Chapter 1 — Nine Cubs

From Bethany Moore's POV:
Early in the morning, I opened my eyes and was startled by the naked man sleeping beside me.
He was the Alpha of the Aruna pack, the most powerful and ruthless in decades, and also the youngest.
And I, Bethany Moore, was a slave in the Aruna pack, lower than even an Omega. I had no family, no friends. The only things I had in my life were endless whippings and insults.
But now, someone like me was lying in the same bed as the mighty Alpha, both of us naked.
"Oh…" I clutched my throbbing head as a flood of memories threatened to drown me.
I remembered everything!
Last night, I begged like a desperate woman for the Alpha to penetrate me with his penis again and again, fast and hard.
The room was dark. I couldn't see his face. All I could feel was his size and heat.
His mouth passionately kissed every part of my body, leading me to ecstasy I had never experienced before.
"Oh no…"
As the passion faded, all that remained was fear, crashing over me like waves.
When he wakes up and sees me, I'm sure I'll face the cruelest punishment.
In the Aruna pack, anyone could insult or beat me at will. At first, I tried to resist, but it only led to harsher punishments. They would drag me to the back mountain, tie me to a tree, strip off my top, and whip me brutally just because I had spilled a few drops of water while serving them.
The rough whip struck my chest, and I screamed in agony. But instead of stopping, they grew more excited. No one helped me until several of my ribs were broken.
I didn't have an inner wolf, and my healing was weak. Yet, the next day, covered in wounds, I had to continue washing their clothes and cooking their meals without rest. Other Omega slaves told me that female werewolves like us would live miserable lives, like worthless mud.
Last night, the Alpha returned victorious from battle and, unusually, allowed even the slaves to drink wine as a reward. I drank heavily, trying to numb my pain.
I didn't know how I ended up here or why I had slept with the Alpha. I'd heard that once, a female werewolf tried to drug and seduce him, and he demoted her to a slave and sent her to the barracks to be used by the soldiers.
A cruel man like him was capable of anything. I couldn't even bear to imagine it. Being thrown into the barracks would be a fate worse than death. I couldn't stay here. I have to get out!
Before he woke up, I quickly got out of bed and tried to leave.
But as soon as I stepped out of the room, a large hand covered my mouth and nose. Everything went black.
When I woke up, I was on a yacht. Sitting before me was Sherry Lawson, the cheerleading captain at school and the Beta's daughter in the Aruna pack. She had always openly pursued Alpha Christian Neuman.
Seeing her, a sense of foreboding rose in my heart.
The next second, my hair was yanked harshly.
"Ah!" I cried out in pain, forced to tilt my head back. "Ms. Sherry, what are you doing? I haven't offended you. Why did you bring me here?"
"You b*tch! How dare you sleep with Christian!" Sherry's delicate face was twisted with jealousy. "I spent so much time planning and finally gave Christian the drug tonight, but you, a slave, ruined everything! His penis was supposed to be inside me, not a disgusting slave like you!"
"I..."
"Throw her overboard for the fish!" Sherry shouted.
Looking at the churning sea beside the bed, my face turned pale. "It was a mistake! The Alpha and I..."
Consumed by jealousy, Sherry had lost all reason. She commanded the guards, "Do it now!"
"Yes, Ms. Sherry."
"No, you can't! Let me go! Ah!"
With a loud splash, I was thrown into the raging waves.
Seven Months Later.
In the impoverished Devroop pack, inside a dilapidated house at the northernmost edge, I lay pale and weak on a broken wooden bed, helplessly watching as the children beside me were taken away one by one.
"My babies, my children... Ah!"
"Hurry, there are more!" A woman nearby, her eyes filled with greed, urged on.
I couldn't hold on any longer and passed out.
When I woke up again, it was already the next day.
Bang!
The door was flung open, and Lily Yates walked in, looking down at me from above. "Bethany, I can't believe it. You actually gave birth to nine cubs. That's unheard of…"
I was so weak. I had no inner wolf, so my self-healing was poor to begin with. And after giving birth to nine cubs at once, I was utterly drained.
"My children! Where are they?" Forcing myself upright despite my weakness, I grabbed Lily's hand and cried out in desperation.
