Alpha Accidental Bride
One wrong signature changed everything. Elinor Soren is a perfectionist, a planner, and the last person who believes in reckless decisions. So when her arrogant, ridiculously handsome boss shoves a stack of documents at her to sign, she doesn’t hesitate. It’s...
Chapter 1
Elinor Soren never signed anything without reading it first. She prided herself on being careful, meticulous, and in full control of her life. That’s why today’s disaster felt like a personal betrayal from the universe.
It started innocently enough. She’d been working as an executive assistant for the enigmatic billionaire Damien Blackwood for three years, and for three years, she’d managed to avoid stepping on any corporate landmines—or, more importantly, his ego. That was, until today.
“Elinor, I need you to sign these documents,” Damien said, leaning casually against the edge of his mahogany desk. He always seemed to command a room without moving, his piercing blue eyes cutting through any pretense of composure.
Elinor glanced at the papers. “Contracts for the new investment?”
“Something like that,” he said, voice low and smooth. “Just sign here, here, and here. I trust your judgment.”
Trust her judgment? Elinor nearly laughed. She trusted her own judgment—and maybe her cat’s if it involved napping decisions—but Damien Blackwood? The man who made billion-dollar deals before breakfast and had a reputation for bending rules in his favor? Not likely.
Still, she signed. One, two, three signatures—just like he asked. Her pen barely lifted from the paper when he leaned closer, a faint smirk on his lips. “Perfect.”
Hours later, HR’s email made her want to curl into a ball and cry: Congratulations, Mrs. Blackwood. Your marriage certificate is now official.
Wait. What?
Elinor dropped the phone. Her coffee sloshed over the edge of the mug. And just like that, she realized: she was married. To Damien Blackwood……by mistake.
Panic surged, along with a strange flutter in her chest she tried to ignore. She stormed into his office, heels clicking against the marble floor like gunshots.
“Explain. NOW.”
Damien looked up, calm as ever, as if the news of their accidental matrimony was the most natural thing in the world. “Elinor,” he said smoothly, “it’s exactly what it looks like.”
“What it looks like?!” she shrieked. “I signed a few papers! I thought they were for a merger agreement!”
“Nope,” he said, leaning back in his chair, casual, dangerous, and infuriatingly attractive all at once. “They were for a marriage license.”
Her brain short-circuited. “You tricked me!”
“I didn’t trick you,” he replied, voice steady, eyes gleaming with something unreadable. “You signed voluntarily. It’s all legal. All binding. And now… you’re mine.”
The words sent a shiver down her spine. Not fear. Something else. Something that made her heart race and her pulse thrum in a way she wasn’t ready to admit.
Elinor gaped. “You’re insane.”
“No,” he said, voice dropping to a soft, velvet growl. “I’m completely sane. But this marriage… is very convenient.”
“For who?!” she demanded, gripping her chair like it might keep her from flying across the office.
“For both of us,” he said simply. “You’re smart, discreet, competent. I need a wife for legal purposes. You need… well, we’ll figure that out.”
Elinor’s eyes narrowed. “We’ll figure that out? Are you kidding me?”
Damien smiled, that dangerous, infuriating smirk that made her knees weaken. “It’s simple. Six months. We play the roles. Keep appearances. And after that…” He shrugged lightly, as if letting her go was an option. “We part ways.”
Her pulse spiked. “Six months?!”
“Yes,” he said, calm as ever. “Six months. You live here, you pretend, and we survive.”
Her brain screamed in protest. Her heart… didn’t.
And somewhere, deep beneath the skyscraper lights and her panicked thoughts, something primal stirred. She felt it—a flash of power, like a pulse in her veins she didn’t recognize. Her eyes flickered, sharp, predatory. The room chilled for a moment. Damien’s smirk widened.
He tilted his head, eyes glinting with something dangerous. “Interesting reaction. You’re hiding more than I thought.”
“What… what are you talking about?” she stammered.
He leaned forward, voice dropping to a near whisper. “I’ll explain later. For now… welcome to the Blackwood household, Mrs. Blackwood.”
