Lsabella's Pov:
The age of 18 is the most anticipated birthday for all werewolves because on this day, we will know who our mate is. However, no one would have expected that such a wonderful day would turn into a nightmare. If anyone had told me my whole life would change within a minute I would have never believed.
I had walked in on my boyfriend betraying me with Evelyn on my birthday.
“Fuck,” "Evelyn, you taste so good!”. I heard a moan, causing me to stop as I frowned. Trying to make out the voices I was hearing. The voices sounded really familiar, but I didn't want to believe what I was hearing.
“Slow down, Lucian,”. A female moans out.
Lucian? Is there two Lucian in the pack? Even if there were two, why the hell would they be doing in my treehouse?
What the hell was going on!? Was I hallucinating or were my ears failing me? Am I in the wrong room?
I looked around again, everything was still the way I decorated it. Only Lucian and I know of this place, I didn’t even tell my best friend, Evelyn about it. Lucian and I had been planning my birthday for a week now. Judging from my dream of becoming an architect, he had found this treehouse for me to design so we can spend my birthday here alone.
"What do you mean I should slow down? We have to get this done before she comes in,". I heard the male voice again. The male voice, whom I didn’t want to believe was Lucian, said and then they giggled, followed by the sound of kissing filling the air, before it slowly turned to moaning.
"I know, I know, but we can't rush this. I want to feel every inch of you. I want you to make me feel good". the female voice whispered, her tone husky and intimate.
get what done? What are they rushing into? Who's inside?
I felt a pang of discomfort and shock at the sound of the kissing. Who was Lucian with? And what were they trying to get done?
I didn't want to believe that Lucian was involved in something shady, but the conversation I was overhearing didn't sound good. I moved closer to the door. Without hesitation, I barged in.
My eyes almost popped out of their sockets when I found them entangled in my bed– the bed I had covered with new, silk sheets.
Evelyn was beneath Lucian, grinding her hips against him while moaning into his mouth, his fingers wrapped around her neck, pulling her closer.
A sharp pain coursed through my heart, like it had been ripped out of my body. I gasped a little, squeezing my chest in pain, unable to breathe.
"What's going on here?" I asked loudly, my voice filled with pain and disgust.
My voice brought them down from their high almost immediately.
Lucian, my Lucian, and her - my best friend, Evelyn, I found them together in the treehouse that Lucian and I built together on my birthday. The treehouse we had spent hours building specially for my birthday.
The world seemed to stop, and everything vanished except for the scene in front of me.
I felt a sharp, stabbing pain in my chest, as if my heart was being torn apart. This was the feeling of the mate bond. He is mine... Lucian is my mate. When I prayed to the moon goddess. I didn't pray for this.
"Isabella...? What are you doing here?" Evelyn stuttered and hurriedly covered herself with the blanket that Lucian helped me make when we were building the bed.
“What am I doing here?”. I forced myself to respond as I stared at them in disbelief, the fact they didn’t try to act surprised or felt remorse for what they just did.
My boyfriend - mate, Lucian stood up, and walked towards me. His eyes were filled with pride - without a hint of remorse. Instead, he seemed annoyed that I barged in without notice.
Tears blurred my vision, and a huge lump got stuck in my throat. I looked up at the man I loved with all my heart.
"How could you... do this to me?" I whispered, my voice breaking.
What have the two people I love the most done behind my back? Lucian's lips curled into a sneer. Standing in front of me was a dangerous person I didn't recognize.
“Why? Why?!”.
"Did you really think all of this was real?." he jeered, his voice full of contempt.
"You're delusional, Isabella. I am an alpha, why would I want you as my Luna? You’re even worse than an omega!”.
His words pierced me, each one sharper than a dagger, and I felt the colour drain from my face.
He grasped a fistful of my hair, his grip tight but not painful, and pulled me closer. His hot breath danced across my skin, sending shivers down my spine. His whisper was laced with menace and intimacy.
"A werewolf without their wolf is no less than a human, do you really think I will accept someone like you as my mate? You are of no use to me." he growled, his voice low and husky.
