Chapter 1 — The First Encounter

Eloisa’s POV
“Rule number 1: Do not disobey your master.”
Mama’s voice echoed through the concrete walls of the underground prison where the slaves were locked. Whipping my cellmate, Layla, Mama repeated the rules we were forced to follow.
Layla was recently bought as some alpha’s slave but was returned the next day wounded and with a negative review of Mama’s shop.
“You should have listened to your master no matter what! Just look at how terrified the others are because of you! The bad review given by your buyer to the shop will lessen the value of your friends!” Mama continued whipping Layla at her back. She had been repeating the same thing for an hour, expressing frustration to my poor cellmate.
I covered my ears and shut my eyes tightly when Layla’s scream got louder as blood started dripping off her skin. The blood’s metallic scent pervaded my nostrils, and the horrible event from the past began replaying in my head.
As an orphan, I grew up with barely any shelter or food, surviving on moldy bread and rancid milk. Even the orphanage director shared our hardships, living in the same rundown building. Despite all of that, we had dreams, inspired by fairy tales and the director’s encouragement.
At eighteen, I found a job at a nearby restaurant, ready to help the younger kids. But then, werewolves led by four alpha kings attacked our human world and won the war. So humans became their slaves… Changing my life on a whole different level in an instant.
The orphanage I called home was burned down, leaving only ashes and memories. I didn’t know if the director and the children survived, and I dreaded thinking about their fate.
Caught by rogues in the chaotic streets, I was told to Mama, owner of the so-called ‘Candy Shop’. There was no candy—Mama used the term to make her ‘goods’ of young and innocent girls sound sweet, selling them as slaves.
In the ‘candy shop’, we were given minimal food and clean water just twice a day, barely enough to sustain us. Mama insisted we should stay thin, saying that gaining weight would disgust the future masters we were meant to serve.
“Candy number 72!” Mama’s voice roared in my ear, interrupting my train of thought. She shot daggers while awaiting my response.
“Sweetie, can you hear me?” Mama raised her eyebrow, her glower sending a chill through my nerves.
Nodding, I opened my mouth and replied. “Yes, Mama,” my voice barely above a whisper.
“Follow me for your physical exam. You’ll be included in the next sale if things go well with your result. Hurry!” Mama led the way outside the underground prison.
I followed behind Mama, minding my steps. It was only my third time out of the cell in two years. My heart pounded as I saw the light I had never seen in ages.
The room above the prison was the dressing room—average-sized with a clean floor and flashy curtains. Some girls were tasked with keeping it spotless, maintaining both this place and the shop next door.
“Take off your clothes,” Mama ordered as she stood on the side, holding a measuring tape.
I obeyed, stepping out of the white dress I was wearing. Mama gestured for me to come close, so I did. Her hands rummaged through every curve of my body. She pressed, pinched, and slapped my rear and bosom. A satisfied smile crept on her face when she saw them jiggle.
“You’d be a perfect beauty if not for your height. You’re too short to stand next to the high-rankers so I assume you’d only end up as their maidservant or bed warmer. What a shame,” Mama muttered, shaking her head in dismay.
“Just need at least two baths a day and we’ll get rid of that awful smell of yours. Come on, open your mouth. Let me see what’s in there,” Mama instructed, her fingers holding my chin up.
She raised the flashlight to check what’s inside my mouth. Her expression turned sour for a moment and said, “Brush your teeth five times a day and you’ll be good. Be lucky you don’t have any rotting teeth or I’ll be using my pliers right away to get rid of them.”
I let out a sigh of relief hearing what Mama said. She wasn’t joking about the pliers. I saw her do it with another girl before. I never saw that girl again after Mama took almost all of her teeth that were rotting.
Mama checked the time on her watch before dragging me to the examination bed. “Lie down and spread your legs. I need to make sure I’m selling clean and healthy goods,” she said, wearing her gloves. “Pull up your knees. I needed a better look.”
I’d never been examined like this. The other girls said that this only happened when Mama made up her mind to sell us. Checking our bodies thoroughly helped her decide about our price.
“Oh! You’re a virgin. I must be lucky to get my hands on you before those rogues messed you up. If only you’re a little taller,” Mama sighed but smiled the next second. “You’ll be available for display in three days. Let’s proceed to the dorm and find you a vacant bed. You’re not going back to the cell tonight.”