Nine months ago, Lily's parents had pulled me from the sea.
And from that moment, my nightmare began.
They chained me to the bed with heavy iron locks. I couldn't leave, everything I did—eating, drinking, even relieving myself—was confined to that spot.
The Devroop pack was far from the Aruna pack, so I couldn't use the mind-link to contact anyone. I was alone.
Lily shook me off in disgust. "Your cubs have already been sold."
"How could you do that?"
"Why not? If we don't sell them, my dad will sell me instead, to give birth to cubs for some old werewolf who lost his mate! Devroop pack is too poor. Every family lives this way!"
Lily crouched down beside me, slapping my face hard. "At least you're useful. You gave birth to nine cubs in one go. Even though the weakest two didn't make it, the remaining seven still brought a decent price."
Didn't make it? That's impossible! I clearly heard them crying. Just yesterday, they were fine. They were just a little weak.
"Give them back to me!" I lowered my head and slammed it into Lily.
Caught off guard, she fell hard to the ground.
The pain from her fall instantly enraged her. She grabbed a stick nearby and began beating me.
"How dare you attack me!"
I curled up, shielding my head, trying to dodge, but there was no escape.
Before long, I collapsed to the ground.
Before I lost consciousness, I heard her calling for others.
"Take her to the back mountain and dump her there!"

Chapter 2 — The Whereabouts

From Bethany's POV:
Seven Years Later.
The Moonlit Grand Hotel, shining with gold and splendor, was surrounded by media reporters and countless frenzied fans.
Today was the day that movie star Lilian Yates signed her contract with Starlings Media.
Lilian was Lily, the vicious female werewolf who sold my children.
She had changed her name, left the Devroop pack, and integrated into human society, hiding her true identity and becoming a rising star. If all of this hadn't been built on the foundation of tormenting me, I would admire her courage.
I sat in the back of a black sedan, adjusting my cap, and turned to look at my son, Connor Moore. "Take good care of Chloe. I will be back soon."
The cool little boy in the backseat lifted his head when he heard my words. "Are you sure you can handle this alone?"
"Are you doubting my abilities, Connor?"
"Don't you bully Mommy!" My youngest daughter, Chloe Moore, angrily slapped Connor.
Connor frowned. "Which eye of yours saw me bullying Mommy? I'm just worried about her, okay?"
"Worrying doesn't help. Mommy is the best, she'll definitely succeed. I am cheering for you, Mommy!" After speaking, Chloe kissed me on the cheek and cheered me on.
I patted Chloe's head. "Chloe, you're the sweetest."
Years ago, after I was beaten and covered in wounds, I was thrown onto the back mountain at the village's edge. I found Connor and Chloe there, both near death.
The weather was cold, and I held them tightly in my arms, trying to warm them.
I failed. My limbs began to stiffen, and I thought we were going to die there in misery until a passing wizard saved us.
We survived, but my body suffered severe damage.
I spent years recovering, but I never stopped searching for my other children.
Seven years later, I finally found Lily. Today, I would make her tell me the whereabouts of my cubs!
Suppressing the fury inside me, I got out of the car and entered the hotel.
The signing ceremony had already started. Starlings Media had invited top-tier media from the country to make a big splash by promoting Lilian from the very beginning.
Lilian posed confidently under the spotlight, radiating with self-assurance.
Suddenly, she clutched her stomach, and I heard her assistant ask her what was wrong.
"I'm feeling some pain in my stomach. I'll go to the bathroom," she said, hurriedly heading towards the restroom while holding her belly.
I quietly followed her, locking the restroom door behind us.
The sound of the door locking startled Lily, and she turned, angrily pointing at me. "Who are you? Who let you in?"
"Lily, did you really think that just because you changed your name, I wouldn't find you?" I stepped forward, taking off my cap.
"You... You're Bethany? What do you want?" Lily shook in fear.
"Tell me, where are my children?" I demanded, my face full of rage.
Lily had been enjoying smooth success these past few years and had never faced such humiliation. She refused and shouted defiantly, "If you're so capable, go find them yourself! You're just an Omega with no inner wolf. Do you really think I'm afraid of you?"
