Chapter 1 — The Betrayal of My Fiancé

Anna Gordon's POV:
"Whoa, sexy babe! If your fiancé sees you in this dress, he's not going to be able to resist tearing it right off you!" Shana Blair, my best friend, teased me as she snapped photos with her phone.
We were at her house trying on my wedding dress. It was just the two of us, and I felt free to bask in my own beauty.
Gazing into the mirror, I couldn't help but grin at my reflection. The sleek silhouette of the gown clung to every curve, and my blonde hair flowed down my shoulders, a tiara with a dazzling gemstone nestled on top.
I looked like Cinderella come to life.
Even without makeup, my sun-kissed skin, thanks to a flawless spray tan, radiated under the warm light.
"Hugh Fleming's jaw is going to drop when he sees me in this," I declared, unable to contain my excitement.
"Whoa, hold on! You can't let him see you in the dress before the wedding," Shana exclaimed, eyes wide. "It's supposed to be bad luck!"
She was right.
I turned and twirled in front of the mirror, watching the dress swirl around me. The rhinestones scattered across the gown caught the light, refracting a dazzling array of colors.
"Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest bride of all?" I joked like a giddy little girl, looking at my reflection.
"Obviously you, my dear Ms. Anna Gordon," Shana replied, using a dramatic, silly voice to play along as the mirror.
We collapsed into each other's arms, laughing until our sides ached.
"It's perfect," I said dreamily. "Now we just have to wait one more day."
Just one more day, and I'd be walking down the aisle to marry Hugh.
"Actually, it's less than 24 hours now," Shana pointed out with a grin.
She was right.
Tomorrow, this time, I will be married to my amazing fiancé, Hugh.
The thought felt almost surreal.
I couldn't even count how much I'd spent on the wedding over the past few months.
It's a good thing Shana's been here through all this.
Every sleepless night spent planning the perfect day had been worth it.
This marriage wasn't just the start of a new chapter.
It was the beginning of the life I had always dreamed of.
As a wolfless werewolf, having a mate was everything.
All werewolves were supposed to shift on their 18th birthday, but I didn't.
This brought shame to my father, who is the Alpha of our pack, and to my entire family.
Being a wolfless werewolf made me the lowest of the low—beneath even the omega wolves in rank.
As a wolfless, I was weak. But rather than protect me, my family had hidden me away, hoping to avoid the humiliation of my existence being known to others.
But then Hugh appeared.
Hugh had been a blessing in my life, offering me the chance at happiness I never thought I'd have.
I did one last spin in my dress, feeling like something was missing. "Am I forgetting something?" I asked.
"The veil!" Shana exclaimed. "Sweetheart, you forgot your veil!"
"Oh, I left it at home," I groaned, realizing my mistake.
"Then we have to go get it. You can't be the most perfect bride in the world without your veil!"
Shana and I returned to the apartment Hugh and I shared.
I noticed the door was unlocked. Was Hugh home? He wasn't supposed to be—he should've been at work.
Shana and I exchanged excited glances.
"Should I let him see the dress?" I whispered.
"Of course not! It has to be a surprise!" Shana reminded me firmly.
I carefully set the wedding dress down on the small table in the entryway.
I knew it would be safe there, but I couldn't resist stealing a few more glances at it before walking away.
"Well, I guess he'll just have to wait until tomorrow," I sighed wistfully.
I glanced up at the wall where a framed photo of Hugh and me hung. We were wrapped in each other's arms, laughing.
It had been taken right after he proposed to me—a perfect memory from a perfect day.
"I'm home!" I called out as we headed toward the living room.
I fully expected to see Hugh when I walked in.
However, what I saw instead stopped me in my tracks.
The room was a mess!
The room was a whirlwind of disarray. A vase lay shattered on the floor, its contents spilled across the rug. Clothes were strewn haphazardly across the couch and the floor, a chaotic symphony of fabric and color. And tucked into the corner of the couch, a splash of crimson caught my eye—a piece of delicate red lace.
My breath caught in my throat as my eyes locked onto the red lace.
"That's not mine!" I cried out in disbelief.
I'd never owned lingerie in such a loud, bold color—it didn't suit my wardrobe of soft, light-colored tops.
"What the hell happened here?" Shana asked, struggling to untangle a pair of panties that had somehow wrapped around her high heel.
Her face darkened as realization dawned.
She was my best friend—she knew my style and my preferences. She'd even gone shopping for underwear with me.
And then, I heard it.
A muffled sound coming from behind the bedroom door.
My chest tightened as if a clawed hand had gripped my heart. Panic and dread spread through me like wildfire. I already knew what was happening, but I didn't want to believe it.
"Come on, Hugh!" A woman's voice moaned from behind the door, followed by a breathless giggle. "Yes, just like that! Harder—I love it when you go hard!"
"D*mn it!" Shana swore loudly, her voice trembling with rage. "Who the hell is that slut in there?!"