And just like that, Elinor Soren’s life—and heart—was no longer her own.
Little did she know, the signatures she thought were mundane had bound her not only to a billionaire, but to a legacy, a secret, and a power she never imagined she possessed.
Because Damien Blackwood wasn’t just a billionaire… he was something else. Something wild. Something primal.
And she was already running out of time.
Chapter 2
Elinor paced the length of Damien Blackwood’s office like a caged tiger. Her heels clicked sharply against the marble floor, echoing off the high ceilings. How had her life turned into some twisted billionaire-romance-meets-horror movie?
“You’re pacing again,” Damien observed from behind his desk, lounging in that infuriatingly comfortable leather chair, arms crossed. He looked at her like he was observing a rare animal, amused and predatory at the same time.
“I’m not pacing,” Elinor snapped, even though she was clearly doing exactly that. “I’m… strategizing.”
“Strategizing?” His lips twitched with a smirk. “About how to escape a marriage contract you just signed?”
“Yes!” She flopped into the guest chair, hands tangled in her hair. “Do you realize how insane this is? I signed some documents, thinking they were for a merger. I did not sign my life away! My freedom! My dignity!”
Damien leaned forward, elbows on the desk, that intense blue-eyed gaze burning into her. “And yet, here you are, my wife.”
“I am not your wife,” she shot back, voice rising. “I’m a victim of… of paperwork tyranny, that’s what I am!”
He chuckled, low and controlled, that sound that made her pulse do things it shouldn’t. “Technically, the law doesn’t see it as tyranny, Elinor. It sees it as fully legal. Binding.”
Her jaw dropped. “Fully legal?! Do you know what this means?”
“Yes,” he said smoothly. “Six months.”
“Six months?” She nearly slammed her forehead on the desk. “You mean I’m supposed to live with you? Fake-smile at events with you? Hold your arm and pretend I’m… I don’t know… in love with you?!”
“That’s the gist,” he said, reclining in his chair, hands behind his head. “Effortless, really. You look amazing when you’re frustrated, by the way.”
Elinor’s cheeks burned. “Stop that!”
“Stop what?” he asked innocently, though his smirk betrayed him.
Damien slid a sleek black folder across the desk. “Here are the terms.”
Elinor’s eyes widened as she picked it up. The papers inside detailed the six-month marriage clause, tying his inheritance of the family empire to being legally married. And not just any marriage—the contract specified:
• Public appearances together to maintain the illusion.
• No outsiders to know about the arrangement.
• Shared living arrangements (because anything else would raise suspicion).
• Severe financial penalties for breaking the contract.
“I—this is insane,” Elinor whispered, scanning the clauses. “You mean to tell me if I don’t go along with this, I could lose my job? Face lawsuits? And… you could lose control of your empire?”
“Yes,” Damien said calmly. “Which is why it’s in both of our best interests to comply.”
Her hands trembled as she looked up at him. “And you’re… fine with this?”
“I’m very fine,” he said, voice low and dangerous. “Because you’re competent, discreet, and surprisingly… fiery. All qualities I need in a wife, temporary or otherwise.”
“Fiery?!” she shouted, standing again. “You literally just explained my life is now legally yours for six months, and you’re complimenting me?!”
“That’s part of the charm,” he replied, smirk widening. “And besides…” His voice dropped, a velvet growl that made her stomach flutter. “…I like it when you’re flustered.”
Elinor groaned. “I’m trapped. And you’re enjoying this far too much.”
As she tried to calm down, Elinor felt an unusual sensation—a strange energy thrumming beneath her skin. Her vision sharpened for a fraction of a second. The air felt… electric. Her pulse raced, but it wasn’t just from anger.
Damien noticed it immediately. His eyes narrowed, observing her with a predator’s precision. “Interesting reaction,” he murmured. “You’re hiding more than I thought.”
Elinor blinked. “What… what are you talking about?”
“Later,” he said, voice low, secretive. “Focus on surviving our six months first.”
She frowned. Something primal had stirred inside her restless and hungry. Her senses tingled. She didn’t know what it meant… yet.