My body shivered when Mama led me to the dorm, showing me the available rooms. In the end, she chose where I would stay.
“Take care of yourself and remember the rules. I don’t want to waste my energy whipping you like I did with your cellmate once you misbehave. Do you understand?” Mama asked, lifting my chin with her long fingernails.
Nodding, I answered, “Understood, Mama.”
“Good. Wash yourself before you sleep, sweetie.” Mama caressed my cheek before exiting the room.
After cleaning up, I realized I would rather stay in the cell than live in the dorm. The other girls thought living above was a privilege, but I couldn’t agree.
A long and deep sigh escaped my lips. In the next three days, I might be sold. Even though the bed was comfortable, I couldn’t fall asleep.
“This isn’t good. Mama will kill me if she finds out I stayed up late,” I whispered, staring at the ceiling. My thoughts kept me awake, and the strange noise from the outside made it harder for me to sleep a wink.
As the noise outside continued, it piqued my curiosity, wondering what could have made such a sound. I crept out of the bed and tried the door—it was locked. The window too, was locked, showing only the dim, empty street outside. I sighed, feeling dejected.
Mama ensured there was no escape.
Just when I was about to give up, a long mournful cry echoed. The hairs all over my body stood up as I tried to comprehend the eerie sound.
“Creepy,” I hugged myself, tiptoeing back to my bed when the howling suddenly stopped.
A sigh of relief escaped my mouth—until a shadow blocked the faint moonlight cast through the window. I turned around and there it was—a pair of golden eyes glaring at me. My heart skipped a beat.
“A-Ah!” I screamed, staring right into its glowing eyes. In the next second, the window shattered.
A 6-foot-tall creature hunched through the broken window, its body covered in black coarse fur. Its wolf-like face made me realize what it was… “A werewolf.”
The beast halted, his eyes narrowed as he approached. “Who are you?” His deep and melancholic voice filled my ears.

Chapter 2 — The Serendipity

Eloisa’s POV
I gulped, swallowing the lump in my throat hard. I didn’t expect there were thieves among werewolves too.
“W-What do you want? I-If you’re trying to steal something, you’re in the wrong place,” I stammered, facing his fierce gaze. “I—I got nothing here!”
The beast took a step forward, slowly closing the gap between us.
“I—I already told you! I got nothing—Ah!” I closed my eyes when my back hit the wall. The door was locked, so it was impossible to escape… Unless I was crazy to jump out of the window where this creature entered.
“Answer me. Who are you?” For the second time, he demanded.
“S-Seventy two,” I replied, hugging myself. He could kill me any second, and I wouldn’t be able to do anything. It was at that moment I realized the huge difference in power between a werewolf and a human. No wonder the humans lost the war.
“That’s your name?” he growled, placing his hands on either side of my head. Trapped between his strong arms, he left me with no route to escape.
Argh! It was only my first night leaving the cell, and I already had to face this ordeal.
“Your scent…” He grumbled, his eyes fiercely locked on mine. “What have you done to me?” he snarled, leaning forward, his warm breath fanning my face.
“M-Mama just told me to take a bath,” I replied, holding back the urge to pee in my pants.
The beast quietly stared at me. He lifted my face with his hand, his eyes moving down my lips.
“Are you afraid of me?” he asked, his fingers pressing on my chin.
I was looking at a werewolf who seemed more powerful than the others I had seen before, who wouldn’t be afraid of facing this creature? I was about to nod when I heard him groan. He let go of me and held his head with both hands, gritting his teeth in pain.
“I-I’m not afraid of you,” I stuttered, taking a step away while keeping my gaze on him.
“W-What’s happening? Are you sick?” I asked although I didn’t care the least. He could go down and leave me alone, instead of coming and threatening me with his scary appearance. There was no way he came here for a midnight chat—a midnight snack, maybe.
I heard that they devour their prey whole, and with my size, this guy here could eat me alive.
“Ugh! Not yet,” he groaned, falling on his knees, his hands still holding his head. “This is crazy,” he huffed, earning a nod from me.
It was indeed crazy. Everything turned upside down since they came!
