Chapter 1

Annette’s POV

"Kyle, oh..please please mark me!"

"Bro Kyle, I absolutely love your ass...oh"

I felt a sharp pain in my heart and body, my hand gripping the doorknob tightly, still unable to believe what I had seen.

Moans from men and a woman came through the bedroom.

On my boyfriend's bed, three naked bodies were intertwined—two men and one woman.

I had always been proud of my boyfriend, Kyle.

Kyle was a prominent figure at the school, he was the Alpha's son from the Crystal Pack. His mother, Luna Fiona, was the president of the university.

We were always an enviable couple at the werewolf university. I had always felt lucky that the Moon Goddess led me to find my mate at the university and paired me with Kyle.

Kyle was always gentle with me and took care of me in every little detail of life. But what I never expected was to see this seemingly gentle and outstanding man kneeling between a man and a woman like the filling of a sandwich.

At that moment, they were still engrossed in their threesome, unaware of my presence. The muscular man behind Kyle gave his ass a hard slap. The crisp, loud sound mixed with their panting and moaning made me feel like throwing up.

"Hey Annette, are you okay?" Roxanne rushed in, and as she reached the doorway and saw the scene before her, she also covered her mouth in shock.

My vision blurred. My eyes flooded with tears.

The people inside snapped out of their daze at Roxanne's voice, finally noticing my presence.

It was then that I clearly saw the other two people besides my boyfriend. I didn't recognize the man, but I knew the woman beneath Kyle—it was Lena, my best friend besides Roxanne.

Lena saw me standing in the doorway. She screamed and wrapped herself in the quilt.

Kyle jumped off the bed. Lust faded from his eyes and he panicked.

"Annette, hear me out..."

I didn't want to hear his explanation. "I will reject you, Kyle!"

Kyle shouted, "No!"

I wiped my tears and took a few steps back. Then, I turned around and rushed out of Kyle's dorm.

This place was so filthy that every second standing here made me nauseous.

Roxanne followed closely behind me, struggling to find the right words to comfort me.

"Roxanne, thank you. Don't worry, I'm fine."

Earlier today, I met Roxanne in the study room. She was surprised to see me and told me she had seen Kyle bringing a girl back to the apartment. She thought it was me. I was about to laugh and tell her she must have been mistaken, but I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my heart that quickly spread through my body.

I knew exactly what it meant—my mate was either dead or had betrayed me. Though the first possibility was slim, I still refused to believe the second. Now, my eyes had confirmed the harsh truth.

Kyle never knew I had found my wolf because I am a hybrid and my wolf was so weak that he couldn't sense her scent. But this didn't affect my werewolf senses, and Kyle's betrayal brought me unbearable pain.

"Hey sweetheart, cheer up. Why don't we go to the bar and forget everything? I have their VIP card." Normally, I might have hesitated, but not now. I chose to follow Roxanne to the bar without a second thought.

When we reached the bar's entrance, Roxanne received a call from her professor. She had to go back to handle something urgent. I nodded to indicate I could go in by myself.

Roxanne rummaged through her bag, hastily handed me a card, gave me a few quick words of advice, and then took a cab back.

I took a deep breath, smoothed out imaginary wrinkles on my clothes, and walked toward the bar entrance.

The bouncer at the bar entrance looked me up and down with contempt. Crossing his arms, he said coldly, "Ma'am, this is a members-only bar. Without a VIP card, you're not allowed inside."

As he finished speaking, he began to push me toward the door, as if I were trash to be discarded. Already hurt from Kyle's betrayal earlier today, his words ignited my anger once more.

I quickly broke free from his grip and shouted, "Who says I don't have a card? Open your eyes and look at this!"

I took out the VIP card Roxanne had given me and threw it at him. I waited for him to see the card and apologize, but the expected apology never came. Instead, the bouncer burst into thunderous laughter.

"Miss, this is not a bus stop. If you want to take the bus, go out the door and walk three kilometers to the left."

