Chapter 1
"Happy birthday Lauren" My sister Karina said as I came down the stairs,she hugged me and then left to see her friend Jay who was the Alpha's son. I looked around for my parents and as usual I didn't find them ,only a birthday cake and a note wishing me happy birthday.
I lit the candle and made a wish before I blew it out and served my self a piece of the cake. My dad was the Alpha's right hand as he was a beta and my mom was a pack doctor so they hardly spent time at home and when they did it was to talk to my sister. My sister Karina was the eldest and she was spoilt rotten due to my parents pampering her and I the younger child was delegated to the background.
My parents believed that Karina was Jay's mate but I doubted it as they were both 23 years old without any mate pull. Karina had been trained to be the Alpha's Luna by my parents the moment she became Jay's friend.
I finished my slice of cake and headed to my work place which was the pack hospital. Right after I finished high school,I enrolled in the pack's course for medicine and I graduated top of my class. My parents were a little proud of me as they believed that I was being useful. I wished I would find a mate that would treat me well and make me feel loved.
"Happy birthday, swiftie" I turned back to look at Blake who was the only one to ever call me that. The nickname came to be after he watched me run one night and he declared I was the fastest wolf he had ever seen. Blake was Jay's beta to be and they had been friends since they were kids.
"Thank you,slow pole" I laughed as I accepted the package he stretched out to me and looked inside.
"Hey" He bumped my shoulder and began to walk with me." I am not slow ,you are just so fast and I just got you some books,I know it isn't much"
"It is more than enough,I have wanted these books for a while now,thank you"
"Aren't you supposed to be at home or somewhere enjoying your birthday " He asked as we reached the hospital.
"Nope,my mom put me on duty today,see you later" I waved him goodbye and entered the hospital heading straight for my mom's office.
"Did you see your cake?" My mom asked me.
"Yes,thank you "
"You can have a party later but your sister has something big coming up together and we can't let your birthday delay it"
My mom's words hurt as I have always had to sacrifice everything for my sister despite the fact that I was younger ,and I couldn't even have my birthday to myself. I blinked fast to avoid tears and asked her what I would be doing for the day.
"We have a visitor from a pack ,she got sick on her way home and had to come here. Just go there and watch over her , page me if she wakes up and needs anything"
I left the office and headed to the first floor. The first floor was for the top ranking people so she had to be important if she was put here. I knocked on the door and when I didn't receive an answer,I went in and I saw that she was still asleep. I sat on a chair opposite her and began to read one of the books I had with me, after a while I felt eyes on me and I looked up to see the patient awake.
"Hi, do you need anything?" I asked her standing up to check her vitals.
"Oh, I am good, what is your name?"
"Lauren"
"That's a good name,tell me, what is the title of your book?"
"The creation of the moon, it is a book about the different shifters creater by the moon goddess"
"What have you learnt, my dear?"
"A lot on different shifters and how the werewolves were the moon goddess first creation and also about the existence of the alpha of all Alphas"
"The Alpha of all Alphas hmm"
"Yes, according to this book the Alpha of all Alphas is the most powerful werewolves,he is the only one that can successfully shift into a lycan , just imagine how extremely powerful he would be and oh he has to come from a family of royal pure breeds. I have never met a royal pure breed before,do you know what they would look like. Oh my God,I am sorry I went on a rant"
"No,it is totally fine I learnt a lot from you and yes I have met a royal pure breed "
"What do they look like ?"
"Come closer,my dear"
I moved my chair closer to her bed and I watched her eyes change from its original color to pure white. For a while I was dumbstruck and couldn't say a word until I heard her talk.
"Did I break you?" She asked laughing as her eyes reverted back to its original color.
"That was magnificent and beautiful,you had like dark iris and white pupils,you can switch back so fast like a light switch"
She was about to reply me when my mom came in and I had to move away. My mom did some tests on her and asked if she would like to switch doctors so I would leave and some else who stay. I was happy when she said she was fine with me.
"What is your name?" I asked her after my mom left and I took my sit again.
"Gloria"
Gloria and I spoke a lot until my mom came to inform me that we had to go home for my sister's surprise.
"This is my best birthday ever " I told Gloria as I packed my things so I could leave.
