Chapter 1
“Hey, what are you thinking about?” Tristan asked, gently bopping her nose.
Kyra smiled up at him. “I’m thinking about our future together, Tristan. Soon I will be your Luna, and you won’t have to always sneak into my room to see me.”
A dark glint of mockery flashed in Tristan’s eyes, but Kyra was too lost in her dreams to notice it.
“Of course, very soon we will be the most powerful couple in the werewolf world,” Tristan said, his words dripping with sarcasm.
“Yes, we...” Kyra started, but her words were cut off by a loud bang. Someone kicked the door open, and it split with a thunderous crash. She turned to see her father, Ezekiel, and his men standing at the door. Ezekiel's face was twisted with fury as he took in the scene.
“What is going on here?” Ezekiel demanded, taking a menacing step into the room.
“Dad?” Kyra called, her voice shaky with fear. How had her father found out? He never came to her room unless he needed her, often ignoring her existence.
“I asked you a question! What is going on here?” Ezekiel roared when Kyra didn’t answer immediately.
“Dad, I...” Kyra stammered, but Ezekiel cut her off.
“What is he doing inside your room, you stupid girl?” Ezekiel asked, pointing at Tristan, who stood behind Kyra without an ounce of fear. His eyes held a mocking challenge.
Kyra looked back at Tristan, then turned to face her father again. She was confused and terrified. If her father attacked, Tristan would be defenseless. He always came alone to avoid detection.
Kyra stepped in front of Tristan, using her small body to block him from her father’s view. “Dad, please don’t hurt him,” she pleaded, tears welling up in her eyes.
“Hurt him?” Ezekiel yelled, exasperated. “I was alerted of a stranger jumping into your room. I thought you were in danger and rushed here, only to find you invited our enemy! You’re even begging for him?”
Ezekiel’s eyes burned with rage and confusion. He could not believe his daughter would consort with their enemy.
Kyra felt a flicker of warmth at her father’s concern, but she knew the truth would change everything. “Dad, please. He is my mate. I can’t allow you to hurt him.”
“He is your what?” Ezekiel bellowed, his fury escalating. “This bastard is your mate?”
Kyra nodded, her voice trembling. “Yes, Dad. He is my mate, and I’m pregnant with his child.”
Silence fell over the room as everyone absorbed her words. Tristan’s smirk grew more pronounced.
“Did you just say you’re pregnant with my child?” Tristan asked, stepping forward with a cold smile.
Kyra turned to him, her face lighting up with hope. “Yes, Tristan. We’re going to have a baby.”
Tristan’s laughter was harsh and mocking. “You think you’re worthy to bear my heir? You’re nothing but a tool, Kyra. A means to an end.”
Kyra’s world shattered. “No, you can’t mean that.”
Tristan’s eyes gleamed with malice. “Your father is my enemy. Did you really think I’d forget that because the moon goddess paired us together? You’re a fool, Kyra.”
Ezekiel’s rage boiled over. “Seize him!” he ordered his guards.
Tristan raised a hand, and a loud whistle pierced the air. Armed men burst into the room through the window, weapons drawn.
Tristan’s voice was filled with venom as he declared, “Ezekiel, your reign ends today. I declare war on you and your pack. No more hiding, no more sneaking around. This is your end.”
Ezekiel’s face contorted with shock and anger. “You dare bring war into my home?”
Tristan’s men clashed with Ezekiel’s guards, the room erupting into chaos. The sound of clashing steel and snarling wolves filled the air. Tristan moved with savage precision, cutting down anyone who stood in his way.
Amid the fighting, Tristan grabbed Kyra, his grip bruising. “Stay here,” he ordered, pushing her to the ground. “Watch as I destroy everything you love.”
With a swift, fluid motion, Tristan advanced on Ezekiel, who was locked in combat with one of Tristan's guards. Ezekiel fought valiantly, his strength and experience evident in every move. But he was outnumbered, and Tristan’s men were relentless.
“Kill him,” Tristan ordered, his voice cold and merciless.
The guards overpowered Ezekiel, forcing him to his knees. Kyra screamed as she watched one of the guards unsheathe a dagger and plunge it into her father’s heart. Ezekiel's body convulsed, and then he fell still.