“Ah—Eh?! W-What are you doing?!” I stammered, finding myself pressed down on the bed. I thought I could get away, but he suddenly got up and grabbed me before throwing himself on top of me on the bed.
“You smell very nice, do you know that? What did you do to smell like this?” He bent his head down and sniffed me on my neck, filling his lungs with my ‘nice’ scent. “Answer me,” he demanded.
“I—I don’t know!” I cried, my heart racing. The intensity in his eyes made it clear he wasn’t satisfied with my answer. The situation felt dangerously intimate and terrifyingly inescapable.
He gasped, his lips touching my skin, moving his head down to my shoulder blades. “Liar,” he whispered, his voice a low growl. “Are you trying to get my attention? If yes, then you win.”
I could hear his heartbeat, loud and fast, like drums pounding inside his chest. Yet, none of his words made sense to me. I couldn’t grasp the intention behind his unexpected action. Were werewolves always this…unreasonable and insane?
“H-Hey! Stay away from me!” I pushed him, but he grabbed my hand and bit on my wrist.
“AH!” I yelped, pulling my arm away, an excruciating pain spreading through my veins.
“What have you done?” I whispered, my body slowly giving up to the pain. “You beast!”
Suddenly, he stopped. His gaze intensified at my choice of words. “You think I’m a beast, huh? After alluring me with that scent of yours, you’re rejecting my advances?” His condescending tone irked me, but my wound was too painful for me to retort.
He pressed his thumb on my lips, locking his gaze with mine. Slowly, he inched his face closer, aiming for my neck. “You’re at this beast’s mercy, what can you do?” he smirked.
“Ah… You smell so sweet,” he whispered, planting feathery kisses on my neck.
I arched my back, feeling the unfamiliar warmth seeping through my body. The ticklish feeling on my neck made me feel light-headed. Then, just like that, I felt my body shiver in anticipation as his wet tongue glided through my skin.
“Mmm…” A moan escaped my lips when his huge hand found my breast, kneading it like dough. “S-Stop,” I gasped, grabbing him by the arm. However, my attempt to stop him failed when he held my wrists, pinning them down above my head.
“You made me do this,” he growled, moving his face down to my chest. “Take responsibility.”
“Nghhh!” I bit my lip just when his teeth bit my hardened nipple while his tongue skillfully encircled it.
“I know you’ll like it,” he smirked, caressing my lips with his thumb. “Then, why don’t we check down there?”
My eyes widened when he lifted my leg, his hands snaking its way under my dress.
“H-Hic!” I threw my head back when something slid inside my underwear. “Uhm… W-What are you doing?” I asked, my voice hoarse as I was catching my breath.
I didn’t hear a response, instead, the thing poking inside me was gone. When I looked at him, he was staring at his finger, and licked it while gazing at me.
“This isn’t the time yet. I’ll be back,” he said, getting out of the bed.
“A-Are you leaving?” I managed to ask, looking at his back.
He paused, but he didn’t turn back to face me. “Why? Would you rather me stay and continue? I thought you wanted me to stop?”
I felt my cheeks turning red when he laughed. I had no words to say, so I just sat there and watched him leave. I fell on my back, my lips quivered as my body shook in shock. “What was that?” I muttered, rubbing my punctured wrist.
As the midnight breeze filled the room, I looked outside and was greeted by the huge and imperfectly round moon.
A sigh of relief escaped my mouth as I breathed in and out deeply. Just when I thought everything was fine again, a throbbing pain spread in my chest, making me unable to breathe.
“H-Help,” I cried, clutching my chest while desperately reaching out for no one.
Slowly, the pain flooded my entire being, and while my consciousness faded, the moon seemed to be smiling at me.
*****
“72! Move! I’ve been calling you many times, the client’s already waiting!”
Mama’s voice rang in my head like an annoying bell. What happened last night felt like a dream.
“It’s not hurting anymore,” I mumbled, gently rubbing my chest. I was certain it wasn’t just a dream. The pain was too real to be imagined. “Ah! It’s gone,” I gasped, looking at the bite mark that vanished from my wrist.
“Gone? What’s gone? You’ll be dead if you keep the client waiting!” Mama yanked my hair, dragging me outside. She woke me up at dawn and started yelling as I got ready to be sold.
Ah… What a life!