"Today is your birthday" She exclaimed,"I have to give you a gift but I don't have anything here"
"You spoke with me today and I learnt alot that's enough for me,I better go can't keep my mom waiting "
"See you tomorrow, Lauren "
"You too"
I left the room and hurried downstairs to meet my mom and we both headed back home together. When I got home I had to set the table as my parents informed me about a big announcement for my sister. I couldn't think about what it would possibly be because my sister never did anything big.
I looked up just in time to see my sister enter the house with Jay and the word that came out of his mouth made me drop the spoon.
"Mate" Jay growled and everyone gasped.
Of course,I could feel the connection between us and I smiled as I felt happy about meeting my mate. Jay and I had never been close but now that we were mates we could rectify that. My wolf growled inside of me as I watched my sister tighten her hold on his arm.
"I am sorry,lee but Jay and I are getting married" My sister said while smiling up at him.
Chapter 2
What but he is my mate" I looked round at my parents and then back at my sister and Jay.
"Karina has been training to be my Luna ever since and she fit the position perfectly" Jay said.
"But what about me, you know I am your mate ,don't I get a chance too"
"Lee" my sister said walking up to me and holding my hands," Jay loves me and we have been together since forever and we don't need a mate bond to prove that we are right for each other. Jay may be your mate but I can't give him up he is mine".
"Lauren, listen to your sister ,you will find your own man and besides you are not cut out to support an Alpha" My dad told me as he tried to play advocate.
I looked at Jay who avoided my eyes and also my mom to see who would support me but none looked me in the eyes and I couldn't stop tears from falling.
"No" I shouted snatching my hands away from my sister
"Don't be selfish, Lauren" My dad said and I turned to him in shock.
"Selfish?" I asked laughed hysterical and I saw my mom take a step towards me. " All my life,I have never had something or someone for myself, everything Lauren no your sister needs this, your sister is more important,your sister this, your sister that. You guys never cared about me and I never made you guys proud,you couldn't even be decent and throw me a birthday party. Now I have found someone who is supposed to be me but Karina gets to have him too ,I hate all of you and everyday I wish I wasn't born into this family" I wiped my tears angrily and stomped upstairs ignoring my dad's shouts.
I locked the doors to prevent anyone from coming in and I cried myself to sleep. The next morning, my mom knocked to let me know my father and Jay had a solution to the problem. I went downstairs and saw my parents along with Jay,my sister and two guards.
"So I know last night wasn't eventful so I found a solution" Jay said while looking straight at me. " My wolf doesn't like the idea of you being with another person and it isn't making things easy for me and your sister. So we decided that I would mate with you to prevent my wolf from going crazy and still marry your sister".
"What?" I asked disgusted.
"Lauren listen,you just have to mate with him whenever he needs to you to calm his wolf and that way you get your mate and your sister gets her husband." My father said smiling like he just found the solution to world peace.
"Fuck no, I refuse to let myself be used as a toy in this fucked up scene you have all concorted" I stood up and took a deep breath before I spoke again. "I don't want Jay anymore, Karina you can get married to him just let me be"
"I was hoping we would not have to come to this " Jay said as he stood up and the two guards grabbed me.
"Let me go , what do you want with me?" I yelled as I started kicking and shouting.
"If we have to force you we would,we can't have you risking the future of our pack" My father said as I walked towards me with a syringe.
"Mom ,mom please let me go" I screamed at my mom who had tears in her eyes.
"Martins" My mother called my dad and she shook her head.
"This is the only option we have" My dad told her and I saw my mom look away as my dad injected me with the syringe.
My shouts died down as I felt my body become heavy and everywhere went black. When I woke up again it was in a small room with a tiny window, I didn't know how long I had blackout. I couldn't even cry anymore as I was tired and drained. My mind went to Gloria who would be waiting for me to teach me more things . After some time the door opened but the bars remained there and I saw Karina.
"Why are you doing this to your self,Lee" Karina said as she looked at me angrily.
"You guys did this to me"
"Just agree and everything will go back to normal, don't you feel guilty mom is constantly fighting with dad and Jay's wolf is being crazy."