“No!” Kyra screamed, tears streaming down her face as she struggled against Tristan's grip.
But Tristan wasn’t done. He approached Ezekiel's lifeless body, drawing his sword. He looked at Kyra, his eyes filled with cold satisfaction. “This is your punishment, Kyra. This is the price of your father’s sins.”
With a swift, brutal stroke, Tristan severed Ezekiel's head. Blood sprayed across the room, and Tristan picked up the head by the hair, holding it aloft. He turned to Kyra, who was now sobbing uncontrollably, her world crumbling around her.
Tristan threw her father's head at her feet, the severed head landing with a sickening thud. “Bitch! Thank you for your help with my victorious revenge!” he sneered, his voice echoing with finality. “Your pack is mine. You and your unborn child will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.”
Kyra collapsed to the ground, cradling her belly as she wept. Her world had crumbled, and there was no escaping the nightmare that had become her reality.
Tristan leaned down, his breath hot against her ear. “And just when you think it can’t get any worse,” he whispered, “wait until you see who the highest bidder is.”
Kyra’s heart froze with a new wave of terror washing over her as Tristan's sinister smile burned into her memory.
Who would still want me after finding out that I was pregnant?
Who could possibly be worse than him?
Chapter 2
Kyra sat in the cold, dark cell, her body trembling with fear and sorrow. The image of her father's severed head haunted her every waking moment. She clung to her belly, whispering soothing words to her unborn child.
Suddenly, the sound of a key turning in the lock jolted her to attention. The door creaked open, and a black figure stepped inside. It wasn’t a guard.
"Kyra," the figure whispered, "I’m here to help you. But we have very little time." Her pulse quickened. Was this a trap, or her last chance at freedom?
“The auction is set for tomorrow. All the alphas have been invited. On the way here, I heard Tristan's guards say that they would change shifts at night. If you want to escape, this is the only opportunity. "
“Who are you? Why do you want to help me?”
The figure paused and then left quickly, leaving Kyra alone again with questions.
‘Should I take a chance and believe what he or she said?’ Kyra had never felt so hopeless before. Maybe she should wait and see…
Night fell, and the palace was eerily quiet. Kyra knew maybe this was the time.
She could hear the guards outside the cell left. The gate of the cell was ajar! They were shifting!
Kyra decided to run, if she was lucky enough, she may get freedom again.
She quickly slipped through the corridors, her heart racing. She avoided the guards, her every sense on high alert. As she neared the stables, she heard voices and ducked behind a pillar.
"It's only a matter of time before she's auctioned off," one guard said. "Who will fuck her next?"
“Maybe some perverted Alphas who like to fuck pregnant women?” The other one laughed out loud.
Anger devoured her, but she could do nothing but run.
Kyra immediately raced for the woods which for the first time ever, appeared to be very far from the palace. When she got into the woods without getting caught, she still did not breathe in relief because now, she would have to avoid all the hundreds of guards that were positioned all over the woods.
On a normal day, it wouldn't be hard but today every little sound she heard from birds and insects made her jump in fear. Everything sounded like approaching footsteps to her ears and she nearly ran into the middle of four guards.
Just when she thought that she had run far from the guards and was now free to move the way she wanted because she was close to the pack's border, she ran into a guard who had moved away from the others to urinate.
Kyra quickly turned around and made to run back when she hit her foot against a tree trunk and released a wild scream of pain before she could stop herself. Her hand slapped against her mouth but it was already too late.
She had been found already.
“Stop there, don't even think of running." The guard's voice was cold behind her as he stopped urinating and began to walk to where she was standing.
She shouldn't listen to him, she should run but Kyra knew that he would chase her. She was not as fast or as strong as her father's other children, she would be caught before she took a step so she stood still.
“Raise your hands up and turn around, slowly”
Kyra did as she was told, she slowly raised her hand up and began to turn around
“Well, well, well…" The guard was surprised to see her, “You were trying to run away, huh?" He asked as he took in the bag she was carrying behind her.
“No," Kyra shook her head, “I was not trying to run away."
