Chapter 1 — A Chance To Be Reborn

The Human Realm
January 31st, 2022
"I'm sorry, but she may not make it tonight. It has spread throughout her brain," the doctor's announcement brought tears to Trinia's eyes as she watched her mother cry. "I sincerely apologize," the doctor said, bowing to Trinia's mother before leaving the ward.
"Oh, my poor baby," Trinia's mother exclaimed, rushing to her side and sitting beside her on the bed. "I'm so sorry it has to end this way. I apologize for not being able to see you become a doctor," Trinia's mother paused, wiping away her tears. "I'm sorry you didn't get to pursue your dream, and..."
"It's okay," Trinia said, taking her mother's hand and placing it on her stomach. Trinia had isolated herself from the outside world since being diagnosed with cancer three years ago. She used to be a vibrant young woman with dreams of becoming a doctor, but her diagnosis of glioblastoma shattered those plans. Trinia had fought with all her strength, undergoing chemotherapy and surgeries, but her fate was sealed, and she was slowly fading away. "All I want is to live like everyone else, and..."
"I'm so sorry, Trinia." Her mother stroked her bald head. "You used to have gorgeous red hair, and it breaks my heart to see you like this!" Her mother sobbed and kissed her on the cheek. "I love you and your brother Scott," Trinia's mother said, motioning for her son to come closer. "We love you, Scott," Trinia's mother said, as she joined her children's hands together. "Trinia, even in death, we will always be a family."
"Is Trinia finally coming home, Mum?" Scott, Trinia's five-year-old brother, asked.
Trinia nodded, blinking away the tears in her eyes.
"I love you, Scott," she opened her arms wide for him to embrace. "I love you," Trinia whispered, finding comfort in her brother's warm hug.
"Don't cry, Trinia," the little boy said. "Since you're coming home soon, I have a few of my toys I want to show you!" He announced happily.
Trinia fought back tears in front of him, forcing a smile. She sighed and turned to her mother. "I adore you, Mum," Trinia declared. "I need to be alone right now," Trinia coughed. "I want to spend my last moments alone," she said quietly.
Trinia's mother burst into tears, quickly wiping them away so as not to make her daughter feel bad. "Scott and I will be standing outside the door. Please call me if you need any assistance, Trinia." Trinia's mother walked towards the door, but Trinia called her back.
"Mum!" she said. "Do you happen to have a pen?"
When Trinia's mother realized what was about to happen, her green eyes widened. Her daughter was about to write her final letter, saying goodbye. "Oh, Trinia," she exclaimed, running to hug her daughter one last time. "I love you, my child," she kissed her forehead before rummaging through her bag to find the pen Trinia needed. When she found it, she handed her the black pen. "Trinia, I love you."
"I love you, Mum," she sniffled, taking the pen from her mother's hand. "Goodbye, Scott!"
"Bye, Trinia! I'll see you at home," Scott said, unaware that it would be the last time they saw each other. Trinia stretched her hand toward the left side of the room, where her book was, and opened it once her mother and brother had left.
"This may be my last chance, so I hope everyone remembers me," Trinia began to write.
To whoever finds this letter, I want to live my dream and see it come true. If there is anyone out there listening, please help me and give me a chance to live. I don't want to be forgotten!
Trinia scribbled a few more words, then attempted to place her book on the table stand beside her bed. However, her hands began to shake, and she screamed. "Mum!" Trinia struggled to breathe, coughing up blood.
Her mother rushed into the room, yelling and vigorously shaking her daughter. "Trinia!" she screamed, pressing the emergency button next to Trinia's bed, hoping the doctors would rush in and save her daughter's life. But when they arrived, they shook their heads sorrowfully at Trinia's mother.
"The time has come for her to go," one of the doctors said.
"No!" Trinia's mother yelled, embracing her daughter tightly. "Trinia!"