"And I am supposed to care?" I turned my back to her and she left after a while. I wasn't sure how many days had passed as only my dad and Karina came to visit my everyday without food or water. One night as I was about to sleep, I heard my mom's voice at the door.
"Lauren"
"How long have I been here mom?"
"Two days, Lauren "
"It feels like I have been here for years" I said laughing and I turned to look at her properly.
"Here I brought you something to eat" my mom said pushing a small plate into my room.
"Why should I trust you?"
"Just eat it" My mom snapped at me and I picked up the plate to eat the toast. She waited till I was done, gave me water and took the plate.
"I don't think you are supposed to feed me"
"I am a useless mother you know,I followed my husband's words till it ruined our family. I am at fault and I am sorry for how I made you feel all those years." My mom apologized to me while crying and I was too shocked to reply.
"I am going to get you out of here one way or the other. Your father wants Jay to force mate you tomorrow before planning the wedding with Karina and I can't let that happen to you,just hold on for me okay" She said and I nodded as she left.
My mom's apology to me came as a big surprise to me even though she wasn't as mean as my dad was to me. Sometimes, she was nice to me and got me things but nevertheless she still ignored me and gave a lot of attention to my sister. After the meal I had I felt a bit better and I went to sleep only to be woken up by someone shaking me.
"Blake?" I sat up rubbing my eyes to see properly.
"We have to get you out of here before they all wake up"
Chapter 3
I hurried to my feet after hearing those words and I asked what was next.
"So I am going to sneak you out through the back of the house since right now everyone is in the hall for a meeting"
"But won't your smell linger here when they find out I am gone?"
"Your mom toke care of that already "
Blake led me to the back and we continued to walk into the forest until we got close to the gate where I saw my mom waiting.
"Did anybody see you?" My mom asked as she handed me clean clothes.
Immediately I knew what she wanted me to do so I took off my old clothes and gave it to her. Blake took the clothes from my mom and turned to give me a hug.
" I am sorry this happened to you, you deserve better and you will get it. Make sure you get better and find what you want ,that's the biggest revenge ever" Blake said before taking off into the woods with my clothes in his hands.
My mom held my hand and led me to a car. She hugged me for a while without saying anything untill she heard the bell that signified the end of the meeting.
" I am sorry for the way I treated you, just call me when you get there safe and let me know".
"Where am I going to?" I asked her as she opened the car boot and asked me to go in. I went into the boot and she gave me food inside a plastic plate.
"Somewhere you will like" she said and I nodded waving at her as she shut the boot. I waited for a while then I heard the car start to move and I prayed to God to make sure that they don't find me or I don't end up some place worst. I was dozing off when the car stopped and I heard the car door open and someone got out. I heard my breathe as someone opened the car door and looked up and saw Gloria.
"Come out my dear, we have gone past your territory"
I climbed out of the boot with my shaky legs and Gloria had to hold me to steady me.
"I am sorry I got into you car,I just needed to get out" I apologized hoping she wouldn't leave me out here with no where to go.
"I knew you were in my boot and before you ask how let's go into the car and continue the journey first"
I entered that car with her and she made me eat the food my mom pack for me. After eating I waited patiently for Gloria who kept looking at me .
"You know I was expecting you three days ago and when you didn't arrive, I asked your mom about you and she said you had to go somewhere urgently. Yesterday, she came to me and went on her knees asking me to help her daughter"
"My mom did that?"
"Yes,she explained what happened and begged me to take you with me . She wanted me to find a place for you in my pack or somewhere safe, said it was her fault things turned out like this"
"You don't have to feel obliged to help me because my mom asked you, you can just drop me off somewhere"
"Oh hush, no one can make me do what I don't want to do ,I like you and your family is wrong for how they treat you "
"Thank you, I thought I would never get out you know. I was surprised when my mom and Blake got me out" I folded my hands in my lap " I can work in your pack's hospital to repay you for everything "
"You don't need to repay me and of course, your mom told me about how good you are and how fast you are so you are joining the hospital if you want to"
"I do , thank you "
"I can see your eyes closing,now go to sleep and I will wake you when we get home "
I don't know how long I slept because I felt a lit peaceful since I left my pack. I woke up when I heard Gloria call my name softly. I opened my eyes and looked around the environment in awe.