"Is that so?" I sneered, watching Lily's expression turn increasingly pained. "It hurts, doesn't it?"
"Is it you?" Lily stared at me in shock.
I nodded. "Yes. While your assistant wasn't paying attention, I put some wolfsbane in your drink. Soon, you'll uncontrollably shift into wolf form."
"How dare you!"
Lily's face twisted, her eyes gradually turning red as she was about to shift.
I ignored her pain. "If you don't want your identity to be exposed, if you still want to continue being a big star, then tell me where my children are! As long as you tell me, I'll give you Silverherb Elixir to ease your pain."
Lily glared at me with hatred, growling under her breath.
"Your time's running out," I reminded her.
"Fine! I'll tell you!" Lily finally begged.
I knew I would succeed. She had fought hard to get to where she was, she wouldn't want to ruin everything now.
I watched her as she said, "The eighth cub was too weak. Bonnie took her back, and I left her at the Rainale Welfare Home. The rest were taken by Bonnie."
"Bonnie Burke?" The werewolf trafficker wanted by many packs? The rumors say she's ruthless, trafficking countless werewolf cubs.
It seemed Lily wasn't lying.
"I'll trust you for now. But if I find out you're lying, you'll regret it!" I tossed the Silverherb Elixir into the toilet and left. If she wanted to drink it, she could fish it out herself.
As I entered the lobby, I brushed past two figures, one tall and one small.
"Daddy, it's so boring here. I want to go home."
"Just hang in there, we'll leave soon."
I froze in my tracks.
When I turned around, the tall, handsome man had already disappeared around the corner, holding the masked little girl's hand.
Christian? The Alpha who ended up in bed with me by mistake...
In the next moment, I heard my inner wolf, Sage, howling, "Mate! He's our mate!"

Chapter 3 — My Daughter

From Bethany's POV:
Three years ago, I awakened my inner wolf. Her name was Sage.
She was powerful, granting me immense strength in combat and rapid healing abilities. My body quickly recovered. Afterward, I underwent rigorous training and traveled to many places before finally returning to the Aruna pack.
Now, I belatedly realized the undeniable pull I felt toward Christian.
It became clear to me that he was my mate.
Over the years, though I hadn't intentionally sought out information about him, rumors about him still flooded the streets.
People said he was a top-tier Alpha among werewolves. In less than seven years, he had transformed the once-weak Aruna pack into the most formidable werewolf pack in the Northern Region. Some even speculated he was destined to be the next Alpha King.
Yet, despite his achievements, he hadn't found his mate. But he already had a daughter.
"Catch up to him!" Sage demanded excitedly.
"No." I quickly regained my composure.
"Why not?" Sage was utterly baffled.
"I don't need to. If I'm with him, I'll become the Luna of the Aruna pack. That means I won't be able to leave the pack freely, and I don't want that," I replied calmly.
In Aruna pack tradition, the Luna was expected to be kind and dignified, as a symbol of luck placed on a pedestal. Aside from maintaining a favorable public image, she wasn't permitted to do much else.
The men in the pack believed women were too emotional to handle important matters.
"I'm a mom who lost her children. I have to find them. I'm also someone who repays every grudge. I need to personally make those who wronged me pay, not sit around as Luna and be her supposed kindness. I refuse to be shackled."
I didn't trust men, either. If they were reliable, my dad wouldn't have abandoned my mom, leaving her to die of illness and me to become the most wretched slave.
Fortunately, before returning to the Aruna pack, I had taken a special potion from my savior that allowed my inner wolf to remain hidden, undetected by other werewolves. The potion also concealed my scent.
I was safe.
Back in the car, Connor immediately asked, "Mommy, are we going to Rainale Welfare Home now?"
I glanced at him. "Did you hack into the hotel's surveillance system again just now?"
Connor had an extraordinary gift for technology. I'd watched him deftly navigate a tablet, his small hands flying over the screen as he worked through lines of intricate, dizzying code.
He tried to justify himself. "I was worried about you, Mommy."
Chloe chimed in to defend him. "Mommy, Connor said you're so brave! Are we going to find our other siblings soon?"