"You - you don't mean that." I retorted, staring into his eyes, hoping that what he said was all lies.
"You're just a pastime, Isabella. A toy to kill time. Don't think of yourself as so important. No one cares about you."
I could feel my heart breaking, the pain almost unbearable, but Lucian didn't stop.
Evelyn wrapped her arms around his back, pressing herself tightly against him.
"Lucian," she called, her voice full of hypocrisy:
"Isabella, don't blame Lucian. It's all my fault."
"Please - please stop talking..." I whispered.
Lucian leaned close to me, his hot breath on my ear.
"It's time to wake up, Isabella. You mean nothing to me. Never have, never will." He growled.
He straightened up, his face expressionless. Evelyn held him tighter, and she looked at me with crocodile tears in her eyes.
"We didn't want to hurt you, Isabella. But sometimes, the truth is painful. You should know your place. You don't have a wolf inside you. Lucian is the alpha. His mate can't be a loser like you, he needs someone like me."
"Evelyn!" I shouted, turning to her with tears in my eyes.
"This is almost ironic. I remember you were the one who needed saving. I was the one who found you and protected you." I wiped the tears off my face.

Lsabella's Pov.
"Damn it, I risked everything - everything, Evelyn! Just to - just to help you, and even lost my wolf in the process and yet…..". I trailed off, my glance shifting between her and Lucian.
“This is how you repay the favour?..”. My voice broke.
Evelyn turned her head away, avoiding my gaze. I looked up at Lucian, who has always been the embodiment of cold contempt, and he sneered at me.
"You have wasted much of my precious time, you unworthy thing. I will no longer have any of your rubbish!" His eyes were filled with anger. "Guards!" He growled
“What gua…” I was grabbed before I could process my thoughts. Before I could react, the guards had already come behind me, and I was dragged away like a prisoner.
******
If anyone told me it would only take one day for my life to take a dramatic turn, I would have called them a liar. All of this still felt like a dream. I was taken outside the tribe by Lucian’s beta. I didn't even have time to pack my things and was deported just like that, not minding the fact that it’s very dark now.
"Make sure you don't get hurt out there, take care." Chris, Lucian’s best friend and Beta, said with a smile before sending me out of the forest. It's ironic and humiliating that although it was his Alpha who caused my deportation, he still escorted me to the border.
I know that leaving was inevitable. I couldn't bear the betrayal of the two people I loved, and I couldn't continue to live in the same place with them after their betrayal. Even if Lucian didn't drive me away, I would leave by myself.
I stood before the familiar facade, memories flooding my mind. This was where it all began - where Lucian first found Evelyn and me, battered and broken. I had saved her, and in doing so, found my own salvation.
For me, it was love at first sight - the kind that shakes your very foundations. Lucian's strong jaw, piercing eyes, and chiselled features had captivated me.
He took us in, offering a refuge from the darkness.
A home. A sense of belonging. But now, the same man who had sheltered us was driving me away. Chasing me from the only home I'd known.
Leaving home is never easy, especially when it no longer feels like home. It didn't take long before I was running wild in the forest, and then my bad luck caught up with me. "There she is! Catch her!"
Catch her? Catch who? I didn’t have time to process what was happening when I saw four rogues running to catch up with me.
What’s going on?
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, my heart pounding in my chest like a drum. I could hear the rogue werewolves closing in on me, their snarls and growls getting louder with every step. I knew I couldn't outrun them, but I had to try.
I had no idea whether I was the one they were chasing but I was the only one here right? Even if they weren’t chasing me, meeting over four rogues in a deep forest means death.
Just as I thought I'd found a narrow escape route, a hand clamped down on my shoulder, spinning me around. I tried to struggle, but it was too late. A fist connected with my jaw, sending me crashing to the ground. Everything went dark.
"Damn... What on earth have I gotten myself into?" I muttered. My four limbs were tightly bound. If I could make my wolf appear, I could break free from these stupid ropes. I could hardly see anything in the darkness.