"Welcome to the royal pack" Gloria told me as she took my hand and led me to the biggest house in the environment. I couldn't see everything in the place since it was very big and was built like a city on its own.
"I have only heard of your pack in passing, like maybe my dad mentioned something about deals with your pack"
She led me into the house and she was rushed by a lot of people which prompted me to step back and patiently wait the greetings ended. After a while, Gloria was able to separate from the crowd and she held my hand taking me upstairs.
"I will answer all your questions later, right now my visitor needs to rest." Gloria said as we stepped into an elevator.
"Gloria, are you perhaps the royal royal family of werewolves,you know the ones that are pure breed"
"Well,you catch on pretty fast"
"Why were you without any guards when you took your trip ,what if someone killed you or something?" I asked shocked thar she took that risk.
"You don't have to be worried about me, I can defend myself and besides no one knew I was leaving until I left"
The elevator door opened to an hallway and she led me into one of the rooms. The room was at the top floor and overlooked the whole place,I could see everywhere from here.
"This is your room, do you like it?"
"I love it,I can see everything and it has a great view. The bed and everything is fit for a princess"
"Good, have a bath ,there are some clothes in that closet and come downstairs to eat"
"Thank you, can I call my mom when I am done?"
"Yes, she must be worried"
Gloria left the room and I headed straight for the bathroom. I fixed the water to warm before I stepped into it. I relaxed and thought about how I had lost my pack in just one day, I missed my books,my mom and also Blake. I thought about how I would have been made to be Jay's toy in order for my sister to have a better husband. As I stepped out of the shower, I prayed to the moon goddess that my pack never finds me. I stood in front of the mirror and decided to comb my hair while I brushed my teeth. After I dressed up,I took the elevator back downstairs and I found Gloria waiting for me in the living room.
"Where is everyone else?" I asked her as I took a seat on one of the couch.
"They are hiding somewhere, waiting for the right time to barge in and bombard you with questions but first thing first we have to call your mom"
"Okay, do I use the land line or your phone"
"The thing is,you can't speak to her directly"
"Wait, why?"
"Your mom thinks your dad would be suspicious of her so he would track and listen in to her call so we decided on a code"
"What kind of code?"
"Let me call her and put her on speaker"
My mom answered the phone on the first ring like she was waiting for the call.
"Hi,it is Gloria"
"Hi, ma'am" I heard my dad ask her to put the phone on speaker so he would know who she was speaking with.
"I just want to thank you for taking care of me and to inform me that I got home safely"
"That's a relief and you don't have to thank me, I did my job"
"You can come visit anytime you want, we have a big medical center here and you can help us"
"Okay, I will think about it,stay safe and take care "
"So I just let her know that you are safe and fine, if you need to say anything to her just come to me and we can sort it out"
"Thank you Gloria, I hope my mom is fine"
"Your dad seems a little suspicious but I am sure it will pass, now let's put some food in you"
Gloria led me to the dinning room and immediately I sat down, people came in and began to sit round the table too. Gloria took a sit at one end of the table and I noticed that the chair at the second end was empty. The servers brought out different dishes and began to lay them on the table, I was surprised at the amount of food on the table wondering where to start from and how the rules worked out here.
I saw everyone wait patiently for Gloria to put food on her plate first before they did the same.
"Nobody ask anything until we are done with eating dinner" Gloria ordered as she saw the curious looks directed my way.
After dinner, we all migrated to the living room and I looked around wondering how Gloria was related to these people. I wondered how long it would take someone to ask me a question and immediately I thought about it a question was directed my way.
"What is your name?" Someone asked me.
"Lauren"
"What pack are you from?" Another person asked and Gloria shut them up with a growl.
"Lauren is now part of this pack and no questions about her former pack, she is a doctor so she would be joining our hospital"
"You are young, how are you a doctor?" A little girl asked me and I looked down to see her sit by my feet.
"I am not that young, I am 21 and my education was really fast"
"So that means you are smart" she declared standing in front of me.
"Well kind of"
"You are smart" She said with a lot of confidence and then she turned to Gloria, "I want her to be my tutor and she can also tutor Ryan since he isn't that smart too" Her words made Gloria and the others laugh.
"Who is Ryan?" I asked her.