It was only then that I realized Roxanne had given me not a VIP card, but a regular bus card. She must have grabbed the wrong card in her haste.

"Now, leave!" The bouncer's face twisted with a menacing look, as if he was about to throw me out the next second.

"This is illegal! How can you discriminate against customers like this?" I was about to argue when the surrounding noise suddenly died down. I noticed the bouncer's previously fierce expression had turned submissive, his fearful and cautious gaze directed behind me.

I turned around to see a tall, handsome figure who had somehow appeared behind me, surrounded by a group of bodyguards. He was about to enter the bar but paused when he reached me.

"She's with me," his deep, magnetic voice resonated. The bouncer only nodded respectfully, and then the man, still flanked by bodyguards, walked into the bar.

I could only see his back and didn't get a clear look at his face.

As soon as he left, the murmuring at the entrance grew louder. I could barely make out a name whispered with fear and reverence.

Connor Norman—— the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack, the largest pack in Akron.

Chapter 2

Annette’s POV

"What would you like to drink?"

I didn't dwell long on what happened at the entrance. Nor did I think too much about why the ruthless Connor Norman helped me, I just figured he was in a good mood today.

With deafening music blaring, I found a booth and asked the bartender for a whiskey. Normally, I could only handle cocktails, but tonight I had one goal—to get drunk and forget everything.

I sipped my drink absentmindedly, still tormented by the image of Kyle with the other man and woman. Our love felt like a sick joke.

Shaking the liquid in my glass, I cursed Kyle, Lena, and the Moon Goddess, feeling my face grow hotter and my head heavier. "Damn it! I should go. There's no one to pick me up."

I wobbled as I stood up, my vision blurring. I shook my head hard and turned, but I stumbled, expecting to hit the floor.

A pair of strong hands caught me.

I raised up my head and looked up to see a short, stocky man in a suit. I couldn't make out his expression, but he was smiling at me.

"Why would a pretty woman like you come to a bar alone to get drunk? Let me take care of you. What if you fall again?"

Despite his help, I felt an inexplicable sense of repulsion and unease towards him.

"No, please let go of me," I said, trying to open my eyes wide, hoping he would understand and leave me alone. But he held onto me firmly and started pulling me outside. A wave of unease spread through my heart. I tried to break free but lacked the strength.

"You drank the drink I sent over, and now you won't let me take you home. You're a heartless little sweetheart," he whispered, his hot breath on my ear, igniting an unusual heat within me.

What terrified me more were his words. I realized then that there was something wrong with the drink the bartender had given me.

As he dragged me closer to the exit, despair engulfed me. I felt weaker and weaker, and just as I was about to lose consciousness, another pair of warm hands grasped my arm.

"Where are you taking her?" A familiar deep and raspy voice sounded. The man holding me immediately loosened his grip.

I fell into a warm embrace that smelled pleasantly of vanilla.

"Alpha... Alpha Connor, I didn't know she was with you," the man stammered.

"Get lost!"

Feeling the disgusting smell around me fade away, I instinctively let out a sigh of relief. But soon, the effects of the alcohol surged through my body again, igniting a sense of emptiness inside me that desperately needed to be filled.

Hot, very hot.

Even though I was lying in a stranger's embrace, I still felt uncomfortable. I tried to climb up, drawn to the coolness of his skin, which felt soothing against mine.

"Take me away..." I murmured, nuzzling his neck like a kitten. Kyle had already betrayed me, and at this moment, I had nothing left to lose.

I knew what I needed now, but I wasn't sure if this man would help me.

Suddenly, I felt a force on my chin. His well-defined fingers gripped my chin, forcing me to look at him.

I fell into a pair of gray eyes.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

I didn't answer. Instead, I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him down, and stood on tiptoe to plant a scorching kiss on his cool lips.

"As you wish," he rasped.

Chapter 3

Annette’s POV

The room was dark, and I couldn't see his face clearly.

As the man panted in my ear, I felt pain, but even more, I felt a desperate need for him.