Trinia's heart stopped in a fraction of a second, and her soul left her body. She sobbed after her soul left her body and pointed at her lifeless body lying on the bed. "I am truly gone," she cried, staring at her mother, who tightly clutched her lifeless form. "I'm sorry, Mum."
Inside the room, a bright light appeared, visible only to Trinia's soul. She moved towards the light upon hearing a whisper. "A second chance!" the voice whispered. Trinia followed the voice and walked into the light before everything turned dark.

The Werewolf Realm
January 31st, 2022
Vanessa screamed in agony as the whip landed on her back, over and over again. Another lash, and another. Vanessa stifled her screams as the whip tore through her flesh, desperately looking up at her mate, the Alpha King, hoping he would listen to her and alleviate her pain. "I didn't do it!" Vanessa's voice trembled as another whip struck her back. "Ansel!" She called out her mate's name, but all she saw were his glaring golden eyes.
Charged with treason and plotting against the king, Vanessa found herself being punished in front of everyone in the Royal mansion. She was made a scapegoat for something she hadn't done. "I didn't do it," she repeated, blood running down her face as she struggled to keep her eyes open.
Everyone despised her, including her mate, the man she loved. Instead of listening to her, he believed the accusations and subjected her to public humiliation. Vanessa sobbed quietly, wondering what she had done to be hated by everyone, even her closest friend and her mate. "Ansel!" She cried out his name once more.
"Shut up!" one of the security guards yelled at her. "You have no right to call the king's name like that! You, evil witch, deserve to die!" The royal guard added, disdain evident in his eyes.
Vanessa had never been wanted since the day she was born. She was known as the daughter of Felicia, the evil witch who nearly destroyed the world with her obsession with the great pens bestowed upon her by the moon goddess and the witch's goddess. Vanessa became the laughingstock of her clan, despised for being the child of an evil witch. They only kept her alive because of her aunt Anora and her possession of the two pens.
She was always punished, whether she was right or wrong. Since her powers as a pen holder didn't manifest, she was cast out of the clan to live alone in the woods. The only person who visited her was her aunt Nora, until she passed away, leaving Vanessa with no one. Vanessa had once attempted suicide by jumping off a cliff but was saved by a mysterious man who happened to wander into the forest.
"Why do you want to end your life?" the man who saved her asked, and she simply replied, "It hurts!"
"Ending your life will only cause more pain," the man said. "Don't give up. Keep living because there might be someone out there who cares for you." Those words changed Vanessa's perspective on death. "I'll leave now."
"Can you at least tell me your name?" she asked the man who had saved her life, but he didn't respond, and she hadn't seen him since. Until the day the witches' elders visited her and informed her of her arranged marriage to the Alpha King.
"The werewolf clans have proposed a marriage to their Alpha king for the pen holders, even if their powers haven't manifested yet."
"What?" Vanessa couldn't believe the witches could be so heartless as to accept the proposal from the heartless king, a ruthless murderer. "Why do you all despise me so much?"
"You should be grateful that I saved your life instead of letting you die. And remember, once your powers are taken away, I will personally kill you," the witch leaders had threatened her.
Before she knew it, Vanessa was taken to the werewolf realm as the Luna Queen. But upon her arrival, she realized that the man who had saved her life in the woods was none other than the Alpha King himself. Vanessa had hoped he would be kind like the man she had met, but he turned out to be just like everyone else.
He despised her from the moment he discovered her mother's identity. He made her life unbearable. To make matters worse, he refused to acknowledge her as his Luna Queen and kept her as a mere maid in the Royal mansion. The Alpha King refused to accept her until she manifested her powers. Vanessa became Ansel's maidservant because she had no choice but to wait and try to earn the king's favor. Her aunt Anora had always told her that she was a powerful woman, but Vanessa believed she should have never been born.
After enduring more lashes, the punishment finally ended. Ansel stood up and walked away, leaving Vanessa released and dragged back to her room. She found herself on the ground, bleeding and in pain. "Why me?" Tears streamed down her face as she recalled the torment she had experienced since arriving at the Royal mansion. "I need to put an end to this!" Vanessa crawled over to her desk and grabbed her diary, where she documented her emotions. She took out one of her many pens and began to write down her feelings at that moment.