Chapter 2 — We're Done!

Anna's POV:
The moaning and gasping from the bedroom abruptly stopped, leaving only the sound of heavy shuffling and muffled murmurs.
Moments later, a panicked Hugh bolted out of our bedroom.
Behind him, through the crack of the door, I locked eyes with the woman inside.
It was her—his secretary, the one who was always hovering around him!
She didn't even bother to look embarrassed. Instead, she smirked at me, a smug, taunting expression on her face.
I felt the blood rush to my head as my face burned with rage.
That was our bedroom!
Hugh had brought another woman into the bed we shared—in the sacred space where we planned our lives together!
How could he do this to me?
"I thought you were at Shana's place trying on wedding dresses," Hugh said, his voice more accusatory than apologetic.
"So you took the opportunity to bring a woman into our home to cheat on me?!" I shouted, my voice trembling with anger.
So that's why he refrained from joining us at Shana's—he needed time to betray me.
At that moment, the woman emerged from the bedroom, fully dressed, her hair still tousled. Without a shred of shame, she walked toward the door, preparing to leave.
Before stepping out, she turned her head back to me and smirked, "Your husband's got great moves. Good luck with your wedding tomorrow!"
"You b*tch, get the hell out!" Shana screamed, yanking off her high heel and throwing it at the woman.
The woman ducked just in time, dodging the shoe before slamming the door shut behind her with a loud bang.
Unable to contain the torrent of emotions any longer, I burst into tears. They streamed down my face as I turned to Hugh, my voice trembling with a mix of anguish and disbelief. "Hugh," I choked out, "our wedding is tomorrow! How could you do this to me? After everything we promised each other ... "
Hugh had once promised me that he would give up searching for his fated mate to be with me.
I knew Hugh was charming—many female werewolves were drawn to him. But he had chosen me. He'd made a commitment, and I had dared to hope he would honor it.
Instead, he sneered, brushing me off as if I were nothing. "You knew from the beginning that if you weren't the Alpha's daughter, I'd never have agreed to marry you. You're weak, Anna. A pathetic wolfless."
When he said the word wolfless, he laughed. The sound was cruel and condescending, as if marrying me had been some kind of joke.
"Oh, you disgusting piece of trash!" Shana exploded, stepping forward with the full intention of slapping him across the face.
I caught her arm, stopping her just in time.
As much as I wanted to see her knock some sense into him, I didn't want us to stoop to his level.
"We're done!" I snarled at him.
I yanked the engagement ring off my finger and hurled it at him with all my strength.
As the ring arced through the air and clattered to the ground, my tears fell with it.
Hugh's expression twisted into something smug and disdainful. "You'd better pick that ring back up," he said coldly. "You should be grateful I was even willing to marry you. You're just a wolfless. And me? One day, I'll meet my fated mate."
"Then go find her!" I shot back, my voice filled with fury.
Hugh sneered. "I'm a high-ranking werewolf from the Stormhowl Pack. My uncle is the Alpha of our pack. You'll never find anyone better than me, Anna. No other werewolf would stoop so low as to marry a wolfless like you."
Both Shana and I knew what the Stormhowl Pack was. Hugh's uncle was one of the most powerful Alphas in the entire werewolf world.
But so what?
I had no intention of spending my life with a disloyal and cheating wolf.
"Your uncle may be the strongest Alpha, but you? You're nothing but a disgraceful, unfaithful excuse for a wolf!" Shana snapped furiously. "Anna is beautiful and talented. She'll find someone a thousand times better than you!"
Shana grabbed my arm and led me out of that miserable apartment, her voice firm and reassuring as she said, "Don't worry, Anna. I know plenty of amazing werewolves. I'll introduce you to someone who actually deserves you!"