"Struggling is pointless." A voice stopped me from moving on the seat. I turned to look at the source of the voice and saw four masked man walking towards me, followed by another. They were holding whips - not the kind you'd want to be hit with - quite the contrary.
"What do you want from me?". I asked, My head throbbed, and my body ached all over. I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me, forcing me back down as I groaned in pain.
"Oh, it doesn't matter what we want. What matters is what she wants." I could sense a mocking smile etched under his thick mask, and the fat one just giggled at his partner.
They walked towards me, dragging the thick and torturous whip. My eyes widened. "You don't know who you're up against. I - I'm Alpha Lucian’s mate! He won’t take it lightly with you if you dare hurt me."
I am not anymore, but that's all I can say for now to save myself. "He will come for me, and when he does -"
The thinner of the four rogues laughed, interrupting my sentences. "Oh, we understand perfectly." He sneered. "He's the exact reason you're here. Who do you think told us a female and unmated virgin wolf just got banished from her pack?”. He asked, licking his lips, his eyes trailing over my body lustfully.
I squeeze my face in disgust before his words sink in. Lucian did what? "What are you talking about?".
"Your dear Alpha betrayed you. He knew exactly what would happen when he sent you here. You got rejected right? Poor thing, the alpha actually chose someone else over her." The fat one laughed.
“And yet she’s here still claiming to be his mate. Do you know why he sent us here? Because he hates the fact you are his mate and wants you gone forever!”. Fear gripped my throat, and tears gathered at the corners of my eyes.
No no. Lucian would never do that to me. He.. he loves me.
“But don’t worry, that’s his lose. Ain’t you such a pretty thing”. He murmured, his hands wandering on my body.
"Stop! Stop - Don't fucking touch me, you lunatic!" I bit his hand, and he cursed loudly before picking up the whip.
He pulled me out of the chair and forced me to kneel down, with my back to him. "You want to be the bad guy? Fine!"
"Ah!" I screamed as a lash tore my clothes to shreds. And then another. And then another - lashes after lashes of the whip penetrated my skin until I lost count.
Nausea filled me to the brim, and my head spun as the torture continued for what felt like hours.
I hate this. I hate this. I can't take it anymore. Please stop...
"No!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, and then unknowingly, my body was overwhelmed with pain stronger than before - worse, much worse. My vision blurred, and I felt my body transforming. It was the same feeling as when I saved Evelyn in the forest years ago.
My body moved on its own, and I didn't know what it was doing. My vision was blood red. I couldn't see anything. I could feel my limbs, but they were moving without my control.
I launched myself at the rogue wolves, my body moving with a strength and ferocity I never knew I possessed. I took them down one by one, my claws ripping through their flesh like paper.
In the next few minutes, I stood in front of the massacred bodies of the rogues, looking down at my hands filled with blood that wasn't mine.
My legs were numb. When I realised all this, the world slowed down.
Was it... me... who did this?
Black spots dotted my vision, and then unknowingly, I slowly started getting dizzy, only hearing the sound of running footsteps coming from the corner of my hazy vision.
“Goddess please save me.” I begged silently, falling to the ground weakly as I saw a blurry vision of a man
“Fuck You will be fine, you will be fine”. Was the last word I heard before everything went black again.
Who is that? Who came to save me?

Lsabella's Pov
Five years later...
"The Alpha King has decided to add a new section to the palace. He has specifically chosen our company to design it," Ronan said, and a brilliant smile appeared on my face. Five years had passed, and I was no longer that useless waste. Now, I am now a renowned architect.
"I want you to design it, Isabella," he finally added.
I stood up from my seat, hit my hands on his desk, and stared at him firmly. "Are you serious? Really, really serious?" Ronan nodded, and my knees weakened with excitement. "Damn, I really am going to the palace," I said, unable to believe my own words.
"Yes, yes, of course. Now get ready. You are leaving tomorrow." Ronan put on his glasses and waved me away.