I want to die and never be reborn. Life is filled with endless misfortunes, and mine never ceases. If I were given a chance to be reborn, I would refuse, for living is hell for me.
Vanessa finished writing and scanned her table for any sharp objects. She eventually found a pair of scissors. "If I had the powers, maybe they would respect me. But no one wants me, so goodbye," she slit her right wrist and groaned in pain as blood spilled out. Vanessa screamed in agony, collapsing to the ground as the blood continued to flow. She coughed up blood and exclaimed, "Never to be reborn again," as she took her final breath and everything faded to black.
Her soul, like Trinia's, departed from her body and stood beside it. "Never again!" she cried, gazing at her lifeless form. Then, a bright light appeared, accompanied by a soft voice whispering through the light. "A chance to start anew!" the voice murmured.
Vanessa shifted her gaze to the light and approached it. "A chance to start anew!" She walked into the light, and everything turned dark.

Chapter 2 — Who Am I?

She fluttered open her eyes and realized she was lying on the ground. Struggling in agony, she attempted to get up. "Where am I?" Trinia was bewildered as she surveyed her surroundings. "Am I in heaven?" She shook her head, realizing that heaven couldn't possibly be as grim as the room she found herself in. It was too small, with just a small bed and nothing else. "What on earth happened, and where am I?" Trinia questioned herself, raising her hand and noticing her bleeding wrist. "I would never cut myself!" she exclaimed, searching the room for a mirror and spotting a door on the left side. "Mom, Scott!" Trinia called out and walked towards the door, opening it to reveal a bathroom.
Trinia entered the bathroom and sighed with relief upon seeing a mirror. However, when she looked into it, she screamed and covered her face.
A stranger stared back at her. Trinia realized that she now had long, dark hair instead of her sickly bald head. "How is this possible?" She turned away from the mirror for a moment, then looked back, only to find that she hadn't transformed back into her previous bald self. "How am I still alive?" Trinia screamed, turning on the water and washing her face vigorously, hoping it was all just a dream. "I shouldn't be alive," she slapped herself across the face. "Isn't this supposed to be heaven?"
"Where has she gone?" A deep, hoarse voice could be heard outside the bathroom. "Vanessa!" The voice called out.
Trinia's attention turned to the door as she wondered who Vanessa was. She cautiously made her way toward the entrance of the bathroom, unsure of who was on the other side. However, before she could catch a glimpse, she lost her balance and stumbled out of the bathroom. "Ouch! This is even worse than my death!" she screamed in pain, lifting her head as she heard footsteps approaching her. The first thing she noticed was a man with golden eyes and long silver hair, dressed in a black cloak that revealed his bare chest and black trousers.
"What are you doing lying on the floor?" Trinia blinked twice as she heard Ansel's deep voice. She kept staring at Ansel, wondering how such a strikingly handsome man could have such a bad attitude. But Trinia had more pressing thoughts on her mind.
How in the world did she end up in someone else's body? She pondered as she gazed at him.
"Get off the ground, you..." He began to curse at her, but the way she looked at him made him immediately stop, not expecting his despised mate to meet his gaze. "Are you looking me in the eyes now?" Ansel glared at her.
Trinia was taken aback by the growling in his voice and quickly stood up from the ground. "May I ask who you are?"
Ansel's eyes widened, thinking he had misheard. "Are you out of your mind?" He grabbed Trinia's hand and yelled at her. "I thought the whipping would have woken you up, but it seems like you've lost your senses!"
"Lost my senses!" Trinia chuckled, perplexed as to why such a handsome man like Ansel would have such a terrible attitude. The way he talked down to her made her wonder if they knew each other from somewhere. She remembered that she had never been close to any man when she was still herself, not someone else. "Mr...?" Trinia paused, yanking her hand from Ansel's grasp. "I have no idea who you are, and I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up in this person's body. And you..." As Ansel raised his hand as if to slap Trinia, she interrupted. "I will press charges for attempted assault!" she yelled at him.