“Wear this,” Mama ordered, strapping a metal bracelet onto my wrist. It was a tracking device to monitor our location, electrifying any attempt to escape.
I was about to speak, but Mama’s glare silenced me. “I appreciate it if you don’t speak when not asked, 72.”
She tucked strands of my brown hair behind my ears, beaming at my face. “Don’t worry, 72. I found you a good master. Stop shaking and be composed, do you understand?”
I nodded, fearing a hit if I showed any disagreement.
“Good. Let’s go,” she said, leading me to the drawing room. Waiting inside was a bearded man, grinning eagerly.
“Woah! She’s wonderful. I can’t wait to take her home,” he said, looking at me lustfully. “I’ve sent the amount to your account. I will add extra later after giving it a try.”
“And a five-star review, Sir Barrio. Please don’t forget to rate my shop after enjoying the goods,” Mama added, handing him the bracelet’s remote. She smiled sweetly at me. “Off you go, little bunny. Remember the rules. Do not embarrass your Mama.”
Mama then whispered, “He’s serving an alpha so be careful. You’ll have a chance to live lavishly if you follow him obediently.”
“Hmm. You smell like a fresh budding flower,” the man muttered, holding me by the arm. “We’ll take our leave now. Remember our deal, nobody should know I came here.”
“Certainly,” Mama waved to us with a smirk.
“Hurry up! It’s going to be troublesome if someone sees me around this area,” my buyer grumbled, dragging me to his car.
I looked around, feeling lost. But I’d rather take a chance than become a slave.
“We’re almost there. Walk faster, will you? Hey—!”
Using every ounce of my strength, I pushed the man away and ran across the street. Anywhere was better than with him.
“Idiot human! Stop right there!”
My wrist itched, and the next moment, I fell, shaking from the electric shock. The rumors about the bracelet were indeed true.
Still… I couldn’t just give up!
Slaves were discarded when they could not satisfy their masters. The truth was, nothing could satisfy them at all, treating every one of their slaves as sex dolls. “There’s no way I’ll let myself become one,” I mumbled, struggling to move as he approached.
Seeing a fast-approaching car, I spread my arms, hoping for a quick death.
“Watch out!”
Unfortunately for me, the car stopped inches away. I glared at the man who came out of the vehicle, squatting before me with a frown.
“Silly, are you trying to get me involved in your suicide plan?”

Chapter 3 — The Alpha's Slave

Eloisa’s POV
My heart pounded in my chest, each beat echoing in my ears. I couldn’t breathe. The man with me, with his wide grin and beautiful dark brown hair glistening under the sun, exuded an overwhelming power and domination. His green eyes locked with my hazel ones, piercing through my very soul, overwhelming me with just a glance.
Of all people, I just had to bump into an alpha. He grinned like it was nothing to him, but I was losing my mind every second with him around.
Something inside me felt strange, something I couldn’t explain. Even after meeting high-ranking werewolves who sometimes visited the underground prison, I never felt like this before. An alpha was beyond me, indeed.
“What, did you lose your tongue? Who are you?” His voice was gentle and playful, but it etched through my head, forcing me to answer him.
“I—I can't remember,” my voice cracked. Years of isolation were long enough for me to forget my name. It wasn’t like remembering it would do me any good. For two years, I was called ‘72’, the 72nd slave in Mama’s candy shop. The only thing I still remember about my real name was that it seemed to start with an E.
The alpha hummed and stood up. I followed his next move as he glared at the one who bought me.
“Theodore, what a surprise! Did you purchase a slave?” His deep and low voice vibrated through my skin, a hint of threat audible in every word he spoke.
The man he called ‘Theodore’ stepped forward and groveled on the ground, his body trembling. “Alpha, forgive my impertinence,” he said, showing the remote for the electrifying bracelet on my wrist.
“I heard the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack was looking for a woman to please him. He turned 22 years old this year and will finally enter his beast cycle. I bought this slave to serve him on that special day. She’s clean and pleasant to the eyes, too,” Theodore explained, hiding his initial intention.
The way he looked at me after leaving the shop, I knew he never planned to give me some alpha at all. Theodore was only making an excuse. As far as I knew, having a human slave was against the law, unless you’re an alpha. However, some werewolves were more stubborn than humans, and they loved breaking the laws they made, even at the cost of their lives for insulting their rulers.