Trying to regain composure, she straightened her blazer. “Fine. Let’s talk rules. I need rules. Clear, strict, no-nonsense rules.”
Damien raised a brow. “Rules? For surviving married life with me?”
“Yes! Because I am not going to… you know…” She waved vaguely. “…fall for you. Or get trapped. Or… or something worse!”
He leaned back, arms crossed, smirk impossibly charming. “Rule one: You’re mine for six months. Rule two: We keep appearances. Rule three: Everything else is… negotiable.”
Her jaw dropped. “Everything else is negotiable?!”
“Yes,” he said, voice dipping into that dangerous velvet tone that made her shiver. “…including kisses. Accidental or otherwise.”
Elinor’s pulse skyrocketed. “You are impossible!”“True,” he said, grinning. “But you’ll survive. I promise… at least until the gala.”
Her stomach lurched. The gala. The first public test of their fake marriage. The one where she had to pretend… and maybe, just maybe, act like she wasn’t noticing the way he made her pulse race.
As she left his office, Elinor tried to ignore the flash of predatory interest in his eyes. The air around her prickled with tension, excitement, and something primal she didn’t understand.
Something inside her had awakened—something that would not stay dormant for long.
And Damien Blackwood… he wasn’t just a billionaire. He was a force of nature.
She was trapped. But she was also… strangely alive.
Chapter 3
She had survived college, three dead-end jobs, and a brief but catastrophic blind date with a man who claimed he “loved astrology more than people.” But nothing—nothing—could have prepared her for moving into Damien Blackwood’s penthouse and pretending to be his wife.
My mother, Grace Soren, called five times before I even unpacked my suitcase.
“Eli! Darling, have you eaten? And why is your voice so… breathless?”
“I’m fine, Mom,” Elinor said through gritted teeth, trying to ignore the blush creeping up her neck.
“Fine? Don’t lie to me! Have you found … a man?”
“Yes, Mom. I’m married. To my boss Temporarily.”
“Temporarily married?!” Grace screeched. “Is this some new kind of diet fad? Oh, honey, this sounds… very billionaire-esque. Are you in danger? Is there a contract? Do I need to call a priest? Or a lawyer? Or both?” She sounded vain as usual.
Elinor groaned. “It’s complicated, Mom. Very complicated. And yes, there’s a contract.”
“A contract?! Oh, darling, read it aloud! Every word! I need to know he isn’t some… wolf-in-suit charmer!”
Elinor blinked. “Wolf-in… Mom!”
“I’m just saying! Don’t trust someone who looks like he could be dangerous but wears Armani!
You know your witch heritage and the rules don’t you”
She ended the call before her mother could launch into an hour-long lecture about wolf metaphors in literature.
But Her friends didn’t help either. Dinner at her apartment the night before she moved in had turned into a full interrogation.
“Wait… you’re moving in with him?” Juni, her roommate-turned-best friend, nearly dropped her pasta. “Like… married for real?”
“No,” Elinor said, stabbing a meatball. “For six months. It’s a legal nightmare I didn’t sign up for. I signed some merger documents, and somehow I’m… his wife.”
“Accidental marriage?!” Juni shrieked. “That’s insane! Are you serious?!”
“Yes!” Elinor shouted. “And he’s… he’s…” She faltered. How do you describe Damien Blackwood? Billionaire, enigmatic, controlling, dangerously attractive… possibly supernatural?
“Possibly supernatural?” Juni raised an eyebrow.
“Yes,” Elinor said, sighing. “I don’t know what’s happening, but my pulse goes crazy every time he’s near. And—”
“—and you’re dying,” Juni finished for her, smirking. “Oh my god. You’re trapped in a fantasy. I told you, Eli You’ve officially joined the elite league of women who get are in front page tabloids and I love it!” she squealed.
I groaned, burying my face in my hands.
The penthouse was everything she hated and secretly loved. Expansive, luxurious, intimidating. The floors gleamed like ice, and the chandelier sparkled like it belonged in a museum. Her bedroom—“hers,” temporarily—was enormous, with windows stretching from floor to ceiling.