Ansel never expected Vanessa to speak to him in such a manner since they had become mates years ago. He looked at her and touched her head, searching for any signs of injury, but instead, he noticed the slit on her wrist. "Did you try to kill yourself?" He took her hand in his and examined it carefully. "How dare the royal queen attempt suicide!"
"I..." Trinia tried to explain herself to Ansel, most likely to tell him that the body didn't belong to her. However, she didn't know how to do so without sounding insane. How could she explain that she was supposed to die but miraculously survived, finding herself inside someone else's body?
How is this even possible? She wondered.
"Did you try to take your own life?" Ansel demanded, not out of concern but rather because Vanessa had attempted suicide without dying by his hand. His hatred towards her stemmed from her being the daughter of an evil witch.
"I didn't attempt suicide because I died!" Trinia blurted out, not caring if she sounded insane. "I should be dead, but I'm here, alive, and my family is probably looking for me once they realize I'm gone."
Ansel looked at her, then chuckled. He pulled her closer until their chests touched. "I don't know why you're behaving this way, but you need to compose yourself. We have a meeting with your clans."
"What about my clans? What on earth are you talking about? And I must say, you're rude to someone I don't know well!"
Ansel tightened his grip on her wrist and opened his mouth to speak, but two individuals entered the room. They were both men dressed in blue cloaks with masks covering their faces. Trinia's mind harkened back to her high school days when her friends talked about magicians that no one believed in. "All of you!" Trinia yelled and pushed Ansel in the chest. Although her push did not affect him, Trinia managed to free her hand from his grip and balled her fists, holding them up for all to see. "What have you done to my body to make me like this, huh? How am I still alive when I should be dead?" She screamed at Ansel.
"Your Majesty!" One of the security guards yelled at her. "Remember, you're speaking to the Alpha King. Be cautious in your words."
Trinia laughed. "The Alpha King? Is that the new trick the magicians have learned?" She laughed and threw a punch at Ansel, who deftly dodged it. "I'm good at fighting, and I don't think you're ready for my wrath just yet! Let me leave right now!"
"Your Majesty!" The guards called out her name once again.
"Don't yell at me!" Trinia screamed back. "You have no right to tell me what to do!"
"What audacity!" Ansel's voice deepened as he stepped closer to Trinia. "How dare you open your mouth in front of me, huh?"
"Stop acting like a king!"
"I am the king!" Ansel declared.
Trinia burst into laughter. "And I am the queen," she joked, unaware that she had unknowingly spoken the truth. Trinia pointed to herself and then to Ansel when no one said anything. "I'm the queen, right?" She questioned, receiving no response, which only made her laugh harder. "How did I go from dying to becoming a queen, huh?" Trinia shouted at Ansel, pointing at the two men in between them. "Did you kidnap me? I'll find you and have you arrested!" Trinia pointed her finger at them. "Don't bother following me!" With that, she turned and attempted to enter the bathroom, but her face collided with the door, causing her to collapse to the ground, groaning in pain. "Ouch! That hurt!"
Ansel walked towards her and stood in front of her. "I don't know why you're acting this way, but remember, I am..." He crouched down to her level. "I am the king, and I won't tolerate disrespect. Once the meeting with the witches and werewolves is over, I will punish you!"
"I'll be punished? Are you even a real king?" Trinia asked, but instead of responding, Ansel stood up and kicked her hand away.
"For now, I'll spare your hands, but touch me again, and I'll sever them!" He threatened before turning to leave. "Bring the maidservant to help her prepare for the meeting!" He motioned for his guards to leave the room.