Chapter 3 — The Man at the Bar

Anna's POV:
Less than 24 hours before our wedding, my fiancé couldn't resist playing around with his secretary.
The wedding I'd dreamed of was over.
I'd wasted three years of my life on that unfaithful man!
"Hugh? Who cares about Hugh? Maybe you'll end up marrying an Alpha someday!" Shana, already intoxicated, slurred as she took another swig of her drink.
Determined to alleviate my sorrows, she had dragged me to one of the most popular bars in town. But she'd ended up getting drunk herself first.
"Marry an Alpha?" I laughed at her ridiculous suggestion. "A regular werewolf would only marry me because I'm the Alpha's daughter. How could an Alpha ever want someone like me?"
The thought was laughable.
My friend was clearly drunk.
"My dear friend, you deserve the best," Shana said, gulping down another drink. "You're going to marry an amazing werewolf—someone with a massive business empire. The richest, most powerful werewolf in the world!"
What a lovely fairy tale.
I groaned, grabbing my glass and tossing back the drink in one go.
The liquid burned as it slid down my throat, and I coughed, nearly choking. This was much stronger than the wine I was used to, and my vision blurred almost immediately.
"Hey, lady, you grabbed the wrong drink. That was mine—a vodka," a deep, smooth voice said from beside me.
Startled, I turned toward the source of the voice.
The man sitting next to me was young, probably in his late twenties, with a white button-up shirt slightly unbuttoned at the collar. The sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing tan skin and strong, muscular forearms. His high cheekbones, perfectly sculpted lips, and piercing green eyes made my heart skip a beat.
He was the most handsome man I had ever seen.
I stood up, intending to apologize, but as I moved, the entire room seemed to spin around me.
Before I knew it, I was stumbling—and crashed straight into him.
The man reacted instantly, catching me in his arms before I hit the ground.
Thank the Moon Goddess. Instead of falling onto the hard floor, I ended up pressed against the warmth of his chest.
His embrace surrounded me, and I caught the scent of something crisp and earthy—like pine on a cold winter's day. It filled my senses and sent a shiver of unexpected pleasure through me.
But I didn't stay there long. I quickly pushed myself away from him, feeling heat rush to my cheeks.
"I'm so sorry I drank your vodka," I said, struggling to stay composed as my body fought against the haze of alcohol. "Let me get you another one."
"Don't worry about it," he said, stopping me before I could call the bartender. "But maybe I could buy you another drink instead? It looks like you need it more than I do."
I opened my mouth to decline, but before I could get a word out, Shana slung an arm around my shoulder and beamed at him.
"She'd love that! Thanks for being so generous," Shana said, her voice slurred but cheerful.
"I need to use the ladies' room," she added before leaning in to whisper in my ear, "Don't say no to a sexy werewolf like him. Forget about Hugh—have some fun for once!"
I glared at her, but my face flushed even deeper.
The man ordered a round of drinks for everyone at the bar.
Shana was right—who could say no to someone so sexy and generous?
"Thank you," I said, taking the drink he'd bought for me.
He nodded, taking a sip of his vodka before turning to me.
"So, what's got you so down tonight?" he asked, his voice calm and deep.
I blinked, surprised.
How had he guessed something was wrong?
The man raised an eyebrow and said, "Something terrible must've happened to make a beautiful woman cry."
I instinctively touched my face and realized that tears were still streaking down my cheeks.
His gentle smile disarmed me, and for the first time that night, I felt my defenses begin to crumble.
Other than Shana, no one had seen me this vulnerable.
Pouring my heart out to a stranger I'd never see again suddenly seemed like a good idea.
"I was supposed to get married tomorrow," I admitted bitterly. "But I just caught my fiancé cheating on me. And to top it all off, he only agreed to marry me because of my status—I'm the Alpha's daughter."
"What a scumbag," the man said, his green eyes darkening with genuine anger. "Want me to teach him a lesson for you?"
"No!" I stared at him, unsure whether he was joking or serious. "His uncle is the Alpha of the Stormhowl Pack. I can't afford to provoke him."
Saying it out loud only made me feel worse.
As if discovering Hugh's betrayal wasn't bad enough, understanding the power of his family only made me regret ever accepting his proposal.
"I don't think the Stormhowl Pack's Alpha would tolerate a disloyal werewolf," the man countered, his voice firm. "If anything, he'd probably help you deal with that jerk."
"Really? Why?" I looked up at him, realizing how close we had gotten. His thick lashes framed those stunning green eyes, and looking into them felt like drowning in a glass of fine whiskey—heady and intoxicating.
"Because ... " His voice turned husky, the sound brushing against my skin like velvet, sending a shiver down my spine.
Our noses were nearly touching, and his breath carried the warm scent of whiskey as it lingered between us.
Before I realized what I was doing, I leaned forward and pressed my lips against his in a soft kiss.
What am I doing? My thoughts spiraled, but the alcohol clouding my mind made it hard to think straight.
His lips tasted sweet, and the kiss lasted longer than I intended. I started to pull away, embarrassed.
"Not enough ... Can I have more?" He murmured, his voice low and filled with desire. Before I could respond, his hand cupped the back of my neck, and he deepened the kiss.