The next day, I sat in the taxi. The driver looked at me from the rearview mirror. "Where to?" I looked out of the window, still unable to believe that I was really going there. "The palace, please." I muttered. A new page was about to open for me. I could feel it. I just needed to reach out and touch it.
"Miss, we are here." The driver called me, and I lifted my heavy eyelids. God, were we already here? This trip felt like it lasted for several hours. "Thank you." I paid the driver, got out of the car, and the driver helped me take my suitcase out of the trunk. The taxi drove away.
For the first time in my life, I stood in front of the palace gate. "Damn." I muttered, unable to believe my eyes. The door slowly opened, and I walked in like a weed in a flower field. "Welcome." The guard said, and I nodded in response.
The grandeur of this place instantly took my breath away. As I admired the towering spires and intricate carvings on every surface, my heart pounded. The sheer scale of the palace made me feel tiny, but its beauty filled me with awe. Holding the suitcase I bought from a discount store, I walked across the marble floor shining under countless chandeliers and crystals. It felt like walking on gold, so unreal.
"The architect is here." I heard someone whispering to a tall woman with her back to me in the distance. She seemed to be in charge. "Oh, really? Great. We need help." She slowly turned around, and my heart sank to my stomach. It was Evelyn.
The smile on her face froze when she looked at me. Then she asked unpleasantly, "What are you doing here? This is not a place where lowly people like you can enter and exit freely." My hands began to tremble slightly. I clenched my fists and tried to steady myself. "I am Isabella, the architect from Apex Group." I introduced myself.
Evelyn's eyes widened as she looked me up and down. "Right..." When she saw me, shock and disbelief flowed in her gaze. As if she couldn't believe that I was really here and still alive. Her appearance was almost surreal, like a ghost from a forgotten dream appearing in front of me.
She walked towards me, her high heels clicking on the floor. "What did you say? How could you be..." Before Evelyn could finish her words, I took out my business card. The guard took a look and seemed to have known I was coming. Immediately, he opened the door for me. I ignored Evelyn and walked inside on my own.
And she finally accepted that I was the architect and quickly chased after me and blocked me. "You know, right? This is the reason why you came back." She asked. When memories flooded back, I felt a lump in my throat. "Know... what?" I frowned. This was the first time I had seen her in years, and this was her first sentence.
"You know that Lucian has become the Alpha King. You came back here because of that, right?" She replied. I sneered. "Even if the king is him, it doesn't matter to me anymore. I don't care."
Lucian's Pov
She is so beautiful. After all these years, she is still so beautiful. "Her beauty has not diminished over the years." My wolf, Oliver, murmured in my mind.
Standing at the top of the railing overlooking the entire living room, I watched her with a predatory gaze, savouring her appearance. She stood there, unaware of the shadows hovering above her. I could almost taste the bitterness of regret on the tip of my tongue, mixed with the cruel satisfaction of knowing that she had never truly escaped me.
This time, Isabella, you will be by my side. Whether you like it or not. I licked my lips, admiring every inch of my mate. My fingers twitched, grasping the railing so tightly that it almost broke.
Sooner or later, I will possess her in every corner of this palace, like the beast she always hated. I will possess her like the last feast on these golden tables she would love now, making love to her endlessly until her moans of my name echo through the walls with those plump lips.
The pain of five years ago is nothing compared to my current longing. This longing is so intense that I can't breathe. She is mine and always has been. This time, I will never let go of her hand and let her leave me again.
The right choice is more like a damn punishment, almost poetic. The taste of this freedom is like ashes. Recalling how I had rejected her five years ago, my wolf had almost gone insane because of that.
"You are so wrong, Lucian! You haven't learned anything in your life!" My wolf, Oliver, growled at me, full of hostility, and I completely understood why. I rejected his mate – our mate. The only woman destined to stand by a monster like me.
Isabella... I just saw her suppressing tears, her eyes full of disgust. I was injured on the battlefield. It was magic bursting from the enemy's blade. It was stronger than wolfsbane – something that could kill any ordinary werewolf. Although I am not an ordinary werewolf. I am an immortal monster.