“Could have fooled me but you have a bag behind you so, of course, you were trying to run away. Come here.” he waved at her to go to him.
Kyra remained where she was as her eyes darted around, looking for a way to escape. She did not like the dark glint in this guard's eyes. It was evil and…
The guard jumped and grabbed her by the hand to yank her into his arms. She tried to scream but his hand slammed over her mouth, locking the scream in.
“Were you trying to run away from me? You are nothing but a weak little and there is no one here to save you. Now that you are in my arms, if you promise to not scream, I might allow you to leave after doing what I want with you. I know you are wise, you don't want to be sold to all those alphas so pick wisely. Me or them?”
Kyra cringed back and nearly vomited when the stench of alcohol from his mouth filled her nostrils as he spoke in her face. He grabbed her hips with one hand to press her closer and bile rose up in her throat when she felt that hot hard length of him pressing against her.
He wanted her to sleep with him in exchange for her freedom. She couldn't do it. She would die first but she did not need to let him know that. Her eyes were wide with fear as she pleaded with him to use it. She knew that if she struggled, he would rape her.
“What? You don't want to do it?” The guard sneered at her, "It's not like you are a virgin or something. I will not be the first to go in there. I would just take it by force if you don't agree. No one would hear your screams anyway and thinking about it, it would be more fun that way. Hearing your lovely scream while I… Arghhh” The guard jumped away from her and screamed when she bit his hand and kicked him in the groin at the same time.
“Well done. Thought you would be raped already.” Tristan’s cold voice rang out, making Kyra freeze in terror.
Tristan stepped out from the shadows, his eyes burning with furious mockery. He approached the guard, who was writhing in pain on the ground, and drew his sword. With a swift, brutal stroke, he severed the guard’s head.
Blood sprayed across Kyra's face as the head rolled to her feet. The pungent smell of blood filled her nostrils, and she couldn’t help but vomit.
Tristan grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. “Do you know why you can escape? It’s my trap! You idiot bitch! Try to run again, and your brothers and sisters will be the next,” he said viciously.
Kyra's eyes widened, unable to understand why Tristan would torture her in this way.
But all she could do is to beg for mercy.
Her voice shaking with fear. “No! No… please. I will never run away again, please, please don't kill them.”
Tristan’s grip tightened painfully before he finally released her. “Good luck to your auction tomorrow!” he snarled before letting the maids take her away.
‘Why would I love a devil who wants others to rape me?’ Kyra felt as if the world was plunging into an endless abyss of darkness. She couldn’t fathom what lay ahead for her and her baby. Which ruthless Alpha would win this dreadful auction?
At the auction.
Kyra stood on the raised platform, her heart pounding in her chest. The auction room was filled with murmurs of anticipation, a sea of hungry eyes fixated on her. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, and closed her eyes for a moment.
"Stay calm, Kyra," her wolf’s voice echoed in her mind. "We need to remain strong. Show no fear."
"I’m trying," Kyra replied inwardly, her mental voice trembling. "But it’s so hard. I can feel their eyes, their intentions..."
"Focus on me," her wolf urged gently. "Breathe. We’ve faced worse. For the sake of our child, we must endure this."
Kyra nodded subtly, grounding herself in her wolf’s steady presence. She opened her eyes, trying to project a facade of calm despite the terror gnawing at her insides.
The auctioneer’s voice rang out, listing her attributes in a cold, detached manner. Kyra’s mind drifted, but she forced herself to listen, to be present. This was her reality now, and she needed to face it head-on.
“Ten thousand dollars,” a commanding voice suddenly announced, cutting through the murmur of the crowd like a knife.
Kyra’s entire body seemed to jolt with electricity. She turned her head sharply towards the source of the voice, her eyes locking onto an Alpha. His presence was imposing, his eyes sharp and assessing.
The room fell silent, the air thick with tension. Kyra’s heart raced as she stared at the Alpha, feeling a strange mix of fear and curiosity. She knew that her fate, and the fate of her unborn child, hung in the balance of this moment.