Trinia stood up from the ground, pointing at the two guards who were watching her. "I'll just go to the bathroom then," she said, scratching the back of her head and entering. She hurriedly made her way to the sink and washed her face twice. "No!" she exclaimed. "This can't be real!" She slapped her face. "Who the hell am I?" She gasped and placed her hand on her reflection in the mirror. "How the hell did I survive?" she wondered.
If someone had told Trinia that she would end up in someone else's body, she would have considered them crazy. She had no idea how to explain what had happened to her. "Who the hell are you?" she spoke to her reflection. "And who am I?"

Chapter 3 — Escaping

Trinia stepped out of the bathroom, finally concluding a long thirty minutes of being inside. As she entered the room, she was taken aback to find a line of maidservants waiting for her. Startled, she counted them and realized there were ten, each with their heads bowed respectfully. Their identical attire, a flowery gown, and bun-styled hair, caught her attention. Confused and questioning her surroundings, Trinia couldn't help but wonder where she was.
"Where on earth am I?" Trinia muttered to herself, her voice laced with astonishment.
"Your Highness!" The maidservants chimed in unison, causing Trinia to step back in surprise.
"Erm," she scratched the back of her head, struggling to comprehend what she was witnessing. The idea of body-switching seemed absurd until it happened to her. Trinia felt like she was dreaming, still grappling with the reality of the situation. "Am I a queen?" she pondered, shaking her head in disbelief. "But a queen wouldn't be dressed in this tattered gown." Trinia pointed to her stained and soiled white dress, expressing her doubts about her new role. "I see what's going on here!" she exclaimed, laughter mingling with her words as she approached the maidservants. "You're staging a show and using me as an experiment, right?" Trinia queried with a disapproving tut. She then scanned the room, searching for any signs of hidden cameras. Her gaze landed on two men who had accompanied the self-proclaimed king with the grumpy golden eyes, Ansel. Quickly averting her eyes from his intense gaze, Trinia cleared her throat.
"Your Highness," the two men bowed their heads respectfully. "The king has instructed the maidservants to prepare you for the meeting with both clans and you..."
"Hold on a second," Trinia interrupted. "Could you please tell me where I am?" The men exchanged glances, remaining silent as they stared at her intently. "So, that disrespectful man was the king, and I am supposed to be the queen?" Trinia questioned, seeking confirmation.
"Yes, Your Highness," they all responded in unison.
"Is this some kind of joke?" Trinia shouted at them, her frustration mounting. "I don't know any of you, and I can't believe I've traveled back in time to the 17th century, where I'm expected to be the wife of that disrespectful man." Trinia ruffled her hair, grumbling to herself. "This can't be possible. Even the greatest physicists never claimed time travel was real; it was always just an assumption. And even if time travel does exist, what has happened to my real body?" Trinia placed her hands on her head and let out a scream. "What in the world has happened to me?"
Alarmed, the men rushed toward her, concerned that something had gone wrong. However, upon seeing her bewildered expression, they exchanged glances, wondering if their Luna Queen had lost her sanity. Trinia was known for being calm and easygoing, making her current behavior all the more perplexing. "Are you alright, Your Highness?" they asked, their voices laced with worry.
Trinia shook her head and looked at the men. "Come closer, you guys," she whispered urgently, but none of them responded.
"Your Highness, the king requires your presence in the throne room in thirty minutes, and you're wasting time," one of the men informed her, motioning for a maidservant to assist the queen in getting ready.
"Yeah, yeah!" the maidservants chorused, moving closer to Trinia.
"Wait!" Trinia shouted, and they all froze in their tracks. She scratched the back of her head and walked towards the door. "I need to take a deep breath and..." Trinia inhaled deeply, composing herself. "I need to get out of here!" Trinia shouted, running out of the room.
"Your Highness!" they all called out, following her.