“I could get used to this,” she muttered.
“Don’t,” Damien said from the doorway, leaning lazily with arms crossed. “You’ll move in for six months. Not eternity.”
“Yes, six months,” she repeated like a mantra. “Six months of not burning down your kitchen, not losing my sanity, and not… falling for you.”
He smirked. “Not falling for me is going to be the hardest part.”
“Impossible,” she snapped, shoving her suitcase into a corner.
The Rules.
They sat down later that evening in the living room, trying to establish “rules.”
“Rule one: Keep appearances. Attend events together. Smile. Hand in hand. No funny business,” Alexander said, folding his hands on the coffee table.
“Rule two: Don’t flirt with me. Accidentally or intentionally,” Elinor shot back.
He raised an eyebrow. “Accidentally?”
“Yes, accidentally,” she insisted. “I do not want… anything to happen.”
He leaned closer, dangerously close. “And what if it does?”
“I’ll punch you,” she said, trying to sound threatening. Her cheeks heated when his lips curved into a smirk.
“Noted,” he murmured. “Rule three: We share the penthouse. You have your own room, but proximity is mandatory.”
“I hate proximity,” she muttered under her breath.
“Good,” he said, voice dropping. “I like it too.”
Something in the air shifted—a charge of electricity that made her pulse jump. The room felt… alive. Her senses tingled. Something wild, primal, awake.
Damien’s gaze sharpened. “You’re hiding power. I can feel it.”
“I—what?!” Elinor shouted, standing up, flustered. “You’re insane!”
“I’m observant,” he said, smirk unreadable.
As if on cue, there was a knock at the penthouse door.
Before she could react, her younger brother, Soren Jr, barged in. “Eli! Mom told me to check if you’re being kidnapped!”
“I’m not kidnapped!” Elinor hissed, face red.
“You look like you might be,” Soren Jr said, grinning. “Wait… is this him?” He pointed at Damien, who was now casually leaning against the doorway like a predatory statue.
“Yes,” Elinor muttered.
Soren’s eyes widened. “Whoa. You’re living with him? Alone?”
“Yes, alone-ish,” Elinor said.
Damien tilted his head. “Alone-ish?”
Soren whistled. “Wow. That’s… terrifying. And impressive. You both look like you could devour the world—or each other.”
I groaned. “Shut up, Soren !”
Later that night, as Elinor unpacked, Damien appeared with a glass of red wine. “Here,” he said. “For stress relief.”
She took it reluctantly, noticing his piercing gaze. “Why do you always look like you know my secrets?”
“Because I do,” he said smoothly. “And you know you like it.”
“Do not assume that,” she snapped, cheeks heating.
“Mm-hmm,” he murmured, stepping closer. “Careful, Mrs. Blackwood. Accidental touches might happen. And then… rules might be broken.”
She felt it again—the strange pulsing, prickling sensation beneath her skin. The hair on her arms lifted slightly, senses sharpening. She didn’t understand it… but Damien did.
“You’re awakening,” he said softly, his voice almost a growl. “I can feel it. And you’re going to need guidance.”
“Guidance?” she asked, trembling—part fear, part something else.
“Yes,” he said, leaning so close she could feel his breath. “And I’ll be the one giving it.”
Her pulse jumped. Her heart raced. Her mind screamed danger… yet she felt alive in a way she hadn’t before.
And somewhere, deep inside, a primal part of her—the witch part—stirred. Hungry. Curious. Wild.
Elinor Soren realized, with a jolt of both fear and excitement, that her life had just become dangerously complicated.
As Elinor straightened, she noticed something strange. Shadows moved unnaturally in the corner of the room—like a ripple in the air. Her senses sharpened, instincts screaming.
Damien’s eyes flicked to the same corner. “You feel it too,” he whispered. “It’s happening faster than I anticipated.”
Elinor pulse surged. Her body tingled. Something primal stirred deep inside her. And she realized, with a jolt, that living with Damien Blackwood was going to be far more dangerous—and intoxicating—than she ever imagined.
And the gala… the first test of their fake marriage… was coming.