“Oh, you mean Jack? That hot-headed fool wouldn’t need just any pretty woman by his side for sure,” the alpha looked at me before extending his hand. “Come. I’m on my way to meet the other alphas. Since you’re to be given to the Alpha of the Redmoon Pack, I’ll just bring you along,” he said, snatching the remote from Theodore.
The latter on the side was shocked, unable to move when the alpha pulled me up and dragged me to his car. Even I could do nothing against him. I wanted to say something but my words remained on the tip of my tongue and were never heard.
“Javier, take care of that sly man. I always knew he wasn’t the type to take orders from the ruler of the pack,” the Alpha ordered, and a man appeared from the shadows. “Get rid of him.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
Woah! I didn’t even feel his presence at all!
“Don’t worry about it. You will never see Theodore ever again,” the alpha said as he sat next to me in the backseat of the car. “I’m Dustin Freze, Alpha of the Moonless Pack. Now that Theodore isn’t around, would you mind telling me your name, human lady?”
I stared at Dustin’s hand, lost for words. He was too friendly for an alpha, something I didn’t expect. But of course, I knew he was up to something. Werewolves were never friendly, they only acted like one to fool their prey.
“Still don't remember?” Dustin grumbled, “My hand hurts.”
As if by magic, my real name just came to my mind of nowhere and my body moved on its own to shake the alpha’s hand. “E-Eloisa,” I mumbled, reminiscing about a time when people called me by that name.
“Eloisa,” he repeated. “You got a nice name,” Dustin complimented.
I’d admit it was nice to hear someone saying that about the name I almost forgot. The orphanage director was the one who named me that. She used to say it suited me best and was always grateful that I grew up well despite our poor environment in the orphanage.
I was about to open my mouth to say something when the door to the driver’s seat opened. It was Javier from earlier. “I’ve gotten rid of Theodore, Alpha.” He sat in front of the wheels, his voice soft and quiet.
Dustin grinned. “It looks like Eloisa's a lucky charm. If not for her suicide attempt, we wouldn’t be able to catch Theodore breaking the law,” he said, leaning his back on the seat and turning to me.
“I guess it’s all thanks to you, Eloisa.” He grinned and looked at the other guy. “Javier, you’re now my beta,” Dustin continued.
The guy he called Javier sighed. “Alpha, is it really okay for you to decide that out of the blue?”
Dustin shrugged. “Why not? Aren’t I the Alpha? Now, drive. Let’s head to the central state to meet the others. We can’t delay shipping Alpha Jack’s present,” he winked at me.
In the end, I’d still become somebody’s slave. Coming with Dustin wouldn’t guarantee me freedom.
“No…” I mumbled, scooting farther from Dustin. My eyes noticed the remote on the seat. If I could take it, there would be a chance he wouldn't be able to locate me after escaping.
“Don’t even try,” Dustin suggested with his eyes closed. “You’re a human slave who has nowhere to go. If you try to escape, the rogues will only catch you. You’ll be lucky if they sell you again,” he opened his eyes to see my reaction. “If not, you’ll end up as their plaything.”
Although the way he said it was painfully blunt, Dustin was right. I wouldn't have ended up in Mama’s candy shop if not for those rogues.
“Jack is a brute but he knows how to protect his people. If you obey him well, he might allow you to live,” Dustin continued. “He’s also quite popular among human slaves, you know. That brute has a handsome face,” he clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction.
“He badly needs a woman right now. I heard he’s been missing every night, looking for his mate before his big day,” Dustin added, shaking his head.
I wasn’t sure if Dustin was talking about the ‘Alpha Jack’ I heard of. The other girls often talked about ‘Alpha Jack’ in the underground prison and even wished to die at his hands. They said he was the epitome of beauty.
But if it was the same ‘Alpha Jack’, wasn’t he one of the four Alpha Kings who ruled over the world?
My heartbeat became erratic just thinking about the possibility of being an alpha’s slave. The other girls also mentioned that he was the most terrifying of the four Alpha Kings. If what they said were true then… Alpha Jack Archer would definitely kill me.
“Human slaves adore his beauty,” Dustin mumbled as if he could read my mind. “But he hates humans.”
I knew it! I was heading to my death.
