a house property as compensation for you."
Della snorted at what she heard. "Is he stupid? I have paid him back with every penny he had spent on me. I won't ever ask for a penny from Blue Moon Pack in my life."
Melvin couldn't understand what was going on. Every time an Alpha would his Luna, she would usually ask for compensation. But, Ethan, who his Alpha, took the initiative to compensate and was even scolded.
Feeling the murderous eyes on him, Melvin wiped the sweat on his forehead and continued, "This is Alpha's decision. Miss Dalton, please accept it."
"I don't accept it." Della hung up the phone decisively.
In the past few years, when she lived in the Blue Moon Pack, she had been the Luna nominally, but in fact, she had been doing the servants' work instead.
She had a lot of money, so she didn't want to ask money from him as she didn't want to be like a servant who had to serve him after taking his money. However, Ethan and everyone from the Blue Moon Pack didn't think they owe her.
After hanging up the phone, she picked up her car key.
She had made an appointment with Jaden yesterday so she could learn everything about her pack and their businesses.
Walking into the garage, Della took a deep breath. Now… she’s back to her original life.