I don't remember much of what happened after that, only that once he took control, he became a beast.

It was dawn as I opened my eyes again.

I looked around the room and began to remember what happened last night.

I sat up abruptly and felt a pain in my lower body.

The bathroom door was opened.

A man walked out.

I slumped on the bed, frightened.

The man had a bath towel wrapped around his lower body. He glanced at me and said in a cozy tone, "Hey, you."

I looked at the handsome man in front of me. I couldn't believe my eyes.

I knew him, the man I had a one-night stand with.

He is Connor Norman.

Connor was not just the Alpha of a pack. He was also the president of a listed company with great power and enviable wealth.

In other words, he was not someone to be trifled with.

I looked at Connor and said with a shivering voice, "Alpha Connor."

"Take a shower first. We'll talk later." Connor picked up a bath towel and wrapped it around his body.

"There's nothing to talk about. I've got to go now," I said.

"Your name is Annette, right?" Connor said. "Don't you want to talk about last night?"

"Alpha Connor, I was drunk. Let's pretend nothing happened," I said in a calm tone.

Connor was surprised.

He looked at me. "Well, is there anything I can do for you?"

I got his point and was slightly embarrassed.

"As far as I know, you are a Rogue and don't belong to any pack. I don't think your life is easy. So, if you need my help, say it now." Connor dried his body with a towel and then threw it to the ground casually.

I acted indifferently and said, "No, I'm fine. But just this one thing, please keep this between us."

"That's it?"

"Yes," I said seriously.

Connor sized me up. Then, he nodded expressionlessly.

I got dressed, looking slightly embarrassed. I packed her things in haste and left the room.

I rushed out of the hotel and let out a sigh of relief.

In Akron, Connor represented power, wealth, and danger.

I heard that Connor killed the Blood Moon Pack's former Alpha and replaced him.

I know I should stay away from him.

Plus, Blood Moon Pack and Black Thorn Pack had always been enemies. Despite territorial disputes, they were also business rivals.

If the werewolves of Black Thorn Pack knew that I had slept with Connor, I would be in huge trouble.

I dialed Kyle's mom's number.“President Fiona, I will break up with Kely! You promised before that if I agree to break up with Kyle, you will offer me a job at the university....”

In the old days, I would never consider her offer, but not anymore.

I said without hesitation, "I will reject Kyle. I want to work at the werewolf university."

....

When I arrived at the school gate, a car stopped in front of me and it looked familiar.

The doors opened, and two people got out of the car.

It was Kyle and Lena.

"Annette."

Lena ran toward me from under the umbrella. She clasped my hands.

"Annette, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I'm such an awful person. I'll do anything, as long as you forgive me."

Kyle looked at me with guilt on his face. "Annette, I don't know what got into me yesterday. I..."

I looked at them standing in front of me. My heart ached again, but this time, it was not as painful.

One of them was my mate, and the other was my roommate and friend.

"Kyle, you don't have to apologize to me. We are even now. Because of you, I got the job I wanted. You owe me nothing. And you, Lena, since you slept with Kyle, you and I were no longer friends. He is all yours now. So, from now on, don't pretend that we are still close, because you don't deserve to be my friend anymore. Now, I need to go to work."

I stepped back and ran toward the curb.

I was running fast and didn't notice a black car that was taking a turn toward the university.

When I noticed the car, it was too late and I was hit by it.

I staggered back a few steps and fell to the ground.

Kyle shouted, "Annette!"

I dragged myself to my feet, using the car as a prop.

Without a word, I limped to the car, opened the door, and got it.

Besides the driver, there was another man in the car.

I did not take a closer look and only looked out the window at Kyle. He was approaching, and I shouted to the driver,

"Take me to the convenience store on the second street, or I will call the police about the car accident."

The driver was a little hesitant. Meanwhile, the man sitting in the back seat said, "Take her to the place she mentioned."

The voice sounded familiar.

I turned around in surprise and said, "Alpha Connor?"