Hiding the sorrow in my heart, I smiled and reassured them. "Yes, I will find them soon."
Four hours later, my car pulled up to the gates of Rainale Welfare Home.
Many werewolf packs had welfare homes that took in orphaned cubs. The adoption process was similar to those in human society.
I sat in the car, staring at the tightly shut gates of the home, too hesitant to step out and knock.
Years ago, I gave birth to nine cubs at Lily's house.
Nine cubs were a rarity in this world. I'd delivered them prematurely, and their vital signs were weak. Yet, under such harsh conditions, they had miraculously survived.
Out of the nine, the first six were boys. Although Connor was the eldest, he was the most fragile at the time.
The last three were identical triplet girls.
Chloe was the youngest, weighing less than two pounds at birth.
The other two girls, the seventh and eighth cubs, were in slightly better condition than Chloe, but they were still far from being as healthy as full-term cubs.
Is my eighth baby girl still alive? Lily said she was in such poor condition that even Bonnie didn't want her. Connor and Chloe pulled through after a month of intensive care, but my eighth baby was left here at this welfare home with no family to look after her. Could she have survived?
I closed my eyes and leaned back against the seat, the pain weighing heavily on me.
Chloe crawled over and patted my face. "Mommy, what's wrong? Weren't we going to look for Sister Eight?"
Connor quickly pulled Chloe aside. "Don't talk, Chloe. Mommy's just feeling a little nervous!"
"Nervous? Why?" Chloe asked innocently, her eyes wide.
Connor sighed and shook his head, then patiently explained, "Because we don't know if Sister Eight is still alive, if she's still at the welfare home, or how she's been all these years. Mommy's afraid to go in, scared she'll be disappointed."
After finishing, Connor placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Mommy, no matter what we find, Chloe and I are here with you."
Looking at my thoughtful son, I took a deep breath and stepped out of the car. "Connor, you're right. No matter the outcome, I have to face it."
We approached the director and explained why we were there.
The director hesitated for a moment when he saw Chloe, then said, "There was a little girl at the welfare home who resembled your daughter in both age and appearance."
"Really? Where is she?" I asked excitedly.
The director's expression turned regretful. "Three years ago, a woman adopted Belle."
"Belle?"
"Yes, the girl's name was Belle."
"Madam, could you tell us who adopted her?" I asked, my heart both aching and hopeful.
The director looked uneasy. "That's private information. I'm sorry, but I can't disclose it."
No matter how much I pleaded, she refused to reveal who had adopted Belle.
As night fell, I had no choice but to take Connor and Chloe home.
The moment we got back, Connor picked up the phone and dialed a number with practiced ease. "Mr. Mike, please investigate Rainale Welfare Home and find out who adopted a little girl named Belle three years ago. I just hacked their website but couldn't find anything."
I glared at my son and grabbed the phone. "Hello, Mike? This is Bethany. Connor tried hacking the welfare home's website and found nothing. Please look into it as soon as possible."
"Got it. Don't worry, I'll have an answer for you by morning," Mike Davis replied.
Mike was my savior's younger brother and a skilled wizard who had helped me countless times. Together, we ran a security firm staffed with private investigators. They took on paying clients but occasionally helped source rare herbs for my savior.
After hanging up, I turned to Connor with a sigh. "Who told you to beat me to call Mr. Mike?"
How can a child be this clever? At his age, he's already outsmarting me in both intelligence and skill.
But then I thought about his father, Alpha Christian, and it all made sense.
Seeing me upset, Connor trotted over on his short legs and hugged my leg. "I just wanted to help, Mommy. You're working so hard. Don't be mad, okay?"
His soft, sweet voice melted my heart instantly.
I bent down and picked him up. "Connor, you really are my thoughtful little one."
Not to be left out, Chloe ran over, tugging at my arm. "Mommy, give me a hug too!"
I knelt and wrapped both my children in my arms, feeling nothing but pure happiness.
The next morning, Mike called me back.
"Bethany, I found the information. The woman who adopted Belle three years ago is named Sherry Lawson."
"Sherry Lawson?" I froze in shock.
Isn't Sherry the same woman who hurt me all those years ago? Why would she adopt Belle?