Chapter 3
He was not supposed to be here. Anton does not accept invitations to things like this but he was curious, bored, and needed the entertainment. The invitation letter he got was enough to spark a thousand curiosity in him and he knew that it would be fun to just sit around people where there would be lively music, good food, and a little show to entertain him.
He had been working for so long and needed a little break and this little ball that Alpha Tristan was hosting in his pack would do the trick. He left his beta and Gamma in charge of his pack and took off with eight of his men.
“Alpha Anton. I did not expect that you would come." Tristan beamed with a wide wicked smile as he ran up to Anton who had just stepped into the party with two of his men. Other alphas also stopped what they were doing to stare at him in shock. They couldn't be blamed, he was never one to go to things like this and anytime he appeared, there must be trouble.
“I didn't know that I would come either," Anton had no qualms about saying it to Trista’s face. He held no grudge against this man but he did not like him either.
He ignored Tristan’s outstretched hand and brushed past the man to the table his men led him to. The other alphas scrambled away from the table which was at one corner of the room where he could see everything that was going on. His men knew him too well; he hated being the center of attention which was impossible given the rumors that were flying around about him and who he was but he avoided placing himself in the middle of things if possible.
Women were looking at him and giving him inviting looks but none of them could approach him because they knew him too well. They were scared that he would embarrass them and he surely would. After what his first mate did to him, he hated women and allowed none to go close to him. His reputation of being ruthless was also enough to keep other alphas from approaching and trying to build any sort of friendship or relationship with him.
He held his drink, sipping in between while listening to the murmurs and it did not take him long to know the whole story behind Tristan selling his enemy’s daughter off.
The reason even sparked curiosity in him as he wanted to see this daughter of Ezekiel’s who was foolish enough to sleep with her father and her pack’s enemy and even get pregnant for Tristan. No Alpha would want someone like her, an alpha’s daughter or not and she was even pregnant. No man would want to train another man's child.
He was sure that she would be forced to flush the child should any of the alphas here agree to buy her. She would be turned into a sex machine and used for entertainment. Many alphas would like the idea of treating a princess the way they wanted because it was not every day that one would acquire a princess.
According to the crowd's murmur, her father did not think too highly of her because she was completely useless with a weak wolf and was not intelligent either. She was a liability so no one here would take her seriously.
Anton was not ready for it. He was definitely not ready for the type of attraction he felt immediately after she was dragged to the stage.
She was the opposite of his first mate with her bright blonde hair and baby blue eyes. She was the definition of a fucking goddess and contrary to his expectations, every one of the alphas was bidding high and fighting to acquire her for themselves.
Anton watched her quietly and observed the way she tried to raise her chin in the air but it wobbled; she was trying to be strong in the face of humiliation. Just how many women would be able to stand before over a hundred men who were bidding for her without breaking down in tears? Her father was selling her out and she didn't even know who she would be going home with or what they would do to her. She stood tall and proud even if she was just a little ant that could easily be squashed.
Her hand strayed to her stomach one time and his eyes followed the movement, confirming what they said about her being pregnant. He had never been a fan of Tristan but what man in his right senses would allow a woman to leave with his child especially him an alpha? If the child is born, the baby will be an alpha.
Anton's eyes darted around the room and he could not pick out any alpha here who would want her. What if they all wanted her not just because she was beautiful but also because they knew whose child she was carrying: they wanted to use the child to humiliate Ezekiel?
His eyes drifted back to the girl and this time, Anton froze as his heart began to pound in his chest and every other thing faded into the background, leaving just two of them behind.
He couldn't understand what it was but he could feel something tugging at his heart and squeezing it hard, making it difficult for him to breathe properly. It was the look in her eyes; the look of helplessness and shame. She wanted to be saved but at the same time, she had no hope of being saved. He watched as tears filled her eyes and Anton felt his wolf whine sadly.
She looked sad but wasn’t she the one that brought this upon herself? Why would she go around with the enemy and not just any other enemy but Tristan? He has never been one to buy a human. If he wanted someone, he would get them by hook or crook.
He wondered why she must have done what she did but he didn't have the time to think because his mouth suddenly had powers of its own. They opened and he found himself saying, “Ten thousand dollars."
Damn his wolf!