"There's no way I'm staying in this godforsaken place," Trinia muttered to herself as she sprinted down a seemingly endless hallway until reaching a dead end with two turns. "Why is this place so enormous?" she exclaimed, briefly glancing behind her to see the two masked men and the maidservants closing in. "I need to find a way out!" Taking a left turn, she dashed as fast as her legs could carry her, only to be met with yet another long hallway filled with closed doors. "What should I do?" Trinia cleared her throat as she reached the end of the hallway, spotting a golden door. Feeling trapped, she bit her lower lip, desperately searching for an escape route. Trinia turned back, noticing the approaching footsteps. With a surge of determination, she pushed open the door, using her body to create enough momentum. Triumphantly, she laughed, thinking she had eluded them. But her laughter faded when she realized she had entered a room occupied by several people, all eyes fixed upon her. Two guards stood at the entrance, and approximately ten individuals were seated on each side of the room, with Ansel positioned at the center.
"Mr. Golden Eyes!" Trinia pointed at Ansel, inching closer to him. Upon reaching the center of the room, she noticed ten people murmuring and pointing fingers at her. "Is this some kind of group thing?" she asked, suspicion creeping into her voice. "Are you all part of a gang that's planning to sell my organs?" Trinia demanded, her eyes narrowing.
"What on earth are you saying, Your Highness?" one of the elders from the witch's clans shouted, taken aback by her outburst.
"Has she gone mad?" questioned another elder.
"Yes!" Trinia retorted, her frustration evident. "I have gone mad because all of you have conspired against me!" Trinia pointed at Ansel. "You're the Don, right? The underground boss?"
"My Queen," Ansel called out, his voice tinged with concern. "What on earth are you doing? Why are you dressed like that and disrupting the meeting?" His words were strained through gritted teeth, attempting to maintain composure.
Trinia cleared her throat and shrugged. "I think I've entered the wrong room," she bowed her head and swiftly made her way toward the door.
"Stop her!" Ansel commanded the guards, bewildered by her peculiar behavior. The last time they spoke, Vanessa couldn't even lift her head to look at him, and she had been timid and slow in her actions.
"Let me leave this place!" Trinia shouted at the guards, futilely attempting to push past them. "Let me go now!" She screamed, turning her attention back to everyone in the room. They were all standing now, except for one person who remained seated, his gaze locked on Trinia. Ansel moved between them, heading towards Trinia, leaving her with a decision to make.
She needed to escape and find her family. Understanding why she was trapped inside someone else's body was crucial, and there was no scientific explanation for such an occurrence. Escaping was the only way to uncover the truth. "What should I do?" Trinia bit her lip as Ansel approached her slowly. She swiftly turned to face the guards and grinned"A perfect idea," she whispered to herself. With agility, Trinia slid under the guards and used her body to push open the door, a triumphant smile spreading across her face. She laughed as she made her daring escape, but her elation was short-lived when she found herself face-to-face with the two masked men and the kneeling maidservants blocking her path. Frustrated, she yelled, "What now?" Casting a glance behind her, she realized her options were limited.
"Don't let her get away!" Ansel's voice commanded from behind.
"I don't think you can catch me!" Trinia retorted, determination burning in her eyes. Taking a deep breath, she braced herself. "I can do this!" With a burst of energy, she leaped, defying gravity, much to the astonishment of everyone present. Skillfully, she hopped onto the first maid's back, struggling to maintain her balance. Undeterred, she continued leaping from one maid to another until she reached the last one. Apologetic, she whispered a quick sorry before jumping off her back, her focus now fixed on Ansel. "Goodbye!" she called out, a mischievous laugh escaping her lips, as she took a sharp turn to the right, heading out of the mansion.
"Your Highness, what should we do?" the guards asked Ansel, their confusion evident.
"Stay out of this," Ansel replied dismissively. "I'll handle her myself." He clenched his fists tightly, his anger mounting. "How dare she mock me in front of everyone?"
"I believe our mate is becoming stronger," Klaus, his wolf, whispered in his mind.
"Shut up!" Ansel snapped, transferring his aggression to his inner voice. He blocked out the connection, seething with frustration. "There must be a reason behind her behavior," he muttered, determined to uncover the truth.
